I´ve always had this terrible fear of flying, but after watching your videos for over 3 months now I´m really beginning to love it! Thank you sir, so much ;)
@@sla31, oh! That was so sweet of you to say!! I really enjoyed the video... I felt like I was on my way to see my mom. I could feel the humid heat and smell the air; I nearly caught myself looking for the Wiki Wiki Shuttle!!! 😂😂 God bless you!!
Ahhh it has the old livery on it. We should be painting this one here soon. N485HA. Those ones in the back at the beginning of the video, I’m sure we painted those.
I like flying on old liveries. Sure it's cool to fly on a newly painted plane when a livery is new, but there comes a point when the old livery is more rare than the new. I just flew on an American Eagle ERJ-140 the other day and it was still wearing the old red, white, and blue stripe livery. It's one of the only ones left to still wear the old American livery. I'd much rather fly it than the new one that I'll fly on, probably, dozens of times in the coming years. Thanks for watching my friend!
Skylite Productions oh my yeah that’s a really old livery. Being an aircraft painter, it’s so mind blowing the difference from when an aircraft arrives from service and leaves when we’re done all nice and shiny. But yes spitting out those old rare liveries are a pin in a hay stack. Keep flying 🤙
You've just made me one happy person! What a nice surprise. I've always wanted to fly aboard one of these, and I may never get to do this. I hear it's a nice plane, and it sounds so cool. Love it! Thank you so much
Landing in Kona is always kinda freaky. Not the landing itself but the scenery once your on the ground. On the runway it looks like your on the moon or Mars with all the lava rocks around. Its really feels like another world outside the window.
The 717's engines are Rolls-Royce BR715 turbofans built in Dahlewitz, Germany by what was originally a joint venture with BMW. Rolls-Royce assumed full ownership of what is now Rolls-Royce Deutschland GmbH in 2000. Hawaiian's A330s are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to the best of my knowledge.
Well, it looks like a shorter MD-90 because it is a shorter MD-90. The 717 was originally developed by McDonnell Douglas as the MD-95. It was a short version of the MD-90 with Rolls Royce engines. Yes, the 717's are still flying with Hawaiian and Delta.
Typically these flights are flown around 15-20 thousand feet. I don't know what this flights actual cruise altitude was. But, due to the short nature of the flights they don't usually go higher.
@@hydeaway1 because that’s not something I keep track of when I take the flights, and I don’t have any premium subscriptions to any flight radar type services. So after 7 days, or however long flights are listed for, I can’t go back and see that.
@@hydeaway1 so, apps/websites like flightradar, flightview, and flightaware keep track of that information. But, unless you pay them a subscription fee, you can only see that info for a few days. And since I don’t keep track of that information in my spreadsheet that I keep, after a few days I don’t know that information anymore.
Thanks for watching guys! Like Donald said they are actually pretty comfortable, but they do not recline. Although, it's not like you really need it to recline on 25-40 minute flights.
Hawaiian 🌺 Airlines logo one of the most beautiful livery logo in the world. Hopefully they add real pictures of Hawaiian women to the tail similarly to Frontier Airlines they add animals and birds
Well, there is first class on these flights. I believe there are eight first class seats on Hawaiian's 717s, but I didn't sit in first class, so I didn't show it. Considering all of the seats were already taken by passengers when I boarded. Not only is it not polite to film someone without asking them, but it's also against the airlines rules. So I try to film people as little as possible.
This aircraft is one of my all time favorites! I love the 717!
Me too my friend. I love the McDonnell Douglas era of aircraft. Of course, the 717 was originally the MD-95. Thanks for watching my friend!

What a beautiful plane.😊
It is indeed! Thanks for watching my friend!
You welcome 😊
So miss flying Hawaiian Airlines to Honolulu to see my mom, who will be eighty-eight on June 25, 2019. Missing her so much.
88! If we all live to be 88 or older we'll have had great lives! I hope you get to visit her soon my friend! Thanks for watching!

I've always loved being able to be right next to the engine and hearing the noises of it spooling up.
Me to my friend. Thanks for watching!
Skylite Productions can you please do a face reveal ?
Spooling up...

The best economy seat period! Nice catch of the S.S. Minnow at 18:45. The contorted shadow at 38:23 looks like a DC-9-20.
Hopefully they weren't goin on a three hour tour. Thanks for watching my friend!
Good stuff man! Can never get bored of the 717 :)
Thanks man!

You have 5 years. Maybe, just maybe.
Awesome video! It's so nice to see the 717 still flying with Hawaiian =D
Thanks my friend! It'll be a sad day when all of the 717's are gone.

Those seats looked VERY thin!
They are. But surprisingly, they're actually more comfortable than the old thick ones and further, the new thin seats provide for a bit more leg room.
