Stevie Ray Vaughan little wing live reaction music videos.
This guy is an incredible guitar talent. Many regard SRV as the best guitarist in the world.
The scary thing is he died way before his prime. That alone is a scary thought, considering how highly he is regarded.
In this performance of Little Wing,SRV does what he does best.Making that guitar bleed.
Enjoy this reaction.
In my 45 yrs on the planet I’ve never heard anything as savage/beautiful.
Shit makes me fucking cry ❤️🔥
Greetings from Austin Texas. I saw stevie in July 1990 one month before he died. He sounded the best that I'd ever heard him play. It was such a shock when I heard of his passing.there will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughan!
I really wish everyone could have seen and heard Stevie in person. One of the greatest experiences in my life. He was an extraordinary gift to this World.
I did 🙋♀️ ❤️❤️❤️
Saw him and Jeff beck play at the garden 6months before the helicopter crash.rip for a great genius.
I'm 68 now and only started listening to stevie ray this year!! All those years I missed out on the greatest guitar player ever!! Unreal he has the fastest hands I've ever seen!! Behind his back and replacing his guitar with broken string!! And a voice to match his great abilities!! We are blessed to watch perfection!!
Re: his not playing stuff exactly... An interviewer asked SRV's older brother Jimmy Vaughn (Fabulous Thunderbirds for many years) .. "Does Stevie ever play a song tbe same way twice?"
Jimmy quickly quipped, "Hell, Stevie never plays a song the same way ONCE." 😁
This whole concert has got to be the greatest display of guitar virtuosity ever recorded
I agree that watching SRV play is a treat for the eyes as well as the ears. He can play the same song but never seems to play it exactly the same. This is why people often request his songs by the actual performance. Thank you for reacting to him.
What's especially amazing is SRV's ability to simultaneously capture the essence of Jimi's style and merge it with his own. Do people realize how incredibly difficult it is to duplicate the sound of an iconic musical genius--and then build upon it? It's almost beyond belief!
My son discovered his music in the early 80s and saw over 25 of his shows,I went and saw st one of his last shows, Dr John and Joe Cocker opened for him, it was a fantastic show, so glad I got to see him
You have just experienced SRV the true GOAT. I was lucky enough to have seen him do a show a few years before he was killed. He was absolute magic!
My Love of Stevie..Each time I listen to his songs. I swear it Never gets Old. My soul needs this inside of me. How Blessed we are to have had Stevie..He didn't play that guitar he Was the Guitar 🎸👑🐐👑🎸
The calluses on Stevies finger tips were super glued on.
He has a Little Wing version from Swedish festival I believe that kills it too.
Stevie is undeniable. I saw his show in Austin before he was famous and was simply mesmerized. He's why I play today.
A little history, every studio album went double platinum in US and Platinum (save one) in Canada. He has, I dunno like 8 Grammy's, played on Bowies album back in the day when DB saw him at Montreaux. His untimely death in 1990 shocked me to my core. Please, dont dismiss his studio albums. SRV and Double Trouble produced some spectacular studio work as well as being the ultimate "Guitar God" live.
Rock on, Harri.
Hendrix was my #1 guitarist from 1975 to about 1991.
When people would tell me SRV was as good I’d laugh.
But by 1995 I couldn’t fight it no more, SRV now holds that distinction! Rip greatest SRV we miss you!!!FYI Stevie glued his callouses back onto his fingertips!
What's fun is listening to SRV play the same titles at different performances. So wonderfully unscripted. The song is new every time. Thanks, Harri, for your love of music -
This video is from his concert from the El Macambo venue. Must have been one helluva concert. " Texas
flood" and "Lenny" from this concert are worth watching.
Absolutely love your SRV reactions and insight. Keep them coming.
