The great guitarist of the age were in awe of Stevie. Eric Clapton said that every other player in the world sort of "takes a break" during improvised solos but not Stevie. He just continues to flow without hesitation. He played with all of the great black bluesmen that were still living and they all loved him as a person and a player.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness In this performance, he was in the midst of his drug and alcohol addiction, and there is a noticeable physical difference in his appearance when compared to your first SRV vid (Voodoo Child). In the Voodoo Child vid he is clean and sober and he looks healthy and happy. In fact, his music did a drastic change when he became sober. His 'In Step' album is about overcoming addiction and making amends (Tightrope) to those he hurt along the way. He also began to dabble is jazz (Riviera Paradise) and was leaning more towards Rock (Crossfire, The House is Rockin), yet still remaining true to his Blues roots (Leave My Girl alone). As stated previously, he was a kind and humble soul and is sorely missed by his fanbase. Next on your list must be: **Life Without You at Capitol Theater** He may, or may not, do some even crazier things with the guitar than he did in Texas Flood.🤷♂️😉

I enjoyed your reaction! I was fortunate to expereince 8 SRV concerts before his tragic death. The man could touch your soul through his music. I also suggest Life Without You, live at Capital Theater. It is a magical performance, almost like going to church spiritually. Stevie wrote the song after the passing of a close mentor. So much depends where you grew up. I was raised in the south US with Prince. My husband lived closer to, say, Memphis, so grew up listening to more blues style music, including SRV. So far, I've only witnessed 3 people who - how do I put this? - was born with a guitar in their hands? Like the instrument was a part of their bodies - Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and SRV. This video is SICK! Thanks for watching it. Music is one way hubby & I connected: I introduced him to Prince, and he introduced me to SRV. We were each enthralled with what the other's "favorite' could do. We are now in our 50s, and both artists have sadly passed away. But we have only 2 things up in our home office: a poster of Prince in "Under The Cherry Moon," and a large sketch of SRV. They must be rocking away in Heaven!

Sadly, I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley Wisconsin August 26th 1990. The fog was so bad that we stopped and got a hotel room on the way home. The lineup was SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Stevie's brother Jimmie and Buddy Guy. RIP SRV!

SRV played more behind his back than most guitarist plays in front. And a little fun fact was when he was recording Voo Doo Child he went and asked Jimmy Hendrix father if he could borrow his foot pedal and Jimmy's father gave it to him.
Lucky to have seen him 3 times in concert. First time he was warming up for BOSTON. Had no idea who he was, but it was one of those "OMFG, who is this guy?" moments. Third time was with his brother Jimmie's band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds , warming up for him. In between sets, Jimmie sits down with a double neck guitar, Stevie stands behind him , and they start playing it together.
now i bet that was an experience ... not only did you hear him first hand ...but to hear and see him before he came huge! Super Jealous haha!! oh, does Jimmy and his band have any songs i should check out?

There is NO ONE better than Stevie Ray. Hendrix,Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Randy Rhoades, and Ritchie Blackmore are probably the closest ones but Stevie is on a completely different level.

I used to frequent the El Mocambo in the 70's and we referred to it as The Elmo. Missed this one though 😭. Another great SRV video is Look At Little Sister, with Jeff Healey. Jeff will blow you away and you can see Stevie smile when Jeff takes the lead. They admired one another and sadly, both are gone now. FYI - Jeff was blind. Thanks & cheers from Canada!

