    Win Doug Aldrich Signature Suhr Pickups: bit.ly/WinSuhrP...
    PG’s John Bohlinger hung with Doug Aldrich and Marco Mendoza of the Dead Daisies before their paint-peeling, face-melting, sold-out at Nashville’s Basement East.
    Aldrich spends most of the set on these two 2006 Gibson R7 Les Paul Standards. Both have been upgraded with Aldrich’s signature Suhr humbuckers and larger stainless steel frets that were installed by Bruce Nelson in LA.
    Mendoza’s main bass is his ESP LTD Marco Mendoza Signature bass. This stunner features EMG X pickups, a Hipshot Extender, and a dark, see-through green sunburst finish.

    I love Doug. I met him at the NAMM show this year by accident and actually took the time to talk to me while I was freaking out. I also ran into him at a Judas Priest show walking down the ticket line just like everyone else. And he actually recognized me when I came up to him! Probably the nicest rockstar out there

      I met Doug when he was with his original band, "Lion", through his vocalist Kal Swann who I was friends with and he was one the most humble, friendliest and genuine talented musicians I've had the pleasure to know. His resume speaks for itself. Dio, Whitesnake and now his various projects just show the true talent he has. He probably is one of the most under rated guitar players around and that's mainly due to his quiet nature. I am always floored whenever I've seen him play.

    Two kinds of Rig Rundowns, Great ones like this where they talk, compare and play the gear! a LOT! And then all the rest talking it all to death and boring as could be for it. This and the Andy Timmons are some of the best.

      i love the Steve Lukather one personally cos steve likes to show off his soloing skills on his guitars a lot, he only had two of his signature models there, and then we get taken over the pedals and Bogner amps by his tech Jon
      which i found a great thing to have both Guitarist and Tech share the rundown

    • @6bender
      @6bender 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm overwhelmed with the passion, their enthusiasm and how humble these very talented and accomplished (famous in their own right) guys are. Just watching and listening to them talk about their own instruments is awe inspiring. It's also the very first time in 45 years of playing guitar myself, that i've been thoroughly impressed with watching and hearing a bass player talk about his gear, Marco Mendoza is one of the best bass players in the world, I was so impressed with his take on his gear. again so humble and passionate. Absolutely fantastic, I sooo wish i was there. Thanks again to Premier Guitar for doing yet another seriously gobsmacking video. Greetings from Crete, Greece.

    Funny. Malmsteen used an analog delay to do opposite of EVH's Eruption ending at the end of the Hot On Your Heels solo, where it goes up and up until it eventually crashes back into itself. The Carbon Copy pedal (or any old one with bucket brigade tech) is great for that stuff.

    • @TheRealCowlick
      @TheRealCowlick 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      More legato based playing rather than alternate picking. Slash's guitar is also slung as low as Aldrich's and he also has that same legato-based style.

    • @majav15mg
      @majav15mg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Zakk Wylde holds it low as well and yet his guitar playing is very pick intensive. I play guitar more or less like him and I find the right hand to be easier, actually. Also, by wrist I’m assuming you mean the wrist of your fretting hand? If that is the case, having the thumb over the neck helps quite a lot (another reason classical guitar dogma doesn’t work on electric guitar). You can also get a wide leather strap to prevent neck dive and hold it at a steep angle like Zakk.

    Watching how he runs his talk box is similar to what I do. I just take a splitter out the TB output hole and run half to PA and half to the 4x12 then put the PA volume like he was saying at a good mix. I do like the volume pedal idea though cause it would give you more control but for 2-5 dollars a splitter is the close enough. Still it is refreshing to see someone doing something I do a little bit different since everyone around here is talk box inhibbited except for me and they all think that what I do is not "by the book" etc. I am just like "No you all are just about 50 years behind and trying to copy everyone else instead of thinking for yourself" I recently have been doing some triple play stuff, going through guitar rig5pro and into my Marshall. Now I am learning how to make my own wavs through Serum and import them through the tripleplay as a VST. Seriously, a Marshall Code 50, 8 year old I5 laptop or better and some software with a triple play you can have ANY sound you can dream up! You will not believe what I am going to use for my raw samples then incorporate through my guitar! Thanks Furman and other tech companies for the innovations to make this possible on a guitar!