1) Voodoo Child at Starwood Theater in Nashville
2) Mary Had a Little Lamb at Austin City Limits 1989
3) Leave My Girl Alone at Austin City Limits 1989
4) Tightrope at Austin City Limits 1989
Nothing "wrong" with his fingers. He would oftentimes tear the calluses off his fingertips and would use superglue to reattach them. If you'll watch "Life Without You" live in Finland (Cotton Club), you'll see a close up of his fingertips.
He played with 13ga strings, so it was like playing with utility lines. Given the combo of heavy guage strings, combined with the way he attacked the guitar, his fingers took serious abuse. Later in his career, post drug addiction, he took much better care of his hands/fingers and you rarely saw the blackened and torn up fingers that you saw in his earlier days.
Many, many, many great guitarists have graced us with their music, but Stevie has taken us to another level. He was truly a gift from the heaven's and we are blessed to have his music.
I love everything SRV does, but I really enjoy it when he slows it down a bit. The texture in his playing just comes out so much more.
FYI: Vintage Blues in 4K is a TH-cam channel that is converting old blues videos into 4K. He has done quite a few of SRV. The color, picture clarity and sound is much improved.
Thanks for the info!
When SRV plays, it is as if he just "Channels" his Spirit and Soul through his guitars and in such an effortless and unique way that he is simply mesmerizing! Oh and Harri, some of that "Black" stuff on SRV's fingers may have been from the "Nickel" that is used in the manufacturing of Guitar strings. If his strings were new, they might leave a Blackish residue BC "Jeweler's Rouge" is used in the polishing of "Nickle" used in the making of guitar strings? Sorry but that's all I've got for ya Harri. Keep Smiling...
Honey that wasn't sweat....it was straight up Crown & coke (the powdered kind) dripping out of his pores!! He used to spike his Crown w/ some powder & stir in so that it appeared he was just having a drink while on stage. Obviously, he was a very hi functioning addict. But it did take it's toll, & I was so happy for him when he got sober in 1987!! (He was a friend, just part of the gang. So I've seen him play live many times, both formally & informally.) A part of SRV's brain functioned on a whole different level/plane/stratosphere than the rest of us (including his guitar peers.) He had such an amazing ear for sound (of all kinds, but primarily music.) He loved listening to all genres of music, & always said that even if he didn't like it, he always learned something from it. Of course playing the blues was his passion, but he also incorporated some blues rock, rock n roll, jazz, & European style electric blues into his playing. It's the combination of those influences that gave him his unique style/sound....one that no one has been able to replicate to date & I don't believe ever will. Sure, there are other great guitarists....Hendrix, Van Halen, Prince, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Clapton, BB King...who are all solid 10+'s. But SRV is up there in the stratosphere...or as many reactors say "he's not human" or "he's an alien." That, he was, when it came to music/guitar/vocals...
I see Riviera Paradise has been requested. Beautiful instrumental! A little background on that song: SRV & DT had had a long day recording in the studio. Everyone had left except for SRV & the studio manager. The mgr had started shutting the lights off when SRV asked him if he would leave the lights on but turned down very low & leave the recorder on. SRV then went back on the studio stage. When he did, he created the song while playing it!! And it's that track that was used on his album. One time, one take!! The rest of the band had to come in at later date to play & record their parts! May I request Pride & Joy if u haven't yet done it (live at Montreax Jazz Festival in Switzerland.) Thx & enjoyed this reaction!!
(Hey btw...I prolly shouldn't have called you Honey! Sorry...no disrespect intended whatsoever. It's just that I'm from Texas & that's the way we talk 'round here!! We use that term w/ just about everybody!🤷🏼♀️)
Another great reaction.. and yes I meant this song too and the Texas flood I mentioned awhile back is also at this concert.. and another level up from this.. if there that level actually exists 🙌
Stevie is a beast on that Strat! Greeting from Oklahoma, Peace
Hey Mr T
This rendition is incredible! SRV was a blues guitarist beast! J. Hendrix would be impressed
I've come to see Stevie as a virtuoso in the true sense of the word.