Chris Layton on drums plus Tommy Shannon (ex-Johnny Winter's bands) = "Double Trouble." They later (1985) added Reese Wynans on impeccable bluesy keyboard. Other commenters on other sites mention SRV used heavier-than-normal guitar strings, so he was plucking CABLES and not strings! And how he bends so many of the notes in a song, he wears out even those heavy-duty strings. I've read that his hands were extraordinarily strong! Find a vid of "Look at Little Sister" for and emergency change of guitar due to a broken string; his crew is so sharp, not a single note or beat is missed.
I respect other opinions and music is subjective but I stand by that this is the greatest live blues or otherwise guitar performance we have in existence. Oh jeez, I went absurdly long with comment, so if that annoys anyone, I get it, it's kind of absurd, but I love Stevie - he is my guitar player idol I modelled my own journey after, and I love this genre on YT, so I had to just post and let it flow. So, "Texas Flood" El Mocambo, hell of an intro - 2nd song, sorry - but the journey now begins. I'll let other commenters point the way. As for Stevie, he studied so many styles - Texas Blues he grew up in, but Chicago blues, Delta blues, Texas folk blues, the British Blues invasion, HENDRIX, Surf Rock, Jazz Guitar, Southern Rock, Swing, Elvis, Country -all of it, he mastered note for note as a prodigy (that is obvious) and then had his older brother by 4 years Jimmie Vaughan get famous in his teens in the Texas Blues scene, so by 16 Stevie was gigging in Austin sleeping at 5am on Pool Tables...and by the time we see him here, 10 years have passed from those early days and HE IS AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER of a musical mind, not just a guitar wizard - and he has soul and is in tune with 'that other place' where the best artists go to bring back something in real time even they aren't sure of how its being created/controlled, but he was a channel to it and had the skill to allow it to flow out into his guitar, and do it literally rarely missing a fret or note let alone playing super fast, or super crunchy, or light as a feather delicate, and creating his CRUSHING tone on that famous beat up 62 Fender Strat. It is called "#1" maybe the guitar more guitar players on earth would covet the most if their were such a poll, it is the baddest guitar ever, and part of how he got his sound. He used insanely thick strings - .13 gage they're called, an average guitarist plays with .9s, 10s if you want to ramp up your tone - Stevie played electric wires and did bends and vibrato that were inconceivable. This is a crucial element to his NASTY tone, just equally as gangster as any guitarist could dream off, to light as a feather, shaking his guitar for that always present vibrato. But his tone - with few effects, just something called a Tube Screamer and a Wah Pedal, and that blues-perfect sound a Fender Stratocaster provides, that is as impressive as his playing, and along with his unique amalgam of styles re-purposed into a blues guitar gun slinger, his instantly recognizable sound, and his really catchy tunes (like the blues is just a simple basis so it takes some talent to keep the interesting songs coming and SRV managed to do that which is why you are in for an incredible journey as you can marvel at his playing, his band, his voice - but you'll find yourself digging the songs and how much range there is styles there.) But he has a legendary story, and so often those stories end with tragedy, as his did. But maybe even before doing another song, I may be a lone wolf in this being my recommendation for next video, watch "Stevie Ray Vaughan Guitar Lesson" to get to meet him interviewed, get a quick part of his redemption story and why he is an inspiration and so beloved by so many, this humble guy - with some ridiculous playing mixed in! For there to have been a Stevie Ray Vaughan, a truly 1 in a billion tiny chance of random things needed to occur - born in Dallas in blues country, with an older brother who was also a guitar prodigy at an early age, Stevie being born with a savant-level of natural musical aptitude, endless love for listening to and soaking in all music, then playing/practicing all day every day from age 7 to learn those songs note for note, then through his brother's success and the path he saw, a move to Austin at age age 16 when he could already really play, seriously PLAY (Austin particularly via a club called Antone's where Stevie came into his own if you will -Blues Central since the late 70's), where he gained unique opportunities to meet and play with legendary electric blues players like BB King and Buddy Guy - idols of his, and particularly one Titanic Electric blues legend of the 60's, Albert King, who took him on as a God Son; and that brotherly rivalry with Jimmy Vaughan(I get to see him live next Friday in a little club outside Washington DC!), an incredible laser precision surgeon of a player who Stevie would have told you and meant it, was better than he was easily, always up and until the day we lost him. Add this to his special affinity to the other big name you hear as Guitar God #1, Mr. Hendrix, who also shaped him immensely - among many things, just Jimi's willingness to be free and wild, and let those Virtuoso skills go free and unbridled - and how SRV came to be becomes more and more clear. Then bringing back in Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery jazz influences, like we see on a great next video I see some likes for below "Mary Had a Little Lamb" where he quiets down a section, his 2nd solo part into a more jazzy vibe, and songs like "Lenny" and "Riviera Paradise;" or a song like "Dirty Pool" where he strums using tremolo picking (the super fast up and down strumming of all 6 strings or sometimes a solo or couple strings we see sprinkled throughout various parts of the above performance, which he learned from Surf Rock pioneer and great friend and idol, Dick Dale (all the cool music in "Pulp Fiction") - it appears in Mexican jazz/blues too, which is part of the subtle roots of difference in Texas Blues to Delta or Chicago Blues. Long comment alert, apologies - the more you watch the more you love this humble man who only shined to the world for 7 years, but it is so awesome through this corner of the internet - YT reaction videos, my guilty relaxation pleasure - so any time seeing a new passionate individual with a channel delve into the bands and artists I love for the first time, and presents it and does it well as you have, it is super fun. I love it and I want to firstly say a big thank you for taking the time to wite this. I didn't realise there were so many different types of Blues - Literally thought it was just .. The blues ... Ill have to look into this - do some research and see if I can understand the difference between the different styles....Such a talented man to be able to learn all of these styles including the others you've mentioned - yes i totally agree he is a monster!! Yer ive seen other comments about Stevie using super thick strings, and even these he snapped easily which is Crazy! Stevie is the GOAT. regardless of genre, and this is the greatest use of a guitar I have ever heard in my 58 years. This is '83. Strongest recommendation to do Stevie's cover of Hendrix's 'Little Wing' from this same show. It's nearly as good a guitar performance as this but I think a better song.
I didn't come on here to proclaim that Stevie was the greatest guitarist of all time. I will however proclaim that whoever's #2 has got a fair amount of catching up to do.
Speaking of not missing a beat, check out Look At Little Sister from the 1989 Austin City Limits show. Watch for a broken string in the middle of his guitar solo followed by replacing the guitar... WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT.
Stevie was still battling addiction here. An hour before the show, he was in a cocaine induced coma and had to be revived by medical personnel with IV fluids and vitamins. Hence all the extra extra notes and sweat. Tommy Shannon (bass) claims this show was their best performance on tape.
Well he does have a big brother who plays guitar. Jimmy Vaughn, his band The Fabulous Thunderbirds do more 50's style music. There's a video of them playing Pipeline together that you should check out.

