Love the show of your favourite makes of 2024. It's good to look back and remember the lovely patterns and yarn used. I need to use my books and stored patterns more. It's all too easy to be led by what you see online when you possibly have something just as good or better in your 'stash'.

Thank you! Yes that's it, hope you have fun looking through your books and stash! 😁💕

Lovely to look back at all your favourite makes from 2024 and hear your thoughts going into 2025. I have done a list of things that I'd like to achieve and one is 'try a new technique', whilst others are definite projects. Initially I struggled to think of 6 things to aim for, but actually have ended up with a list of 10!
Hope that at least one of your episodes will feature you rolling your dice xx

What a great episode. Thank you.
I loved the sweaters you were wearing. The Whitmoor has been on my list for a awhile. You have inspired me to use my stash and get it made.
Kirsty, if I would have seen your Penguono when that pattern first came out, I would have made one. It's the best one I've ever seen. Your Soft Shoulder Wrap goes perfect with the sweater you are wearing, the colos are so pretty.
I'm so happy to see Jugen, he just makes me smile. Your Black and White Neon socks are so fun!!
The Shawlography is a masterpiece. You have a great eye for putting colors together.
Tracy, your Painting Honeycombs shawl is also a work of art. I love, love, love the Litmus Cowl, and the Nightshift.
Thank you for all the great ideas for working through all my wips.
Take care, I'll look forward to seeing you both next time

After all of the ways you are both going to organize, plan, and commit to using stash, not buy yarn, use the books and patterns you have, I love how you ended the podcast with a reminder that it is a hobby that you love. I think the dice method is definitley worth a try. Have fun with it all...

Hi Kirsty and Tracey- thanks so very much for a really enjoyable visit! I loved seeing your favourites and your plans- I absolutely love your Pinguano Kirsty - beautiful colours ❤ It must be the year for knitting from stash- I was very strong and didn’t buy any advents last year- instead I made up my Stash Advent; lovely yarn I’d purchased ( much of it single skeins or small amounts) and matched it up with patterns so now I have 24 projects ready to go 😊 My next project is a cardigan for me - “Fly away Home” by Bronagh Miskelly- from one of my many Knitter magazines- that’s another goal of mine that’s the same as yours- to use my books and magazines more! Enjoy your knitting until next time 😊

Thank you again for your lovely podcast! Next time could you tell us a bit about yourselves? Do you work outside the home? How did you meet? Etc. Etc. Of course, only if you want to. I gathered up all of my wooly wool stash and have hooked on a simple blanket, using chain one, SC one, chain one, SC, etc. It already looks stunning. I also have plans to hook my acrylic yarn into a large laundry basket. Plus, continue to work on blankets for my nieces and nephews, and finally up the game to crochet a more complicated fitted crochet sweater than the one I just finished. Love you guys! Crocheting in Canada...❤

Hi, Kirsty, I love the categories of your types of knitting, to look at before you start knitting. I tend to do that, except for your final category of something that you can actually wear frequently, with most of your wardrobe. I actually tie that in with each of the other categories, because, before, when I had it as a seperate category, I got bored with it and it would sit by the wayside and not get worked on because it wasn't as exciting or fun as some of the other categories, or as relaxing as the others. Also the other categories didn't get used or worn, because they didn't go with my wardrobe or what I felt comfortable wearing, or found useful. Now if I, for example want a learning project, an exciting one, or maybe a mindless one, I also choose that category in a pattern, yarn type, and colour, that I think I will frequently wear, that will go well in my wardrobe or that I will use a lot. The exceptions are just if something would give me so much pleasure either making it, or just looking at it afterwards, that it doesn't really matter to me if I don't wear or use it a lot.
Hi Tracy, I don't think it will be boring watching your progress on the same projects for a month because we will see a good chunk of progress and likely some finished objects. I laughed when you said you didn't know how well it would work because you had the mindset of "you can't tell me what to do" even if it was you telling yourself to do it. I'm exactly the same way.

    • @woolandwishes
      @woolandwishes  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

That is fantastic advice! 😀 Thank you! You've inspired me to have a look at all my makes and see which ones I want to wear most and if they were also exciting to knit etc. 😍 Thank you for spending time with us, hope you are having a great weekend! 💕

This was so cool!!! I think this year I’m going to let my stash inspire me. I’m going to look at what I have and choose patterns based on that instead of getting excited about a pattern and then being bummed I don’t have whatever in stash :) also, I’m going to knit more for myself. In 13 years of knitting, 2024 was the FIRST year I’d ever knit something for myself.

Lovely video, it's great seeing your favourite makes and hearing about your creative plans for this year. You could use some of your cotton stash to make your wee creatures. I use cotton to make soap sacks (include soap) and face scrubbies which I leave in little free pantries in my area or at the homeless outreach. I have been doing a no buy January and am looking forward to it ending! This year I am weighing the yarn in and out (finished objects) of my stash just for fun - January statistics looking good because of the no buy 😂 I want to make some wearables this year, a Billie blanket by Insomnia crochet, and continue crocheting for charity (I make small cat blankets and donate to the local shelter). I also made myself some challenge cards and will pull out two per month, this month was to do the no buy and to make something from a kit - I managed both, yay!