The man doesn’t even have the sing a lick to be mesmerizing!!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
SRV ~ 🎸🐐
That's not sweat. He's just oozing soul. 😅
hahahahahah love it!
SRV played the thickest/ heaviest guitar strings on his guitars because they achieved the sound he wanted. The thick strings would cut his fingertips. To remedy this, he would squeeze tiny amounts of super
glue onto his cuts so he could keep on playing the 🎸 his way. This concert was taped in 1983 during Stevie's DNA(Drugs & Alcohol) days. He was clean and sober in the last 5 years of his life. BTW, ✔️ out "Pipeline" with his big brother Jimmy of The Fabulous ThunderBirds fame.
Part of Stevie's unique sound is that he played 13 gauge strings--described by some as playing barbed-wire. So, the strings would tear his fingers. He fixed them by using some type of super-glue , which he would apply to his fingers and then press to his other hand. Some of the skin would pull off the other hand and be glued to his torn fingertips. That is what you saw.
A little more--SRV told his bandmates--Double Trouble--that they all needed to leave everything on the stage with every performance. They always gave it their all. He felt the audience deserved no less.
Damn! That sounds so painful Cathy
He would sort of go into a trance and tap into the source of music, hold on, and let it flow through him. Sometimes he’s surprised by what comes through. You can see that about halfway through here when he shreds, then turns to Tommy Shannon and laughs. He was the best: little guy with huge hands. He said he wasn’t very good at school, and the only way he had to express himself was through his guitar.
You nailed it, and I felt and saw that too....
From what I've read of other comments elsewhere about SRV (and you know what they say about that)
He never had a set list, just got up and played what he wanted.
He couldn't read music.
He failed a music course. WTH?
His brother Jimmy said Stevie played guitar like he was breaking out of jail. 😁
A favorite of mine is "Tin Pan Alley" with Johnny Copeland.
@Emem Nicholas....he did have a playlist for each show/concert, but he wasn't afraid to change it mid show. They did play a gig in one of the bars on 6th St, Austin. But they never played on 6th St again bc all the bars there didn't want them playing their own playlist, they wanted them to play a set list of songs they wanted the band to play (covers of other musicians songs...one's he didn't cover.) In fact there were only 3 bars/clubs in Austin at the time that would let them play their own playlist. So they stuck to playing at those 3 bars...
@@dinahgray5396 Thanks for keeping me straight, Dinah. I was never lucky enough to see him live and the internet lies 😁
@@ememnicholas565 lol...that, it do!! But this was before Al Gore created the internet🤣, so...we didn't have one to lie to us back then!!😊 I'm just speaking from personal knowledge, not from anything I've read. SRV was a friend of mine, just part of the gang. We all hung out together quite a bit. So I've seen him play live many times, both formally & informally. I sooo wish everyone could have seen him live!! As far as reading music...I've heard some commenters say he could, others say he couldn't. What I can say about that is this... I never once saw him with sheet music at any time. He didn't need it. Now, it's possible that he learned how to read it as a kid, but then gave it up bc it served no purpose to him. Shoot, he's had a guitar in his hands since the time he could walk...almost non-stop! And yeah, I think he did enroll in a music class at Univ of Texas in the late 70's. But I can almost guarantee that he flunked it bc he never showed up for class...lmao😂. Obviously, he didn't need the class anyway!! But he was a great guy, a lot of fun, great sense of humor, very humble, yet straight-up badass & genius!!👌 (Hey...not trying to straighten you out...just tryin' to fill you in!! Hope it doesn't sound like a lecture!!😊👍)
@@dinahgray5396 Wow, aren't you the lucky girl! I'm not surprised by your recollections of his personality, those qualities come through in his performances. Such wonderful memories to have and thank you for sharing them with all of us.
I feel blessed to have crossed wires with you.