This song was written by Larry Davis and Joseph Scott in 1955, Larry Davis recorded it in 1958, Joseph Scott was having relationship problems so that's what came from this song. Stevie Ray heard that Larry Davis never got payed royalties so and alot of people use this song but Stevie Ray being a great man payed Larry Davis every dime out of his own pocket. Stevie Ray played so much he had alot of calluses, when a callus would come off he would put supper glue on it put it on a good piece of skin rip it off and put it back on the spot it came off 😂 😂. I think that Double Trouble doesn't get the recognition they deserve, Stevie Ray started a band called The Triple Threat Reuve with vocalist Lou Ann Barton but she left on November 24,1979 so Stevie Ray took over the vocals. Tommy Shannon basses joined a band called Krackerjack with Stevie Ray when they were teens in school but lost touch until June 23,1981 when Tommy Shannon replaced Jackie Newhouse, drummer Chris Layton joined The Triple Threat Reuve drums replacing Jack Moore and Reese Wynans joined Double Trouble on June 7,1985, In 1980 Stevie Ray changed the name to Double Trouble. Stevie Ray never used a play list he said because he never learned to read music he played from the heart so he didn't know what song he was going to play or how he was going to play it until he got on stage so that right there shows how amazing Double Trouble was keeping up with Stevie Ray and never missing a beat. So many great Blues artists loved Stevie Ray , Eric Clapton said he was at a festival watching Stevie Ray perform, after Stevie Ray was done Eric Clapton said "you expect me to go on after that?" Albert King performed a show called In Session with Stevie Ray, I think is a must watch, Albert King was actually Stevie Ray's godfather. The song " Life Without You" Stevie Ray shows so much of his crazy insane talent. Stevie Ray not only tuned his guitar while playing but he also played behind his head, backwards, one hand, broken string, switch guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, his teeth, elbow, adjust his AMP'S while playing one handed even no hands just by moving the guitar up and down side to side and play behind his back longer than anyone ever could. Don't lie to me or match box Blues are really good, don't lie to me from In Session Albert King and Stevie Ray talk in the beginning of the song and Albert King is giving Stevie Ray some really good advice, you can see so much love and respect between the two. The hole Session is awesome because they talk about how they met and funny stories. You will see Albert King jam but the crazy thing is he's never used a pick. Albert King was performing at a place called Antone's, it was owned by Clifford Antone. Stevie Ray was always a huge fan of Albert King's so Stevie went to Antone's in 1973 and asked Clifford to ask Albert King if he could sit in with him and of course Albert said no. Alot of people say Albert King didn't like anybody but Stevie kept coming back until Albert said bring him up thinking he was going to show Stevie how it's done but was amazed watching Stevie and took Stevie under his wing. Albert King was born Albert Nelson on April 25,1923 he was one of the greatest Blues guitarist of all time, his album Born Under A Bad Sign another great song with Albert and Stevie came out in 1967. Albert was left handed so he always played his guitar upside down 😂 😂 he had 13 siblings that sang in church. When Albert King started performing on the Blues around Texas he told everyone he was B.B. King's half brother and used the same nickname Blues Boy and had a guitar named Lucy. He started using the name Albert King and not Albert Nelson in 1953, B. B. King said he was upset about it but after he met Albert King Albert King was right they were brothers in Blues. I should tell you about Albert King first guitar, it's funny so Albert King's father left the family when Albert was only 5 years old but his dad played guitar so Albert took a cigar box, a piece of bush and a strand of Broom wire and made his guitar, he eventually bought a real guitar for $1.25 (the good old days) so being left handed he turned it upside down and played that way. I'm sorry I went way to long again, I try not to. I love your reactions there great. I've been a huge fan of Stevie Ray's for over 40 yrs and had to know everything about him but only in interviews from the artist themselves not rumors or hearsay. I know from birth right up to after his death. Alot of thing were sad in his life and more but I think I would have cramped fingers and 2 days to commit all so I'll tell you after the videos you play.

