I know their dynasty status will be questioned because they never won back-to-back championships but the 2010-2014 Giants went three for three in the World Series with a combined record of 12-4 in those three World Series (4-1 in '10, 4-0 in '12, 4-3 in '14). That's extremely impressive as well.
@@87Khein It is but their titles were punctuated by two years where they didn't even make the playoffs (2011, 2013). That is a mark that makes the Yankee dynasty stand above all others of the last half-century.

They don't suck bro. The dynasty Yanks was just something you'll never see again. They were the lone exception to the rule of the MLB playoffs (from 1995 to present) basically being random. When a team who wins 58% of the time plays a team who wins 56% of the time in a best of 5, that's basically just a coin toss. Theres no strategy to employ, or players to get etc that can overcome the random factor of a short series btw similar teams. People don't like to admit that for some reason....but the Yankees just have to keep getting to October, and one of these years they'll catch the breaks and win it all.
There are lots of overlooked moments in this series. People tend to think the Mets got smoked because it was only five games, but they didn't. It was actually quite tense. Game 1 there was the Timo Perez blunder which resulted in him getting thrown out at home. Going into the ninth inning the Yankees were down and had to rally to tie and ultimately walk off in extras. In game 2 the Mets put up a five spot in the ninth inning to put them within one but fell short. After taking game 3, it appeared that the Mets were gaining momentum, but that was taken away in game 4 with Jeter's first pitch homer (even that game was decided by one run). Finally, Piazza narrowly missed the sweet spot in hitting a two out game tying shot in game 5.
That was so sweet! 3 in a row! That was a great World Series every game was close. The way things are going for the Mets it will be another 40 years before the next one
I wonder if I will ever see this again in my lifetime? The Yankees had outstanding years in the 70s and the 90s. I was torn because I loved the Mets, but I respected the exceptional talent of the Yankees.

I wouldn't call a best-of-seven series that was over after five games "epic." Not a single World Series during that 1998-2000 Yankees three-peat was "epic." That's the only one that went seven games and it had tons of walk-off wins for both teams.