@@ememnicholas565 yes....I feel very lucky, grateful & blessed to have known him! It was a very sad day in Texas when he died. He was one of our best kept secrets for many years! Of course by the time he passed, he was much more well known. But he remained himself & never thot of himself as a star or celebrity or as a better person than anyone else. I suppose it's for that reason that those of us who knew him, those who met & talked to him, or just his superfans...will always feel the need to have his back, in his absence! Peace & take care!!✌🏼
Stevie Ray and Hendrix true legends gone but never forgotten
I grew up on Hendrix
When I Stevie's version of Vodoo Chile I thought is this guy better than Hendrix?
When I heard Little Wing ,, there was no doubt, SRV is the GOAT.
Stevie got genius in his DNA. He could play Clapton and Hendrix at age 14. He built on that Albert King and B B King. The band Double Trouble also is rock solid tight.
Listen to Lenny or Riviera Paradise. Two instrumentals of SRV. He will ruin all other guitarist for you for sure!
Definitely Riviera Paradise live in Austin Texas is one that would blow his mind. Love this dude’s reaction. One of the very few that seems to react GENUINELY!
You are right about. Not rehearsed. Stevie once said. If i think about what im playing i start to lose it
This is my favorite SRV song
Love your reactions Harri. Just wanted to say that - keep care and best wishes.
Thanks, you too!
The very best surrender themselves to the muse and the music plays them....
Who needs lyrics when u have this!...Ty Harri
Oh my god, I actually love SRV’s Little Wing a little bit more than Hendrix. No singing, just all heart & soul through that guitar.
Mary had a little lamb,1989
I would love to see your reaction to leave my girl alone live!
Coming soon!
Lenny 😩🥺🤩✨
I know I recommended some of his originals, this is another Hendrix tune. Still a great performance and reaction.
He had fInd the magic key, and he his the only one untill today
i have a hard time being satisfied with other guitarists since i discovered him...
“Lenny” would be the most reasonable song to listen to by SRV next.
Most people play music. Music plays through Stevie. My suggestion- Riviera Paradise(studio version). Magic was captured on tape.
The Derek and the Dominoes version with Eric Clapton And Duane Allman still my favorite, but SRV really tears it up here. Great reaction, keep it going.
Thanks for listening
The band doesn't get enough credit. Can you imagine having to keep rhythm with SRV?
THE MASTER!
I consider this tune to be Hendrix's masterpiece. Fantastic!
My most loved one from Jimi , SRV is the only who followed ... what lost's 😭
May They Jam in Heaven , listend by Angels
God SRV can do Hendrix so effing well. If I had my eyes closed I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart on this song. Have you heard Hendrix do this ? If not you must
That video cuts him short, he does some Hendrix stuff (throws his guitar on the floor and plays it, etc.) at the end in the full performance.
Another great Texas guitar player was the late Chris Whitley . Check out Phone Call from Leavenworth if you get a chance . Not sure if he and SRV ever met but they are two greats . Loving the Stevie Ray stuff .
He will do this to everyone😂🙏
Best react intro ever 👌
He had to glue his finger tips on, cuz he's a badass ❤
He looks so young!
SRV, Jimi and Clapton all played excellent versions of "Little Wing". There may be others now extant.
Let's it go? That's Blues man.
From what I've read, the black stuff on his fingers were from the stuff his guitar tech would put on the strings so his fingers could move up and down them without cut them so much and on top of the black stuff was the calluses and super glue
Live at l macombo.
Please check this out
SRV - "Leave My Girl Alone" - Live Austin TX.
Yeah for a new Stevie Ray‼️. As far as the black fingertips and strange look it is from bending those 13 gauge piano wire strings and he would often lose the calluses off his fingertips and use super glue to put them back. Think about that!
Not just glue them back, he developed an entire system for patching the ends of his fingers because they would get so torn apart. He had a kit, like a tire repair kit, that he carried everywhere and would use as needed to put the ends of his fingers back together.
Vocals we don't need no stinken vocals . On this one .
