+Matt Cochran things are going good, I'm waiting for the WX to clear up so I can get some real flying in instead of pattern work. I should get my ppl in a few months
I'm flying out there this July! Taking UNITED flight 15, direct Newark to Honolulu. Longest flight I've been on, 10 hours or so haha. It's on a 767-400 so I'm not complaining, can't beat the CF6! Great vid as always!
That's right-SCREAMS... Not growl/roar. GE engines sound like whiny screaming children lol. Although my flights UA15/14 got swapped to a 763 (all UA15/14 flights EWR-HNL-EWR are now on two class 763's from 10/30/16-12/16/16) at least the 763 has sweet sounding PW4060's. I guess that's my small consolation prize for not getting to go on the 764-but I'd put up with the CF6 noise in exchange for the ride on the 764. The RR and PW roar/growl > the GE whine any day of the week.
The CF6 whines when derated. My flight on the 767-400 roared like hell at a high setting cause we were fully loaded for the long journey. I respect your opinion, but we GE has the GE90, and that thing is incredible. Rolls Royce is amazing, especially on the 757. But the CF6 is one of the most reliable engines ever built, even on the A330 fleet. I think the CF6 series suits the 767-400, after all the CF6 isn't too shabby on the thrust end.....over 63,500lbs of thrust per engine. The RR Trent 700 has over 70K but still. Boeing made a great decision with the engine choice for their 767-400.
I love Hawaiian Airlines! Haven't been on them in years but I remember the fun flying, great service and those things of juice they hand out. Awesome work!
+Nickellaviation Thanks man! Oh I fell in love with Hawaiian. What a great airline. I betchya they'd be a lot of fun to work for. And the Juice! My god the Juice! SO delicious. Anyway, I got another Hawaiian flight I'm trying to upload but TH-cam is giving me shit. It's taken 18hrs to upload as of right now. Dammit. Thanks again good buddy! Great to hear from you!
At 10:10 That Crater is diamond head on Oahu and that 12:09 island of Lanai with small airport and 13:35 island of Maui and highest point mount Haleakala over 10000feet 17:31 is is the coast of island of Hawaii
+Indianapolis Airport Spotter (Zackary747) Thanks Zackary! Ahhh yes, good ol AirTran/Citrus. That was the last airline on which I flew a 717 too. God I miss em. Such a great airline. Far superior to Blue locust.
+thebropaul Hell Yeah! Thanks Paul! Those comments kind of became a rallying cry on subsequent flights so I'm sure you'll hear more very very soon. Thanks again!
+mark niehaus Thanks Mark! These were all shot using the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX300. It's much more affordable than a DSLR - and probably has better video quality (or at least is easier to shoot video with), check it out!
Great video Matty! I can just imagine how much fun it would be to travel with you anywhere. It does hurt though to come back home from a place like that, having to go right back to work, but atleast you can plan another vacation like this again. I know the rat race of the everyday can get to you but hey, you can always see paradise again. ^_^
+MesoCyclone HA! I wish my wife shared that sentiment. Dude, getting back into the swing of real life was RUTHLESS. It still is as a matter of fact. I HATE it! Not sure when I'll be able to get this close to paradise again, but I'm certain it will happen one of these days. Thanks!
FYI, Jin Air is a Korean airline that provides nonstop service in Incheon-Seoul. The reason for your plane's steep starboard bank almost immediately on rotation is because Rwy. 8R aims directly toward downtown Honolulu, and FAA regulations prohibit aircraft from flying directly overhead. The first island you were flying over was Lanai (pop. 3,000). The island to its north is Molokai (pop. 7,200). The second one you flew over is Kahoolawe, which is uninhabited.
Your comments made me laughing "There is some flaps! Oh yeah, big flaps" and "Throttle me harder" or some sort of... And yes, the engine sound is awesome!
+akuratsula Oh yeah! I've heard about that one. From what I understand it's like the commercial aviation equivalent of landing on a carrier. I love loud & hard! That would be awesome. We used to have similar landings in Key West. Not sure if they're as violent as SNA though. Thanks man!
Aloha Matt Cochran, I’m Cleyton...Very Nice To Meet You, I Subscribed To Channel And Love Your Videos. I Live On The Island Of Oah’u How Did You Like Your Vacation To Hawaii