Very fun watch tonight. Love your plans, isn’t January fun? I’m participating in Alice’s soxalong she’s doing with Diane and instead of putting them in market I’m gifting myself a box of socks for Christmas. And with any luck I’ll win wool as I’m not buying either 😂. I have a substantial stash so unless I’m willing it to my kids I best get at it lol. I have been in 2 stores with wool this month and didn’t buy. My husband was shocked and told me how proud he was 😂. The second one I actually said to the cashier “This is the first time I’ve left here without wool, I am not okay!” 🤣. I had baby gifts to knit for the 18th, 4th grandbaby, so market prep was delayed. January plan was knitting heads, yes, heads, the piddly part of dolls and animals. I think I’m at 35 in the basket and 2 days left! Yes, I’m that lister type lol. Love your plans, the projects and the using the already owned patterns and books. Good luck with your plans! Looking forward to seeing your progress.
    Edit
I’ve been using up the cotton stash on baskets combined with acrylics and wool. 9mm hook, 7 strands, very colourful and functional. I find if I throw in an ombré or two the outcome is very nice.

That was fun seeing your favorite things. I think I'll try the dice trick each month to pull out and work on a wip. I hadn't heard that before but think it's a fun idea. I'm currently finishing my second gnome and have The Never Too Late sweater on hold while I finish the gnome. I just bought Laura Penrose's new cardigan as I really want just a staple cardi. I like the idea of making some plans for 2025 especially using books I already have, knitting the patterns I've already bought and using my stash. You both are very inspiring.

My thoughts regarding my knitting, at least to start the year….
    1) use yarn stash 🥸
    2) don’t buy patterns til ready to start the project 🤓

Thank you for another lovely podcast. I always enjoy what you make, knit while you two banter. I'm working on 2 cardigans atm, the Midland Cardigan by Laura Penrose and Pressed Flowers by Amy Christoffers. The Midland, I'm using my own hand dyed yarn held with a mohair and it's an easy garter stitch but a sideways construction. The Pressed Flowers is a mosaic knit, which I haven't done before. really enjoying both patterns

Thanks so much for showing us all your fabulous makes, and your plans for this year 🥰. I have just finished my first cable cardigan, the winters beach by Andrea Mowry, with pockets! I made it in budget friendly Yarnsmiths dk merino, held with Rico make it tweed, and it looks amazing with those yarns, I am so pleased with my first attempt at this. It was so very easy because Andrea walks us through every step and holds your hand all the way! Happy new year to you both, will look forward to seeing your projects this year, happy knitting , kind regards 🥰🙏. x x

working on a hipster top as I watch, doing mine in one colour cotton/linen yarn with a feather and fan lace at the bottom, Have made 3 riptide v necks, just love the pattern and it fits so well, just be sure to check armhole depth as I found it was a bit deep on me, but I was making them to wear as singlets, ie nothing underneath. Kirsty, there is a free pattern called Ambiente which has a contiguous shoulder that might be a good make with your cotton yarn, I am using the very simple lace pattern from that at the bottom of the hipster.

Great podcast. Some of the projects were new to me as I must have subscribed partway through the year. You both have amazing plans and I hope you succeed with lots of them. Things change throughout the year but it’s nice to at least have a list. I haven’t a list as yet. I usually do but my big thing this year is to not knit for the sake of knitting, but make something that is needed or really wanted. I also have a cross stitch throw that I started in 2001 and left sit for many years in between then and now and this year it is going to be finished. Looking forward to more podcasts.

kirsti i remember the first time you showed those fantastic socks you designed and were not happy with the jog at beg of round, was thinking you could do a stripe of either color of 2 or 3 sts at beg of round and on the opposite side to eliminate the jog. thank you both for taking the time to share your projects, you're very inspirational for me with knitting, spinning, and using my handspun. I'm on year 3 of stash down, which is harder than it sounds when you spin! but it's keeping me conscious that I'm fortunate to have overabundance of yarn. An idea for a knitalong, make a project using a book you own that you've never used?

Don’t fall off your chairs, but I came into 2025 with 47 wips!! I am using the dice method from Tonya at Karma’s a stitch, and it’s working brilliantly. I haven’t listed the projects, just the bags so I won’t reject it before I even pick it up. I work on it for a week, but do my temperature blanket every day, 10 rows on a sock and periodically a dishcloth/tea towel so I don’t get bored. In January I have finished 3 garments, which is amazing for me plus a fair amount of smaller projects. In an effort to reduce my stash, I’m allowing myself 10 grams in for every 100 gms out. I look forward to your podcast every month, and loved seeing your favourites. You give me lots of inspiration, and Kirsty I think you have an amazing eye for colour and I agree best penguono I’ve ever seen. Tracy everything you do is so perfect. Thank you both 😊

Hi Ladies! Another great podcast. What I am doing this year to use up some of my cotton yarn is taking part in a KAL . It should be on Ravelry but it’s a temperature dishcloth. They give you the temps in 12 ranges and they show Celsius and Fahrenheit. Each day of the month you knit only 2 rows per day with the color you assigned for that temperature. At the end of the month you have a dishcloth. At the end of the year you have 12 dishcloths. I am also giving myself a goal of knitting a pair of socks each month in various sizes so I can give them for gifts. Take care.

Thank you Margaret! ☺️ A few tips I can think of would be, read patterns carefully. Most mistakes I make are because of me misreading things. 😅 Learn to Tink (unknitting stitches). Use stitch markers between pattern repeats, and use lifelines to save your work 😁 I hope these are helpful. 💕

Brilliant video today ladies and I loved seeing some of your wonderful projects again and your plans for this year. I was wondering Kirstie if you could recommend an oversized easy knit cardigan/ jacket using handspun in appx Aran weight?
