Had my first gastric emptying study yesterday! I remember being super nervous and trembling (I have severe anxiety). I turned to my mom and said “If Jaquie could do this, I can too!” I completed it and handled it much better than I could have imagined. I watched your Vlogs to keep me busy and I want to thank you for calming my nerves!

I admire your spirit and am impressed at how upbeat you are all the time especially with everything going on in your life. I'm sure it isn't always easy. You are fortunate to have such a wonderful family and of course Harlow 😊 Thank you for sharing your journey. I, for one, greatly appreciate it and am learning a lot.
I, too, have hyper mobility in my low back - so I can relate to some of what you are going through. It is no fun and is definitely painful. I suffer from chronic pain
(degenerative disc disease with several bad disks in both neck and back with arm and leg pain plus numbness and tingling) and to top it off, I was recently diagnosed with cancer. I am tired all the time and deal with nausea almost daily. That all being said, if I didn't have my faith, I know I wouldn't make it. My personal relationship with Jesus Christ is what sustains me.
Recently I made the switch to dehydrated dog food until I can get converted to a raw food diet for my dogs. Your videos on feeding raw were very helpful and gave me the motivation to start to make the switch. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family 🦃

Have you ever seen a neurosurgeon that specializes in EDS? I have a lot of experience with the neuro/neck/instability side of EDS. Just for their opinion on things. When those nerves are being compressed the nerve damage can be pretty devastating when not addressed. Feel free to message me if you have questions 💜

I'd like to say I just recently started watching you and also went and watched your video on your illnesses, I have issues myself, including a seizure disorder I've had since I was in first grade and pain from hip, knee, and back surgery, along with a couple of other minor problems. When I see what you've been through and what you go through daily it makes my problems seem like nothing at all, I don't need a service dog or anything but I use a cane on occasion when I need it but I do know a little of what it's like to always been in pain whether it's major or minor. Your bravery is inspiring to me, and I'm glad that you push through everything as best you can and still try to hold your head up high :D

Jaquie, have you had a stand up/upright MRI before? It's one of the best ways, according to my Dr, to evaluate cervical issues like compression, instability, etc. It's especially important in EDSers. My real problems weren't seen on regular MRI, only on the upright. Just wanted to put it out there since you're having similar problems to my own. As always, thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Oh, btw...I love my shirt! It's so soft and my tactile sensitivities thank you for that!🤗

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Judd, your mom, and Harlow! Hope you had a great day!! I'm so glad your surgery went well; you sound better today. I had a neurostimulator implanted on Monday for a week-long trial. So far my pain level has greatly improved. Was able to play catch with the dogs (used my gripper to pick up the balls) and take them for a walk without my cane today. Plan on having the neurostimulator permanently implanted so I can decrease my morphine, methadone, gabapentin, and tramadol intake. Ended up cooking beef ribs because of the wires coming out of my back. Not supposed to bend, twist, or lift anything. Will have the wires removed on Tuesday so will give my back a few days to heal then cook the 15 lb turkey. Looking forward to it. Hope your toe and cold continue to get better! Have a great weekend!

What you are getting anesthesia for has a lot to do with if you can be "sick". If you have the flu but need stitches in your hand you get local anesthesia. You've got the flu and need general for something that can be put off, you wait because the risks for pneumonia is higher. Anesthesia is a very broad field with local, , disassociative, twilight, and general types. We all are at least somewhat familiar with local (they numb up a part) and general (that breathing tube major surgery stuff), but the two middle types are in between these two extremes. Disassociative is knocking you to sleep with something fast acting but doesn't mess with your ability to breathe. You're just not there to experience stuff. Twighlight sedation doesn't knock you out but makes it so you just don't care and don't really remember.
Also, there are many combinations, that react in many different ways. Ketamine and nitrous are two examples of the middle ones.
Local = let me borrow that part while I work on it.
Ketamine = "have a nap dear and we'll see you in a bit"
Nitrous = "here dear have some of this and talk to me, don't mind what's happening over there".
General = "Right, bye now as we go romping through you guts. You can come back once we've put things back together".
Seriously oversimplifying things. Additionally, we all respond to different variations of these methods and the stuff used. One general cocktail, I come out suddenly combative and vomiting... Not good. Another, I'm exceedingly sluggish and stay under way to long for people's comfort. A third, I'm proposing marriage and want to know if clowns are coming for my party in the same breathe.
We've come a long way from hit you on the head anesthesia, get you passed out drunk anesthesia, or just hold you down until you pass out on your own anesthesia.
From my experience as a patient and health care worker, healthcare is a privilege not a right in the US. Money drives access. One of my closest friends was diagnosed with "chronic fatigue syndrome" because he didn't have insurance or the money for tests that would have shown it to he congestive heart failure, for more than 25 years. It was only caught after a stroke a few years back (which they are still paying the bills). He had a heart attack 3 days ago and choose palliative care as he still didn't have adequate health coverage and didn't want to saddle his lioved ones with the bill. He passed 6 hours later.

    • @ChronicallyJaquie
      @ChronicallyJaquie  6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

I told them I was sick when I got there. They listened to my lungs and evaluated me, but since I only had a dry cough and a little congestion it was fine. I think it was more important to take care of the infection.

Saw my doctor Tuesday and I’m getting a new med for anxiety. Also looks like the low fodmap diet is increasing my inflammation so that’s good. I think I need to keep reevaluating what I’m doing and why as well and cut out activities that stress me out. I play and mmo and have gotten into raiding and at the higher end a lot of players are really not nice and toxic(ie we one shot a boss and no one died but they still make fun of mistakes and call names). I left the raid when it happened last night instead of my usual mute and cry and it honestly felt good. I enjoy playing games but I don’t enjoy that environment. And with my anxiety I’ve often felt obligated to stay and keep going even when someone is making me feel terrible. Also since I like playing I’ve felt like there is no other choice but to put up with it. Honestly as much as I enjoy playing I think I was happier leaving and watching TH-cam. It was difficult to say no to rejoining the group and staying in that situation but I feel like I did the right thing.

I hope you and your mom (and all the waiting room patrons of Tampa) feel better soon!! Did you get new glasses? Either way I think they look great.

the boot is to keep you from hitting your foot on things on accident which could break the stitches loose and cause bleeding and such.

You mentioned that the nerve conduction studies were great. I wonder if you can explain a bit about that process. Did you find in the end after, that it was beneficial long term? Like, have they given you tools based off the studies that improve the damage and has the damage improved? I ask cause I have nerve damage in my legs/feet after a back injury and I'm not sure if getting the conduction studies will be beneficial enough to be worth it.

I know I'm a bit late here, Jaquie, but have you heard of Guoer masks? I got one off of Amazon and I love it! They come in many different patterns and have carbon filter inserts (which I don't usually use because the mask works fine for me without them).

Holy moly you are so adorable when you are coming out of anesthesia! Your new bed is higher than your older bed, yes? Do you think Harlow might be hurting herself by jumping down off a higher platform than before? I don't know, just wondering out loud!

Chronically Jaquie has your doctor said anything about using an antiseptic on your foot? Original listerine doesn't dry like alcohol does or eat away good and bad skin like peroxide does. It was recommended for my wifes C-section incision and to me for a few different incisions/lacerations.
