    You are the layering Queen! Your color choices for the different layers tie together so effortlessly. Then you add more than one dry embossed pattern and it all comes together like a symphony! I truly enjoyed seeing your finished products because, honestly. I thought what was being demonstrated was a big mess. instead it was harmonic in the end. Bravo, you!🐧💙

    I am rather new to scrapbooking and card making; I have been keeping my scraps and all for some reason - well, I don't like to waste actually! I was not sure what to make of them.
    It looked a bit like you were mucking about in the beginning, but in the end, wow!, the way you assembled your embellished and upgraded leftovers, the way you put everything together made sense.

    I loved watching you play, and your continual enthusiasm for the results you were getting! A great video and great fun. I’m a great recycler of anything and everything and hate to throw stuff away. If you use your die cut remains as stencils with paint or texture paste, eventually a plastic layer will build up which strengthens the paper and makes them into much more durable and useful stencils. Also, once the paint has built up sufficiently, they make fabulous collage pieces for layering (much as you’ve used them).

    I use a dry clean eraser instead of a brayer or my hands. That way I do no worry for my brayer if it has paint or my hands not applying even pressure. If you have one of those stamp block that are big enough and you don't use it anymore you may take the stamp off and put a bit of fun foam and it works just the same. Stencil uses. Genius, thanks!!!!!

    Wow! This is one of the most amazing paper card videos that I have ever seen!! Thank you for these great, wonderful ideas. Truthfully, I had a hard time picturing how to use your painted paper backgrounds, but when I saw your finished cards, I was in awe! I love your layering, and use of colors and textures. I am curious as to how the surface of the Gelle plate is different from a hard surface when using paint and a brayer? Why does the surface need to be soft to create these amazing backgrounds? How does it do it?

    • @SandpaperRoad
      @SandpaperRoad  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pamela B thank you for your nice comments! And about the soft surface of the gel plate for impressions (vs. a hard surface)... truly I have no idea why it makes such a big difference. I actually thought the same thing myself a while back. I thought, “well, why couldn’t I just do this whole thing on a craft mat instead of a special gel surface?” And I tried it, and it just wasn’t the same. I wish I had a better answer. I wonder if it has to do with the type of porous surface rather than the type of impressions. Because when I tried it on a craft mat, everything dried so fast (even with an acrylic bending gel). So maybe the porosity has something to do with it? So fun to play with, regardless. Thanks again for the comments, and if I learn more, I’ll post another reply 😀

    Thanks for sharing this awesome video, i'm wondering just exactly how thick are your stencil papers you are using here, is it like card stock or a thin plastic sheeting?

    • @SandpaperRoad
      @SandpaperRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The stencil papers are just regular #80 - #110 cardstock, just whatever I used on my scrapbook layout or card. I do have to be careful when using a die-cut scrap as a stencil... I can't just go over it the same way as I would my acrylic or plastic stencils, but it's still a nice way I get more use out of my scraps. Thanks for the comment!

    Your cards are gorgeous! I love the altered art look of the designs. Your Gelli Plate tut is one of the more interesting that I've seen. How long has your large plate lasted? Have you been able to smooth out any nicks in it? Have you ever made your own plate?

    • @SandpaperRoad

      Thank you for your kind words! My large Gelli Arts gel plate is still in great shape after 4 years (I got it from my family as a Christmas gift!). As far as the nicks, it really doesn't bother me a whole lot. It actually adds a little bit of interest in my designs. And as far as making my own plate... I have not tried doing that, but I have seen videos about it. Thanks again for the feedback! :)

      Hi, Janine. Here is the link to my basic cardmaking (very basic) measurements: Link to "Cardmaking Basics" Video by Sandpaper Road: th-cam.com/video/AGmDOfo5rOA/w-d-xo.html .
      As for the actual measurements for each layer of the cards I made in the video, I'm sorry, but I don't know the measurements exactly. I was making these cards "on the fly" in the video and not paying much attention to the measurements. This was one of the first videos I ever made, and I have learned a lot since then... especially that it's important to make note of measurements as I go and link to them later. So, my apologies if this isn't what you were looking for. But check out the Sandpaper Road blog for some more recent (and more organized) cardmaking tips and tricks.
