    As a 3rd generation Cards fan (at 40 yrs old), #1 still gives me goosebumps. I think a lot of us counted them out several times during that game but they showed their true colors. Arguably one of the greatest WS of all times. My first son was born in ‘06 and was 7 months old during this WS. I will always remember my dad picking him up and dancing when Waino recorded the final K in game 7. Great, great memories. GO CARDS!!!
    And one more add... just think what Joe Buck felt calling game 6 and being able to quote his great father from the 1991 series. He just added his own little twist. Great vid EXE

    For me, the greatest World Series moment/s was games 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series. A month after 9/11, two straight two out two run game tying home runs in the ninth in front of a crowd in the Bronx that desperately needed something to cheer about. I’m a die hard Red Sox fan but those two nights were two of the more meaningful occurrences in history.

      @rjm22nd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Remember watching that Game 7 in 2001. What made that bottom of the 9th D-Backs comeback epic was that they pulled it off against the ABSOLUTE BEST IN THE GAME at that time, Mariano Fuckin' Rivera!! And 2001 was Rivera in his PRIME. And that was one of the rare times that a team beat Rivera in a playoff game. Not really beat the Yankees, but BEAT RIVERA.

    • @Rocky2418
      @Rocky2418 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Believe it or not, even as a lifelong Yankee fan, it was my favorite series growing up as well. The end of it was absolutely devastating for me, of course. But those two magical moments in games 4 and 5 in New York... Tino hitting a game-tying 2-run HR with the Yankees down to their last out in a must-win game (for all intents and purposes, seeing as how Johnson and Schilling would be back in games 6 and 7 in Arizona); and then Brosius accomplishing literally the exact same feat of desperation *the very next night.* (Made even more amazing by the fact that those HRs merely tied each game, and they managed to win each in extra innings.) Even though they still lost in the end, those two baseball moments will forever mean the most to me.
      Really, that 2011 Cardinals game 6 was on the same level - the only difference was that the Cards successfully won their series in the end, and so that rightly sits at number 1, objectively speaking.

    The call as Davis ties up game 7 in Cleveland against the cubs still gives me chills. I screamed bloody murder on more than one occasion that night. Then to have a weather delay, only made for great curse-breaking baseball

    • @billny33
      @billny33 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can't imagine the horror you must have experienced seeing Davis hit that ball out thinking you were just 4 outs from breaking the curse then thinking it was impossibly out of reach because that crowd was all into it. You had blown a 6-1 lead, you had taken your excellent starter out early, your over-the-hill catcher gave up 2 runs on one wild pitch off the dome, you had a closer being overworked who was now being asked to pitch the 9th when he was likely demoralized and out of gas. Everything was going wrong and yet, you still won and got to break the curse anyway.
      Funny thing about those curses it seems, whether it's the Red Sox, the Cavaliers or the Cubs, the teams that finally break them always manage to do it in the most epic ways possible.

    As a Yankee fan who grew up in the Bronx, and was downtown 9-11 (worst day of my life), the 2001 WS stung the most. Imagine how incredible it would have been if the Yankees won that year which would have lifted the entire country (other than Diamond back fans of course). Even Redsox fans would have appreciated that. Would have been nice, but hats off to the Arizona DB’s. Great series and clearly it should have been #1 on this reel no doubt about it (not because I’m a Yankee fan but because of what happened that year less than a month earlier). They went on to win the series with s game game seven performance by Chris Carpenter. Unless you’re a dodgers fan fan the 2017 WS was awesome to watch. So many close games and back and forth scoring. I’ll take that over a sweep 9/10.

      Unless you're any other team fan the 2017 was awful. No one agrees that they deserved that win

      @@VondaBlips Maybe they didn’t but you can’t say that you weren’t on the edge of your seat that whole World Series. Even though they cheated, it was still such a memorable WS

    You got this right, by definition. The Cubs and Red Sox (ChiSox also) were great accomplishments to end years of frustration, but that Game 6 in 2011, the were in that moment all hangs in the balance type of stuff, heck that Game had three W..S. moments that could go in a top 20 list ! Cool list IMO.

      Joe RK For real, the only thing I even remember from that series is the Podsednik walk off. Certainly not a 6th inning one run single. Only Sox fans remember that.

      Well, the White Sox broke their "curse" as well, one that was even longer than the Red Sox's "curse."

    • @thetrainwxgeek
      @thetrainwxgeek 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Cause the Sox broke their curse and it was a big moment when Dye hit the winning single plus since then, the Sox have really struggled to win. Hopefully they’ll be back within the next couple of years

      Even as a Cub fan, I agree that the 2005 Sox were a brilliant, overlooked team. And the fact that they ended an 88-year drought is always forgotten. Many purists probably still hold 1919 against the franchise.

    Been a cubs fan for a very long time. Mark grace, ryne Sandberg, Kerry wood days. Never thought in my lifetime would ever see it. 2016. Went to game 6. We won. At that moment... you just knew. Then I was trippin after Davis hit that home run. Then the weather delay. And Ben zobrist happened. And Almora changing the entire complexity of the game with that tag up. And they won! Never forget it