+sambo722rt I KNOW! With all of that breathtaking scenery you'd think they would spit shine those bad boys. But I suppose that's not a reasonable thing to demand, is it? It's still fun to whine about though! Thanks Sam!
+AmtrakSpotterHD | Aviation & Rail Videos YAY! Oh man, Hawaiian's livery has to be one of the coolest out there. Easily in the top 5. Of course the A330 & 767 look much better than the good ol Mad Dog relative, but for me it's just a thrill to see a 717 that's NOT owned by Hometown Airline. Thanks you sir!
+Blonde_PhoenixStudios HA! Totally. It was an absolute blast. Total paradise. The only problem is trying to get back to normal after being out there, free of all obligations & responsibilities. Real life sucks
+Gate2Gate Aviation DEFINITELY! I was thrilled to be that close to the engine. I was even close on the flight from Kona to Maui, which you will see soon. Thanks Benjamin! I look forward to catching up with you out at Maynard's one of these days soon.
Ya it so cool you have to walk down jet stair on to Tarmac in Kona and Kona only Hawaii airport that you need to walk on Tarmac and use stairs To play at the golf course or go to the airport beach on the other side you have military pass and ID
+claude christopher Scott AHHHH! Oh man, I need to find a new friend w/a military pass cuz I would LOVE to watch airport ops from that golf course. I LOVED the Kona airport. So cool that the whole thing is open air. The TSA line was a pain in the ass, but other than that it was great. Thanks Claude!
Fun Fact: The reef runway 08R is not natural. It is man made and is entirely composed of trash/garbage/rubbish what ever you want to call it. Just something that you might find interesting. After living in Oahu for 13 years, you learn a lot about the island that you live on.
Another Fun Fact: HNL's "Reef Runway" (8R/26L) was constructed in 1977-78, and is the very first runway in the world to have been constructed entirely offshore.
AND IF YOU LOVE PLANE SO MUCH YOU SHOULD GO TO SXM airport of st Martin in Caribbean and go to Maho beach you can see the plane fly few feet right over you when they landing and when they take off you feel there jet blast on you and see the sand blowing and top ocean blowing just make sure you hold on tight on fence and any loose thing on you like cap so you don't get blow away or stuff blow away
+claude christopher Scott Oh I'm well aware of SXM. I've dreamt of going there for years. Still haven't had the opportunity, but one day I will hit Maho Beach for sure. Thanks again Claude!
Matt-love the videos but PLEASE PLEASE tone it back a bit bud! I feel like I'm watching a car wreck and can't look away sometimes (or lower the volume.). Great stuff but just... Simmer down a bit and let the plane and scenery do more talking ;-)
I was at the Blue Angels in Brunswick Maine speaking to an Air Force pilot next to his plane which was a refueler Casey 135 I was talking about Thursday versus he stopped me he said no no thrust reversers on this plane I said wow somebody did the Air Force decide on that said you didn't know
The Hawaiian Airlines inter-island flights are cramped and uncomfortable. The 717 plane is miserable and the seats are small and hard. Do not fly Hawaiian Airlines.
Great pictures but your narrative is a series of rambling and useless observations that come across as juvenile and rather shallow. "Wow" does not convey a lot of insight. As a previous write noted, let the scenery do the talking and keep your comments brief and intellectually informative.
Wow! I can see The coral reef ocean view.... nice video!
Great sights + great sounds = great vid. :)
+turbofanlover Those sights were unfathomable! I was amazed to witness such things. Thanks good buddy! I appreciate it!
Way cool Matt that was awesome keep them coming.
+Darryl Darling HEY DARRYL! Thanks man! I've got 3 more to go before we return to normalcy in boring ol Atlanta.
Beautiful flight. Brings back memories from 1976
+gimp6019 It certainly was. Thanks man!
3:46 the windsock heard the tetrahedron was coming over and got excited and on landing the sound of that JT8D made me about wet myself
+crapper1 HA! Totally! Oh man, imagine where I was sitting! Having it right next to me was radical. Thanks man!
Awesome video, loved the scenery.
+Flightbudy2channel HEEEEY AAAAAARON! Hope all is well. Thanks good buddy. The scenery was breathtaking!
+Matt Cochran things are going good, I'm waiting for the WX to clear up so I can get some real flying in instead of pattern work. I should get my ppl in a few months

