Great video! With the old M81 BDU's I'd keep a couple MRE main courses in the lower front BDU pockets. 11B from the 80's and 90's, sometimes in the field I might be away from my rucksack for a good amount of time, maybe on a shitty detail somewhere. I made it a habit after one occasion when we landed on DZ and graders told us we were compromised and to drop our rucks, we had to E&E from Friday afternoon to mid Sunday. This was when everyone wore LC1 web gear, buttpack with poncho, socks, etc. and extra canteens etc. so it wasn't as big of a crisis as it would be today with a chest rig and had to do something like that. Nice to see the LBE's making a comeback, I think they're ideal when you pair one with a small micro chest rig. I'm using a surplus UK load bearing gear LBE with a Helikon Tex range rig. UK para smock worn under all that with best pockets ever.
In one of the units I was in, we had some elastic and velcro loops sewn into those sleeve pockets to accommodate the chem lights...it worked well with the IR ones and allowed us to be tracked during Obj Assaults to guide the "Frontline trace" for our support by fire elements, or overhead C&C. You can still attach dummy cords to the loops, bit they will keep the chem lights "out of the way" until they are needed. Just an idea.
Nice one! Totally digging the cord loops in the pockets. I did some vids on RAID modding a few years ago. I wish I would have thought about adding them. Hmmm.....might have to make some "Update" vids. Thanks for the great ideas!
I’m a believer in large pockets, I wear my jungle jacket and utilize those pockets. When it’s to hot I’m wearing my BDU pants , those pockets really carry a lot. I carry ferro rod, Ranger lighter, flashlight, signal mirror, bandanna, monocular, SAN, those small chem lights are a good idea, really good video
awesome video yes great ideas about pockets ... I love the old style mind thought ( probably because i am older also)... but so true ... steps or layers for survival
Sew a handcuff key to the inside side hem of your BDU shirt, it can be accessed if you are cuffed from the front or back. Place it in an area that normally has bulk, belt level, pant seam level etc. Concerned about rust? HardCase Survival sells plastic coin shape keys that have two holes for stitching. Got patch areas on your hat and/or jacket? Cut a slice in the velcro on the patch side to stash thin gear in. You may also make a flat thin cloth bag about 4"x6" and sew a loop that matches your pants. Put the belt through the loops then tuck the bag inside your pants. As long as it is not stuffed too full or you belt isn't too tight, you'll be able to take the bag out and have it dangle from your belt without losing it when you need the contents. Don't forget to check the inside of your jackets for hems and extra material (zipper flaps, pocket backs, etc.) that you may be able to stash gear with minimal matched thread sewing.
I was really hoping to see more pants pocket/ belt carry items. People stop and rest, shed their coats, their packs, their vests, etc. If I heard right, I believe it was said about being hot with the BDU blouse. Pocket/ belt carry items are going to be on your person unless for whatever odd reason one strips off their pants, and I've never seen anybody do that in the field. It's important to be able to jump up and flee and not spend valuable time gathering your goods. I remember reading about men in the field during the colonial American times that would tie their moccasins and other loose things to themselves as they slept so if they had to jump up and haul out immediately that they wouldn't be leaving their gear behind. Thanks for the video
@@themodernminuteman2557 Yeah its a decent update to the old bdu top, Im surprised that Ive only recently heard of this Ive got several combat shirts but may have to pickup a few bdu tops and raid mod them Might leave the chest pockets off to be more comfortable under a PC

Nice video!😊
Always good to See what other guys carry.
Not overloaded, i Like it a lot.
Best regards from the Fatherland,
GR 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Well done.
When I was with recon in Vicenza (many moons ago), we always carried a lenseatic compass around our neck with 550 cord.
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback! Back in my mountaineering days we did the same thing.
I would still keep the lower pockets too for some more things, like a poncho or hat and gloves, and a flask ;) good stuff!!!
Morning jay ..dummie chord in the pocket sounds like a brilliant idea 👍🇬🇧
Agreed on the dummy cord loops. One of the features I love about the Platatac Kurtz shirts.

Thanks. I had seen someone else do it (can't remember where) but it really makes sense.

Oh my, another upside down flag. Our country is indeed in distress.
Brother, you are an inspiration!
Thanks! You guys all motivate me!
I can remember the Sgt forever telling us to carry a knife, a snack, and a way to start a fire.
Those birds are insanely active. They sound pissed that you’re out there, brother! 😂😂😂

Worthy. Thanks Jay.
Good stuff, Jay
Fantastic as always! I always look forward to your videos!

Good evening all
TIGERSTRIPE CAMO IS KING
You should add 4 or so imodium ad tablets to your FAK. BTDT would have given
ten dollars each at the time
of my "education" about that
Good video brother
Thanks bud! I need to do more like that
@@themodernminuteman2557 It was good stuff.
Do you think you could made a video on how to walk us through doing a RAID mod of our own? Thanks!
Absolutely... next one I do ill make a video on it
BOOOOOYAH!!
Is that an old Chapstick container to carry tinder? If so, great idea!
It's a plastic tube that some kind of candy came it. Got a bunch of them in one of the BCUSA Christmas exchanges.