In 1964 when Stevie was 10 he had his first gig at a roller rink with a band he joined called The Chantones so Jimmie gave Stevie his first electric guitar. Stevie left the band and joined a band called Krackerjack along with Double Troubles basses Tommy Shannon, Stevie had a hard time breaking into the music industry. In 1977 Stevie put a band together called The Triple Threat Reuve and has Lou Ann Barton on vocals but when Lou Ann left on November 24,1979 Stevie took over on vocals and in 1980 Stevie changed the name to Double Trouble. Chris Layton joined The Triple Threat Reuve on September 10,1978, Tommy Shannon basses joined Double Trouble on June 23,1981 ,later Reese Wynans joined Double Trouble on June 7,1985. Stevie's career only span 7yrs but he accomplished so much in only 7yrs starting with the release of his first album Texas Flood on June 13,1983. Stevie was the first musician to be inducted into The Austin Music Hall Of Fame in 1982, in 2000 he was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame and in 2015 inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Stevie won 6 Grammys, 5 W.C.Handy National Blues Awards and 10 Austin Music Awards and many more but even with all of that Stevie never got to enjoy a #1 hit but after his death Crossfire hit #1. On August 26,1990 Stevie went to East Troy Wisconsin to open 2 shows for Eric Clapton along with Robert Clay, Buddy Guy and his brother Jimmie Vaughan. Jimmie said Stevie came down from his hotel room and told Jimmie and the band he had a weird dream that he died and he was looking down at all these people crying but even though he was dead he felt at peace. On August 27,1990 after Eric Clapton finish his show Stevie, Buddy Guy, Robert Clay and Jimmie Vaughan went on stage and the last song Stevie would ever play was Sweet Home Chicago by Robert Johnson. On August 27,1990 Stevie boarded a helicopter that crashed into the side of a mountain right after takeoff and everyone on board were killed instantly, the pilot had just failed his test on using the gages for that helicopter, he never flew at night and he never flew that helicopter. The great guitarist of the age were in awe of Stevie. Eric Clapton said that every other player in the world sort of "takes a break" during improvised solos but not Stevie. He just continues to flow without hesitation. He played with all of the great black bluesmen that were still living and they all loved him as a person and a player.

