16:16 The Godfrey shade IS there for a reason. It's the same color as Morgott's summoned weapons, so we can assume that he summoned a shade of Godfrey, his father, to defend the city. This is kinda proven further in the cutscene before Godfrey's actual fight, where he's cradling the dead Morgott, so you can infer that they had some sort of loving relationship. Morgott at least respected him enough to summon him as a defender of Leyndell.
Didn't Godfrey approve of Morgott being locked in the sewers though? I suppose there is some reason then, but as tarnished on our journey we just accidentally walk into a room with a reused boss which (in my opinion) isn't the most rewarding type of encounter. Thanks for the comment!

He was consort to Marika, so she called the shots mainly, so it's most likely that she exiled Morgott and Mohg against Godfrey's wishes, since it's clear he valued Morgott as his child. It's fitting, because Godfrey is the first Tarnished, who are treated as lesser as well.

i love the videos, (i pick and choose which ones i watch) all because im on the journey to finish all FromSoft games (with no summons) & i dont want spoilers with bosses as Elden Ring was my first FromSoft game. I am LOVING it. So far i have beaten ER (gonna go for round 2) , DS1, Demon Souls, & i am almost done with DS2. I cannot wait until im done with everything

Yhorm is actually a pretty fun fight if you just don’t use the storm ruler. Hitting his right hand will stagger him and open him up for ripostes. His moveset is fun to learn, and he’s actually one of the better giant bosses in the series. Again, as long as you don’t use the storm ruler.
Someone needs to remake Yhorm's fights his moves (the ones we got) are a spectacle when he's embered. His OST is one of the best... He also is not a shit giant fight if you think of it. As you are not hacking at his feet, would love to see as you said the Serpent hunter great spear would be amazing in his fight with damage lowered. However I also do feel Yhorm's moveset needs to be expanded. I would love if he had a true bezerk mode like the hollow manservants have in the undead settlement.
I really like the Yhorm fight. You bring up a really good point that it’s a giant fight where you can actually see the giant most of the fight. They perfected the formula with Rykard though. A DS3 Remake with an improved battle mechanic would be really cool
Don't want to make you uncomfortable, but the celestial emissary are actually children used for experiments by the choir.. thats why they are in the "orphanage"... kinda makes me always feel bad for killing this boss.
I am missing some bloodborne Bosses like Ludwig, or the dlc Final Boss, can‘t remember his name. Orphan of Chaos or something like That. Also the Strormking Boss from DS3 was epic.

