    Just when I thought I was done buying lenses. I've been going back and forth between the TTArtisan 50mm and the 90mm (for portraits). You can zoom in on the screen by double tapping? It looked like you did that at 4:38 or am I missing something?
    Edit: I just tested this out. I guess for some reason when I first did it, it didn't work, but now it does. Wow, game changer! I guess there will be manual lenses being purchase in the near future by me.

    • @ConstantineSPhotography

      Yes you can zoom in by double tapping the screen. I have some tips for using manual lenses: th-cam.com/video/vlm16OVaUQ8/w-d-xo.html hope you find them helpful! Manual lenses are less expensive and fun to use, I believe you can find some great deals!

    Hello :) Is it possible to use the clear-image-zoom somehow with a full manual lens in 4k video mode? I think that would be awesome.

      Greetings from Taiwan! Yes you can do that, the problem is that the video would be very shaky since you can't use Catalyst Browse with a manual lens, and the active steadyshot works terribly with manual lens too. So unless you're using a gimbal, I wouldn't recommend using a manual lens for video.
      Happy new year to you too!!

      No, I look through the screen to focus on both lenses. The f0.95 is more difficult to focus because the depth of field is too shadow, but if you don't mind softer look, then it's an amazing portrait lens. (but personally I like the f1.2 better)

    I once tried street photography with a 50mm 1.4 (on APS-C), absolutely not what i expected, the tight frame was hard to handle except the fact that it is for the beginning better
    The effective 80mm+ and F1.4 were awesome at low light events like concerts or festivals but as i later upgraded to the EOS RP (and RF 50 1.8) real 50mm were a charme, especially that small with the RP (+RF50).
    I still think to this day.... you want basic 50mm full frame? Canon all the way... RP+RF50 1.8 are best value to get into full frame (photography). Too sad i had to sell it since i cant really justify 2 bodies for basic hobbies and i happily switched from 24-105 F4 full frame to APS-C with the 17-55 2.8. Similar FoV, the SAME focal range and depth of field and the newer EOS R7 is also as good in high ISO --> switching from FF to APS-C even increased my low light capabilities (in photography, not so much in video)

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was once also a prime fan, especially on full frame and with big apertures of at least 1.8 for low light, but the better APS-C is getting the more i think if full frame will even survive that long on the consumer/not too professional market, especially considering already the prices we pay for MFT/APS-C gear, good full frame bodies are beyond 2500$ new, let alone the good lenses for example Canons RF L or Sonys GM lenses.

    • @ConstantineSPhotography
      @ConstantineSPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if you want 50mm equivalent on APS-C, you should get a 33mm F1.4 (Sigma got an awesome lens). 17-55 2.8? Sounds like a good option, reminds me of Sigma 18-50 2.8 for Sony, which is also a great option.

    • @ConstantineSPhotography
      @ConstantineSPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but I guess for FF, they are aiming at professionals or at least prosumer levels, so it makes sense for those people.

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ConstantineSPhotography By using for example a 35mm 1.4 lens i also get noticable less bokeh than compared to a 50mm 1.4 on full frame (very close to a 50mm 2.5 already), thats why i didnt like primes on APS-C that much anymore
      As i got my R7 i also tried a 50mm F0.95 with and without a speedbooster, in fact it was up to F2.8 stopped down very bad performing, and at this point i am just happy with a RF 50 1.8 or my EF-S 17-55 2.8 which is wide open very good. Doesnt make sense to buy affordable, nearly "cheap", big aperture glass if it performs worse at F2.8 than a basic 2.8 Zoom for example or cant even compete with a RF 50 1.8 in image quality at any aperture.
      There are only 2 circumstances anymore i use primes:
      - 50mm and 100mm 2.8 Macro... for macro and rarely portraits, the short, lightweight 50mm for basic stuff and on full frame once also my general use/"i dont care" macro/portrait lens, the bigger, heavier 100mm for more reasonable stuff and macro in general, the high resolution of the R7 allows for nice magnification with a 100mm 1:1 lens.
      - Canon RF 800 F11, for the sake of lightweight and supertele range, mainly wildlife and handheld video on the go/while hiking.
      The EF-S 17-55 2.8 (yes, basically very similar to the Sigma 18-50 just little bit longer and heavier) replaced in general purpose use my 50mm and once shorter primes on full frame completely, in fact 17 (up to around 25mm) and 55mm i use the most on this lens, all i sometimes wish it would be a 17-85mm (2.8 ofc...) since i began to enjoy the full sensor in video recording and sometimes i still need to go into 4k60 crop mode to get the reach i want (or even overshoot and so i need to zoom out, decreasing the bokeh even more)
      And the more i got used again to Zoom lenses, especially the 17-55 with its universal use and the Sigma 150-600C which is also very universal for wildlife of ANY kind, even macro is not too bad at 180-200mm, i began to avoid the primes as good as possible, the fact i have to use sometimes 4k60 crop mode on the R7 for the best results made the switch from primes to zooms also pretty necessary. For now, with the R7 i see definately a lot more advantages with zooms, as much i miss my RF 50 1.8 + RP combo which was just super compact, light and still performed awesome.

      "Doesnt make sense to buy affordable, nearly "cheap", big aperture glass if it performs worse at F2.8 than a basic 2.8 Zoom for example or cant even compete with a RF 50 1.8 in image quality at any aperture." --totally agree.
      I am using prime lens less and less nowadays. Mostly using my Tamron 28-200.
      "all i sometimes wish it would be a 17-85mm (2.8 ofc...)" -- that would be perfect, I want one too. ;)
      "50mm and 100mm 2.8 Macro" -- I always want to try macro photography. Maybe some day I will get one of these.