In this performance, he was in the midst of his drug and alcohol addiction, and there is a noticeable physical difference in his appearance when compared to your first SRV vid (Voodoo Child). In the Voodoo Child vid he is clean and sober and he looks healthy and happy. In fact, his music did a drastic change when he became sober. His 'In Step' album is about overcoming addiction and making amends (Tightrope) to those he hurt along the way. He also began to dabble is jazz (Riviera Paradise) and was leaning more towards Rock (Crossfire, The House is Rockin), yet still remaining true to his Blues roots (Leave My Girl alone).
As stated previously, he was a kind and humble soul and is sorely missed by his fanbase.

So much depends where you grew up. I was raised in the south US with Prince. My husband lived closer to, say, Memphis, so grew up listening to more blues style music, including SRV. So far, I've only witnessed 3 people who - how do I put this? - was born with a guitar in their hands? Like the instrument was a part of their bodies - Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and SRV. This video is SICK! Thanks for watching it. Music is one way hubby & I connected: I introduced him to Prince, and he introduced me to SRV. We were each enthralled with what the other's "favorite' could do. We are now in our 50s, and both artists have sadly passed away. But we have only 2 things up in our home office: a poster of Prince in "Under The Cherry Moon," and a large sketch of SRV. They must be rocking away in Heaven!

Sadly, I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley Wisconsin August 26th 1990. The fog was so bad that we stopped and got a hotel room on the way home. The lineup was SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Stevie's brother Jimmie and Buddy Guy. RIP SRV!

Lucky to have seen him 3 times in concert. First time he was warming up for BOSTON. Had no idea who he was, but it was one of those "OMFG, who is this guy?" moments. Third time was with his brother Jimmie's band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds , warming up for him. In between sets, Jimmie sits down with a double neck guitar, Stevie stands behind him , and they start playing it together.
now i bet that was an experience ... not only did you hear him first hand ...but to hear and see him before he came huge! Super Jealous haha!!

Another great SRV video is Look At Little Sister, with Jeff Healey. Jeff will blow you away and you can see Stevie smile when Jeff takes the lead. They admired one another and sadly, both are gone now. FYI - Jeff was blind.

Chris Layton on drums plus Tommy Shannon (ex-Johnny Winter's bands) = "Double Trouble." They later (1985) added Reese Wynans on impeccable bluesy keyboard. Other commenters on other sites mention SRV used heavier-than-normal guitar strings, so he was plucking CABLES and not strings! And how he bends so many of the notes in a song, he wears out even those heavy-duty strings. I've read that his hands were extraordinarily strong! Find a vid of "Look at Little Sister" for and emergency change of guitar due to a broken string; his crew is so sharp, not a single note or beat is missed.