The Hawaiian A330 from JFK with RR Trenr 772's beats a CF6 any day.
A CF6 spool up screams way more than a RR 330.
I'm not knocking the reliability I'm just saying I can't stand the sound of the 90 or the CF6... Whiny engines. RR and PW all day
Ok buddy can't wait thanks Matt.
I love Hawaiian Airlines! Haven't been on them in years but I remember the fun flying, great service and those things of juice they hand out. Awesome work!

Matt Cochran what's your favorite plane mines the maddog
Cool video and love the 717
+Cyril Uebbing Oh man, I agree. Thank Cyril!
At 10:10 That Crater is diamond head on Oahu and that 12:09 island of Lanai with small airport and 13:35 island of Maui and highest point mount Haleakala over 10000feet 17:31 is is the coast of island of Hawaii
+claude christopher Scott Oh YEAH! Diamond Head. My parents hiked that the day prior. SUCH a cool island chain, I miss it SO much.
Matt Cochran I'll be there in 21 days. Flying the same flight in this vid after spending 3 nights in waikiki.
you are the best Matt. That engine sound is one of a kind
Nice video! By the way, it's amazing that you were taxiing past a golf course just before the runway.
What an AMAZING video! Brings back so many memories on my 717 flights on airtran from IND-BWI and FLL-IND.
+Indianapolis Airport Spotter (Zackary747) Thanks Zackary! Ahhh yes, good ol AirTran/Citrus. That was the last airline on which I flew a 717 too. God I miss em. Such a great airline. Far superior to Blue locust.
In fact, The 717 was the first Boeing aircraft I flown.
"Throttle me harder", "Thrust reversal over my face" HAHAHAHA! 😂 Sickkk vid 💥👍🏻
+thebropaul Hell Yeah! Thanks Paul! Those comments kind of became a rallying cry on subsequent flights so I'm sure you'll hear more very very soon. Thanks again!
Matt what camera do you use for videos and keep up the great videos.
+mark niehaus Thanks Mark! These were all shot using the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX300. It's much more affordable than a DSLR - and probably has better video quality (or at least is easier to shoot video with), check it out!

Your comments made me laughing "There is some flaps! Oh yeah, big flaps" and "Throttle me harder" or some sort of... And yes, the engine sound is awesome!
+Nicolay Orlov HA! Those comments became more common as the vacation progressed & we took additional flights. Thanks Nicolay! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
if you want a roar on landing or a rough landing, fly into ksna, it is LOUD and hard.
+akuratsula Oh yeah! I've heard about that one. From what I understand it's like the commercial aviation equivalent of landing on a carrier. I love loud & hard! That would be awesome. We used to have similar landings in Key West. Not sure if they're as violent as SNA though. Thanks man!
nice
+Abdulsalam Ajayi Thank you sir!
Aloha Matt Cochran, I’m Cleyton...Very Nice To Meet You, I Subscribed To Channel And Love Your Videos. I Live On The Island Of Oah’u How Did You Like Your Vacation To Hawaii
What seat did you sat on?
Damn those filthy Windows!
+sambo722rt I KNOW! With all of that breathtaking scenery you'd think they would spit shine those bad boys. But I suppose that's not a reasonable thing to demand, is it? It's still fun to whine about though! Thanks Sam!
Probably from his filthy language :)
Great vid, I love flying on the 717.
Ah, a new Hawaii video!! I for one love Hawaiian's livery! On the A330 it looks better than on the 717, but anyway great video as always, Matt!
+AmtrakSpotterHD | Aviation & Rail Videos YAY! Oh man, Hawaiian's livery has to be one of the coolest out there. Easily in the top 5. I love Boeing 717 I hope they long live airlines like delta and Hawaiian
Your a funny man! You speak the words that all of us want to say but we don't!
Rode a 717 once. Didn't realize i'd like ti more from a comfort standpoint than the MadDog 90. It just glides and wasn't loud.
“Farewell oooooaaaaaaaahuuuuuuu!!!”
You're apperunitly cute, enjoy your day Matt.
I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Hawaii!! Imagine that! A golf course right at the airport!!
You lucky little.... *tries to contain self*
+Blonde_PhoenixStudios HA! Totally. It was an absolute blast. Total paradise. The only problem is trying to get back to normal after being out there, free of all obligations & responsibilities. Real life sucks
Matt Cochran pretty much the only interesting airports I've been to are KMCO and KMIA
Blonde_PhoenixAviation as someone who lives in MCO the only things here are the theme parks
The 717 has the best takeoff sound from inside the cabin by far! Great video Matt!
+Gate2Gate Aviation DEFINITELY! I was thrilled to be that close to the engine. I was even close on the flight from Kona to Maui, which you will see soon. Thanks Benjamin! I look forward to catching up with you out at Maynard's one of these days soon.
Gate2Gate Aviation well that might've only been because he was next to the engine
Couple rounds of golf before your flight? Great video! Matt, how do I subscribe to your channel? BTW, that KAL was a 747.
Ya it so cool you have to walk down jet stair on to Tarmac in Kona and Kona only Hawaii airport that you need to walk on Tarmac and use stairs
To play at the golf course or go to the airport beach on the other side you have military pass and ID

No one on the golf course needs clubs because the planes will blow the balls on the green😂
"Thrust reverse all over my face! Yeah!" Hahahaha gawly I'm perverted. But so are you.
Great video!
really nice video sucks the windows are dirty
Military golf course. The banking is noise abatement proceedure.
AND IF YOU LOVE PLANE SO MUCH YOU SHOULD GO TO SXM airport of st Martin in Caribbean and go to

You also a foreign in Hawaii
Rip headphones users
Enjoyed the video but the talking was annoying.

Yeah, but isn't the guy 13 years old?