Yet SRV has them if needed . Haven't found a song yet by SRV that I've heard that is terrible . Hell even his sound checks are a good listen .
His fingers were always torn up, he played with 13 gage strings which are brutal, sometimes he’s put glue on his fingers before playing so as it didn’t tear his fingers hers up, maybe when you noticed his fingers were bad and needed something extra, the guy literally broke 13 stings like they were nothing but the toll on the fingers were bad
He played with 13 gauge strings and his fingertips would come off. So he super glued them back on and just kept it moving. After he sobered up, he did back down the gauge of strings, but I never noticed. When asked why he changed them he answered that now he could feel his fingers after he got sober lol
Damn! He was all about his art..
He crazy glued his fingers after the skin would get shredded from jamming
Give a listen and reaction to Darrel Mansfield, song "People get ready" live and "Walk with me Jesus" live. Mr. Darrell Mansfield plays the harmonica like SRV plays the guitar.
He would shred so hard at times he would tear his finger tips and have to reattach them.
He used to get calloused fingertips from the strings he used. He would superglue his fingertips back on. Thats why he had black fingers. Also, this is cocaine era SRV, before he got clean.
You may enjoy Larry hutcherson play 'little wing' on lap steel guitar
Huge fan of SVR. You might also want to check out Joe Bonamassa live at the RAH esp. "Woke Up Dreamin'". Also check out Eddie Van Halen "Eruption" live.
oh, and OUCH!!!!! no HEART either?!! you have some good titles that you have done, but you must react to "stairway to heaven" by heart (live, at the kennedy center, in front of led zeppelin). heart is an outstanding band.
May I suggest "Siberian Khatru" by YES, I would do the recorded version from Close To The Edge album first. I think you'll like it.
If you like this you should react to John Mayer Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. Mayer is probably the biggest SRV fan boy there is currently.
See his cover of Hendrix's Third Stone From The Sun it will put a smile on your face.
I do love this song, but I think Texas Flood is even more impressive. If you want to see/hear some amazing guitar playing, check out Texas Flood.
His callouses would rip off his fingers because he played really heavy gauge strings and high action so he would fill the holes with super glue. That was bruises on his fingers because he played so hard all the time. He was an animal. His brother Jimmie said he likes to make love to the guitar Stevie grabbed it a rapped the shit out of it. Lol. Don’t mean to offend anyone.
Too Painful to even try to comprehend
@@HarriBestReactions he was a giant among guitar players and only 5’5” tall. He’s been my favorite since I was a kid and I’ve known people who knew him. I almost got to see him but my Mom wouldn’t let me go. She said he’ll be back. Well sadly we know the rest of the story.
You should check out Kenny Wayne Shepherd while we cry lock down version or live version. Or blue on black at guitar central. I won’t lead you astray on good music my friend.
Better than Hendrix
WHOA MISTER!!!!!!! no jimi hendrix?! really? try "hey joe" live, and you won't turn back....
PLEASE, CHECK OUT BETH HART LIVE AT PARADESIAL " .. WHOLE LOTTA LOVE .. ALSO IM I THE ONE SAME CONCERT LIVE, THANK SHES AS AMAZING AS STEVIE RAY BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY. .. JANIS JOPLIN REINCARNATED ???? SHE CAN SING ANYTHING CHECK HER
Now listen to the original by Jimi Hendrix
Play the whole concert and then Austin city limits and then you will just scratch the surface
If you like Stevie Ray Vaughan, check out Jeff Healey, he blew SRV, B.B. King and just about everybody else away with how he played guitar, truly one of a kind!!!!!!
Got a couple of songs for you. You love the harmonies of Crosby stills and Nash......
This one is going to put Goosebumps all over you.
Song is called place your love by a band called Roxette.
You might know this band because of a song called she's got the look but this song is a hidden gem in The Middle of all of the albums that Nobody has ever heard And it's one of those songs that will bring you to tears the first time you hear It.