I respect other opinions and music is subjective but I stand by that this is the greatest live blues or otherwise guitar performance we have in existence. Oh jeez, I went absurdly long with comment, so if that annoys anyone, I get it, it's kind of absurd, but I love Stevie - he is my guitar player idol I modelled my own journey after, and I love this genre on YT, so I had to just post and let it flow. So, "Texas Flood" El Mocambo, hell of an intro - 2nd song, sorry - but the journey now begins. I'll let other commenters point the way. As for Stevie, he studied so many styles - Texas Blues he grew up in, but Chicago blues, Delta blues, Texas folk blues, the British Blues invasion, HENDRIX, Surf Rock, Jazz Guitar, Southern Rock, Swing, Elvis, Country -all of it, he mastered note for note as a prodigy (that is obvious) and then had his older brother by 4 years Jimmie Vaughan get famous in his teens in the Texas Blues scene, so by 16 Stevie was gigging in Austin sleeping at 5am on Pool Tables...and by the time we see him here, 10 years have passed from those early days and HE IS AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER of a musical mind, not just a guitar wizard - and he has soul and is in tune with 'that other place' where the best artists go to bring back something in real time even they aren't sure of how its being created/controlled, but he was a channel to it and had the skill to allow it to flow out into his guitar, and do it literally rarely missing a fret or note let alone playing super fast, or super crunchy, or light as a feather delicate, and creating his CRUSHING tone on that famous beat up 62 Fender Strat. It is called "#1" maybe the guitar more guitar players on earth would covet the most if their were such a poll, it is the baddest guitar ever, and part of how he got his sound. He used insanely thick strings - .13 gage they're called, an average guitarist plays with .9s, 10s if you want to ramp up your tone - Stevie played electric wires and did bends and vibrato that were inconceivable. This is a crucial element to his NASTY tone, just equally as gangster as any guitarist could dream off, to light as a feather, shaking his guitar for that always present vibrato. But his tone - with few effects, just something called a Tube Screamer and a Wah Pedal, and that blues-perfect sound a Fender Stratocaster provides, that is as impressive as his playing, and along with his unique amalgam of styles re-purposed into a blues guitar gun slinger, his instantly recognizable sound, and his really catchy tunes (like the blues is just a simple basis so it takes some talent to keep the interesting songs coming and SRV managed to do that which is why you are in for an incredible journey as you can marvel at his playing, his band, his voice - but you'll find yourself digging the songs and how much range there is styles there.) But he has a legendary story, and so often those stories end with tragedy, as his did. But maybe even before doing another song, I may be a lone wolf in this being my recommendation for next video, watch "Stevie Ray Vaughan Guitar Lesson" to get to meet him interviewed, get a quick part of his redemption story and why he is an inspiration and so beloved by so many, this humble guy - with some ridiculous playing mixed in! For there to have been a Stevie Ray Vaughan, a truly 1 in a billion tiny chance of random things needed to occur - born in Dallas in blues country, with an older brother who was also a guitar prodigy at an early age, Stevie being born with a savant-level of natural musical aptitude, endless love for listening to and soaking in all music, then playing/practicing all day every day from age 7 to learn those songs note for note, then through his brother's success and the path he saw, a move to Austin at age age 16 when he could already really play, seriously PLAY (Austin particularly via a club called Antone's where Stevie came into his own if you will -Blues Central since the late 70's), where he gained unique opportunities to meet and play with legendary electric blues players like BB King and Buddy Guy - idols of his, and particularly one Titanic Electric blues legend of the 60's, Albert King, who took him on as a God Son; and that brotherly rivalry with Jimmy Vaughan(I get to see him live next Friday in a little club outside Washington DC!), an incredible laser precision surgeon of a player who Stevie would have told you and meant it, was better than he was easily, always up and until the day we lost him. Add this to his special affinity to the other big name you hear as Guitar God #1, Mr. Hendrix, who also shaped him immensely - among many things, just Jimi's willingness to be free and wild, and let those Virtuoso skills go free and unbridled - and how SRV came to be becomes more and more clear. Then bringing back in Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery jazz influences, like we see on a great next video I see some likes for below "Mary Had a Little Lamb" where he quiets down a section, his 2nd solo part into a more jazzy vibe, and songs like "Lenny" and "Riviera Paradise;" or a song like "Dirty Pool" where he strums using tremolo picking (the super fast up and down strumming of all 6 strings or sometimes a solo or couple strings we see sprinkled throughout various parts of the above performance, which he learned from Surf Rock pioneer and great friend and idol, Dick Dale (all the cool music in "Pulp Fiction") - it appears in Mexican jazz/blues too, which is part of the subtle roots of difference in Texas Blues to Delta or Chicago Blues. Long comment alert, apologies - the more you watch the more you love this humble man who only shined to the world for 7 years, but it is so awesome through this corner of the internet - YT reaction videos, my guilty relaxation pleasure - so any time seeing a new passionate individual with a channel delve into the bands and artists I love for the first time, and presents it and does it well as you have, it is super fun. Thanks for the time and here's to many more chills via SRV, and the potential for many more bands and artists you don't even know are coming your way yet, that will enhance your love of music and your life so beautifully! I didn't realise there were so many different types of Blues - Literally thought it was just .. The blues ... Ill have to look into this - do some research and see if I can understand the difference between the different styles....Such a talented man to be able to learn all of these styles including the others you've mentioned - yes i totally agree he is a monster!!

