  • @Shoes386

    Top fans on the intake? No, no, no! Your top fans should be exhausting the hot air out, not trying to defy phisics and push it back down and in. Front and side fans are always intake, and top and rear are always exhaust. Would this guy install a top-mounted CPU radiator to blow the heated air into the case? Good grief!

    • @JamesFitzgerald05
      @JamesFitzgerald05 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Shoes thanks for clarifing that. I'm no expert but was thinking surely heat rises so why is the top not exhaust too. So your clarification of front and side intake, rear and top exhaust was the answer I was looking for. Thanks

    • @RealLifeEddy2K
      @RealLifeEddy2K 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shoes386 I was a bit confused why he has intake on top and intake on the front. He especially is bringing in a lot of air and then giving his computer a little extra warmth lol.

    • @HigdonLuke
      @HigdonLuke 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shoes386 You are supposed to have more air coming into the system so it creates a positive pressure making it easier for hot air to escape. For instance if you take a deep breath in you have positive pressure in your lungs and they want to exhale and can do so without effort. and usually the top is supposed to let hot air out but if there is a radiator there it is not as big of a difference but it still is.

    • @abhroy

      He is doing it absolutely right . This set up will maintain positive air pressure inside the case . Which means more air to get circulated inside -- resulting in better heat dissipation -- resulting in lower rpm for fans -- resulting in low noise . Anybody speaking against -- think about the filter mesh . Why did the case maker put filters on top ? Get off of your sugar rush & think 🤣

  • @FlowcastYT

    • @FlowcastYT

      Çerastes I'd rather be neutral and have no dust, unless you use a filter. Even then...

    • @mentionethan
      @mentionethan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top should always be exhaust because 1st heat rises (doesnt effect much at all though) and 2nd dust settles on top of things so why suck in air from up top when you can blow the dust away. Also you want to have positive air flow so change the speed of the fans at the front so they take in more air. The number of fans doesn't matter and shouldnt matter if you change your speeds

    • @LordCarmesimXXVII
      @LordCarmesimXXVII 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can create positive pressure putting more/stronger fans on front and buttom.

    Are the fan connections on the motherboard labeled? All these videos never show a close up of what the connections look like or which way the fan faces and some fans don't have the arrow showing which way are flow is going and being a noob watching all these install videos they always show close ups of people putting 4 screws in then just plugging the fans in. People already know how to put 4 screws in 4 holes, show more details like close ups of the actual connection or how to tell which way the fan goes and which fan to connect to the controller rather than just a regular connection.

  • @Battlefield2042Master
    @Battlefield2042Master 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Why would you have the top fan's intaking air. Not smart we all know hot air raise's

    • @ThePolulos
      @ThePolulos 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +JABBA COOLA because there is a dust filter there for a reason, its also not smart to exhaust air trough the filter (useless) and create negative pressure so dust enters at small areas that aren't filtered nor supposed to be intake since the fans have to get the air from somewhere when there is negative air pressure, also hot air doesn't raise super fast and in this case will go where the exhaust fan is exhausting it.

    The top is meant to be exhaust not intake

    • @tonyrulez69
      @tonyrulez69 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, if there was only 2 intake and 3 exhaust fans, there would be negative pressure meaning air would come in the holes on the case paired with dust. Thats why positive pressure is good, to keep out the dust. However 4 intake and 1 exhaust isn't optimal either..

    ok this seems off to me, I have been building pcs for only a year so I'm no pro, i've built 10 high end pcs and not once have I made MY FANS INTAKE AT THE TOP?> wtf is with that? I have always intake from FRONT, SIDE, & BOTTOM ONLY. and REAR & TOP EXHAUST...hot air rises naturally so it makes sense to exhaust not bring in...this video gets an "E" for effort and that's it...

    What if someone has an older PC case without screw holes to mount `front fans` ? Any other solution other than having to buy HD cages (4-in-3 modules) ???
    I can´t believe that are no easy to find and cheap to buy brackets, adapters or what have you, to provide something like mounting screws `corners` for a front fan. At least not outside Europe and North America. Do I have to a buy drive cages, providing I even find any these days, and leave them empty just so I can have front fans ? Can´t be...

    the natural direction of warm air is upward. Instead of using an exhaust fan, using an intake fan on top is a stupid idea. one should absolutely avoid it, its against the laws of physics. So intake from right, left, front, bottom and exhaust from back and top only.

    I'm a bit of a pc noob lol. But when installing case fans do you have to worry about making it intake or exhaust or does it just do that on its own?

      i'll give you a normal answer now lol, you can't add more but you can buy fans with different connection and connect them to your power supply, i don't know the exact name for the connection types but some googling will help you.

    Guyz if your fan connectors are full and you have more fan space then try searching for the
    ''Zalman MC1 multiconnector Bulk'' or the ''EKWB EK-Cable Splitter 4-Fan PWM Extend'' or ''Adaptercable from 4-pin or 4x3-pin'' or ''Akasa AK-CB001 Multi-fan Adapter''.
    (had a hard time finding them and the reviewer never review it)
    Like to keep it on top guyz ! (hope this helped !)

    Bruh top fans are for exhaust. My Cougar MX330 X case has 3 in front, 1 on side panel, 1 in back and 1 up top. Keeps my rig nice and cool.

    --BAD ADVICE-
    You want your top and rear fans to be exhaust fans. The front fans are your intakes. (The fan logo should be facing the direction you want the airflow to go)

    Sometimes using top fans as can cause short cycling and end up pulling the cool air up to the top of the case and not allow it to get to your back bottom corner.
    Flipping fans over only takes a second, some of you might try it out and see how it effects your system. Worst case scenario you got in a little hands on learning time, and know more about your rig than you did before.

    I have a question on the VRM_Fan connector. My motherboard only has a single "actual" case fan 4 pin connector, but has a pci fan connector and the vrm connector. Would it be fine pluggin a rear exhaust fan into the vrm or pci or would it just be better to plug it directly into the psu

    Im planning to build an x99 system in a thermaltake core x9 case. i want to have 4 fans at the top blowing air downward onto the motherboard which is laying flat. Is that okay? most cases have the board vertically and the air pushed passed over it. but in the case of the core x9, it will be pushing the air directly ontop of it. will this be better? worse? im still new to understanding proper airflow