About 6-8 months ago I replayed all of the games for footage. Took a long time, and I've been working on the list since I started replaying them. It's been a long time in the making!
This ranking severely suffers from premade opinions by the crowds I believe, where things that are widely know or agreed upon make your brain go "oh yeah, that must be so." Sure DS1 bosses were great at the time and for the most part hold up even now, but if you compare gaping dragon to magma wyrm now, can you really in all seriousness say that gaping dragon is better? Both got charge attacks, both look cool, except magma wyrm got more moves and phase 2. Can you also say that a freaking asylym demon or even torus demon are better than godskin noble? Nope, like in every way noble is better fight, harder, got more moves, looks better. Mean while those two just kind of follow ds2 logic, couple of boring swipes and such. They were great for their position in the game, being early, so theres that I guess. Point is that if we dont bring up ds1 or ds2 a few levels in our heads with reasoning like oh it was good at the time, so there fore bosses that are better now got to be rated somehow worse, then elden ring basically blows out of the water everything but very few DS1 and DS2 bosses, while ds3 still holds well. Reason why I don't wanna pretend that asylum demon and such are better than eldern ring bosses is cause DS1 really has legendary bosses like entire artorious dlc line up.
Over the decade, Fromsoft has gathered more resources and experience making bosses, making their quality improve over time. My average ranking of a DS1 boss is a 6.38 vs Elden ring at 8.03 (I'll give more of this kind of data at the end of the series). I don't think the bosses of DS1 beat the bosses of Elden Ring, hence why there have only been a few Elden Ring bosses that have shown up so far, versus a dozen ds1 and ds2 bosses. But I am giving partial credit to those that pioneered. That's kind of like looking back at music from the 50s and saying "look how simple the production is! There's no way it could hold up today!" Well yes, and no. There are songs that created the foundation for entire new genres that were invented later on. I think it's worth noting their creative contributions. Also, Asylum Demon is a tutorial boss so comparing it 1 to 1 is kind of silly in my mind.
I understand the comparison between the Gaping Dragon and Magma Wyrm but I think there's more to it than just the gameplay design of the individual bosses. Gaping Dragon has a (imo) better OST, only appears once and not (6?) times like the Magma Wyrm and is just generally better suited to its position within the game by being more balanced to the area. Not to mention personal opinion on aesthetics of the boss, which (imo) Gaping Dragon would win in. I think on the basis, taking each boss in isolation the Wyrm's are definitely better, but, and I can't speak for everyone, I often found myself discovering them and just wailing on them until they died because they never really ended up well balanced, and due to that I never really felt the need to engage with the boss' moveset like I did Gaping Dragon (no summoning for both). Conclusively Gaping Dragon is just much more memorable to me and I enjoy the encounter more.
One thing to take into consideration is, despite fromsoft having the expertise that they have now, just how valuable is a fight like magma wyrm in 2022 after all the amazing bosses they made in their later games? Darkeater midir proved that fromsoft have moved beyond the janky and terrible design of a boss hurting you just because their hold body became a large hitbox, but magma wyrm brought that terrible design back, it's a huge step back and lazy design, plus this lazy design is reused multiple times with almost no variation (unlike the dragons and tree sentinels) apart from higher hp and more damage. Because of this, in my opinion magma wyrm is worse design than gaping dragon (who is also mediocre imo), because we got a 2011-2014 style boss in 2022 where fresher, more complex and more polished side bosses like apostle, noble, bell bearing hunter, crucible knight, tree sentinel and dragons exist. He feels like a relic compared to them. Same thing goes for the erdtree avatar, i appreciate asylum demon far more, but to be fair even asylum demon deserves some flak for being almost identical to vanguard from demon's souls. I do kind of agree on godskin noble though, the main knocks on him are the countless reskins and the godskin duo fight. It must be tough ranking bosses though, you have to factor in innovation, personal enjoyment, arena, mechanics, and even lore, aesthetics and music. Emma and Aldrich would be wayyy higher for me lol.
I completely disagree. I played DS1 recently and I enjoyed Gaping Dragon way more than Magma Wyrm. You also have to judge a fight based on the context of the game. You’re way more limited in movement in DS1 so while Gaping Dragon is less complex mechanically than Magma Wyrm, i’d say he’s more equipped to killing you than Magma Wyrm since Elden Ring gives you way more options in combat. Gaping Dragon just feels much more engaging imo.
I think what could've made Yhorm amazing is an idea where the blade does decent damage uncharged, but if you charge the blade and store it you get a damage boost and more opportunity to knock him down. Then when he falls down, you can let loose the weapon art to get a knock-down exclusive boost that takes a bigger chunk of health. Then there could be a cutscene transition where Yhorm sets himself ablaze (and maybe a unique cutscene if you have Siegward with you), and then you have to balance fire after-effects with Yhorm's wide swings as you charge the blade, until you eventually take him down.
I can see your argument, but I’m going to be doing the same with elden beast and radagon. The fights are so unbelievably distinct that it’s worth considering separately in my book, but I could see both sides.
Intresting video idea @Nightwalk 2 with Rykard being a "fixed improved Yhorm fight" why not make a video called REMAKING BAD BOSS FIGHTS, in the vid you discuss how mechanics can be introduced and other shit to make boss fights that were disliked better.

Seath really would be bottom 20 for me. Simply because getting his tail for the MGS is one of the worst experiences this series has to offer. Why have the exact point of the tail you need to strike clip into the wall so far you physically can't reach it? He turns so fast you can't reasonably catch him before the tail is too far clipped to be able to hit. Stupid boss.
Curse Rotted Great Tree is an awful, awful, awful fight and I want to say it should be considerably lower, but then all the ones you already mentioned are pretty awful too. Blue Smelter should be lower for the run alone as well, it's actually so bad that Frigid Outskirts is only marginally the worst boss run in the game, which is spectacular since it's the worst boss run up in gaming history!Wolnir is also really, really bad in literally every way but lore. I killed The Rotten way too many times to ever enjoy that fight again, it's one of the meh fights for me, Executioner though is definitely worse. Maybe I missed it in a previous episode, it's pretty late as I watch this on lack of sleep, but how on earth has the weird one eyed stone frog thing at the end of Shrine of Amarna not shown up yet? It's awful in every respect.

Maybe I missed it in a previous episode, it's pretty late as I watch this on lack of sleep, but how on earth has the weird one eyed stone frog thing at the end of Shrine of Amarna not shown up yet? It's awful in every respect.