Stevie is the GOAT. regardless of genre, and this is the greatest use of a guitar I have ever heard in my 58 years.
This is '83. Strongest recommendation to do Stevie's cover of Hendrix's 'Little Wing' from this same show. It's nearly as good a guitar performance as this but I think a better song.

Stevie was still battling addiction here. An hour before the show, he was in a cocaine induced coma and had to be revived by medical personnel with IV fluids and vitamins. Hence all the extra extra notes and sweat. Tommy Shannon (bass) claims this show was their best performance on tape.

This song was written by Larry Davis and Joseph Scott in 1955, Larry Davis recorded it in 1958, Joseph Scott was having relationship problems so that's what came from this song. Stevie Ray heard that Larry Davis never got payed royalties so and alot of people use this song but Stevie Ray being a great man payed Larry Davis every dime out of his own pocket. Stevie Ray played so much he had alot of calluses, when a callus would come off he would put supper glue on it put it on a good piece of skin rip it off and put it back on the spot it came off 😂 😂. I think that Double Trouble doesn't get the recognition they deserve, Stevie Ray started a band called The Triple Threat Reuve with vocalist Lou Ann Barton but she left on November 24,1979 so Stevie Ray took over the vocals. Tommy Shannon basses joined a band called Krackerjack with Stevie Ray when they were teens in school but lost touch until June 23,1981 when Tommy Shannon replaced Jackie Newhouse, drummer Chris Layton joined The Triple Threat Reuve drums replacing Jack Moore and Reese Wynans joined Double Trouble on June 7,1985, In 1980 Stevie Ray changed the name to Double Trouble. Stevie Ray never used a play list he said because he never learned to read music he played from the heart so he didn't know what song he was going to play or how he was going to play it until he got on stage so that right there shows how amazing Double Trouble was keeping up with Stevie Ray and never missing a beat. So many great Blues artists loved Stevie Ray , Eric Clapton said he was at a festival watching Stevie Ray perform, after Stevie Ray was done Eric Clapton said "you expect me to go on after that?" Albert King performed a show called In Session with Stevie Ray, I think is a must watch, Albert King was actually Stevie Ray's godfather. The song " Life Without You" Stevie Ray shows so much of his crazy insane talent. Stevie Ray not only tuned his guitar while playing but he also played behind his head, backwards, one hand, broken string, switch guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, his teeth, elbow, adjust his AMP'S while playing one handed even no hands just by moving the guitar up and down side to side and play behind his back longer than anyone ever could. Don't lie to me or match box Blues are really good, don't lie to me from In Session Albert King and Stevie Ray talk in the beginning of the song and Albert King is giving Stevie Ray some really good advice, you can see so much love and respect between the two. The hole Session is awesome because they talk about how they met and funny stories. You will see Albert King jam but the crazy thing is he's never used a pick. Albert King was performing at a place called Antone's, it was owned by Clifford Antone. Stevie Ray was always a huge fan of Albert King's so Stevie went to Antone's in 1973 and asked Clifford to ask Albert King if he could sit in with him and of course Albert said no. Alot of people say Albert King didn't like anybody but Stevie kept coming back until Albert said bring him up thinking he was going to show Stevie how it's done but was amazed watching Stevie and took Stevie under his wing. Albert King was born Albert Nelson on April 25,1923 he was one of the greatest Blues guitarist of all time, his album Born Under A Bad Sign another great song with Albert and Stevie came out in 1967. Albert was left handed so he always played his guitar upside down 😂 😂 he had 13 siblings that sang in church. When Albert King started performing on the Blues around Texas he told everyone he was B.B. King's half brother and used the same nickname Blues Boy and had a guitar named Lucy. He started using the name Albert King and not Albert Nelson in 1953, B. B. King said he was upset about it but after he met Albert King Albert King was right they were brothers in Blues. I should tell you about Albert King first guitar, it's funny so Albert King's father left the family when Albert was only 5 years old but his dad played guitar so Albert took a cigar box, a piece of bush and a strand of Broom wire and made his guitar, he eventually bought a real guitar for $1.25 (the good old days) so being left handed he turned it upside down and played that way. I'm sorry I went way to long again, I try not to. I love your reactions there great. I've been a huge fan of Stevie Ray's for over 40 yrs and had to know everything about him but only in interviews from the artist themselves not rumors or hearsay. I know from birth right up to after his death. Alot of thing were sad in his life and more but I think I would have cramped fingers and 2 days to commit all so I'll tell you after the videos you play.

This song Texas Flood was written by Larry Davis and Joseph Scott in 1955, Larry Davis recorded and released it in 1958, when Stevie found out Larry Davis never got payed any royalties enen though so many people have used the song Stevie payed Larry Davis his royalties out of his own pocket, he was an amazing person with a huge heart. Stevie was born in Dallas Texas on October 3,1954 and has a brother named Jimmie Vaughan who is 3 yrs older then Stevie and is a great guitarist In his own right, he had a band called The Fabulous Thunderbirds but never achieved the success Stevie did. Jimmie was the first to get an electric guitar and Stevie loved it, he would play it whenever Jimmie left the house. Stevie got his first guitar when he was 7 years old for this birthday with cowboys and Indians on it but even though it was a toy guitar Stevie taught himself how to play Wine Wine Wine by Stick McGhee and Thunderbird by The Night Caps AMAZING on a toy. When Jimmie brought a Muddy Watters record Stevie said when he heard it he was stuck on the Blues, that what he played the most through out his career. In 1964 when Stevie was 10 he had his first gig at a roller rink with a band he joined called The Chantones so Jimmie gave Stevie his first electric guitar. Stevie left the band and joined a band called Krackerjack along with Double Troubles basses Tommy Shannon, Stevie had a hard time breaking into the music industry. In 1977 Stevie put a band together called The Triple Threat Reuve and has Lou Ann Barton on vocals but when Lou Ann left on November 24,1979 Stevie took over on vocals and in 1980 Stevie changed the name to Double Trouble. Chris Layton joined The Triple Threat Reuve on September 10,1978, Tommy Shannon basses joined Double Trouble on June 23,1981 ,later Reese Wynans joined Double Trouble on June 7,1985. Stevie's career only span 7yrs but he accomplished so much in only 7yrs starting with the release of his first album Texas Flood on June 13,1983. On November 18,1984 Stevie won a W.C.Handy National Blues Award, Entertainer Of The Year and Instermental Of The Year Stevie was the first white musician to win either. On December 13 1983 Stevie's Austin City Limits video was voted Guitar Player Magazine's Best New Talent, Best Electric Blues Guitar Player and Best Guitar Album with Texas Flood, Stevie and Jeff Beck are the only 2 Triple award guitarist ever. Stevie was the first musician to be inducted into The Austin Music Hall Of Fame in 1982, in 2000 he was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame and in 2015 inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Stevie won 6 Grammys, 5 W.C.Handy National Blues Awards and 10 Austin Music Awards and many more but even with all of that Stevie never got to enjoy a #1 hit but after his death Crossfire hit #1. On August 26,1990 Stevie went to East Troy Wisconsin to open 2 shows for Eric Clapton along with Robert Clay, Buddy Guy and his brother Jimmie Vaughan. Jimmie said Stevie came down from his hotel room and told Jimmie and the band he had a weird dream that he died and he was looking down at all these people crying but even though he was dead he felt at peace. On August 27,1990 after Eric Clapton finish his show Stevie, Buddy Guy, Robert Clay and Jimmie Vaughan went on stage and the last song Stevie would ever play was Sweet Home Chicago by Robert Johnson. On August 27,1990 Stevie boarded a helicopter that crashed into the side of a mountain right after takeoff and everyone on board were killed instantly, the pilot had just failed his test on using the gages for that helicopter, he never flew at night and he never flew that helicopter.
