- We met Doug Aldrich in Copenhagen just before the show with Dead Daisies. Doug walked us through his set-up and gave a test of some of his favourite Plethora X3 settings that he uses on the tour.
Doug is getting familiar with the 2290 P Dynamic Delay and demos a few sounds with that as well.

“Ok guys I haven’t warmed up yet” proceeds to melt my face off.. Doug is so cool and laid back. 🤘🏼✌🏼
Doug’s a genuine person.
Doug is pure rock and roll with a kind soul 🙌🏽
Got to know about Doug when he was performing with DIO back in 01. That dvd change my guitar playing journey.
I've admired Doug's playing since 1987 when he was in the band Lion. I must have drove my family crazy with the great number of times I listened to their album 'Dangerous Attraction'.
I found Dangerous Attraction in an antique store about 5 years ago. Fantastic album!
When you have Doug’s hands, the amps don’t matter as much….killer player and tones….always
The Plethora X3 is a very utilitarian piece of gear. It's so easy to dial up and save - it never leaves the board, for both electric and acoustic shows.
Those Suhr pickups are great on the Les Paul. Fantastic.
I have one on the bridge of my home-built LP. Absolute beast, I love it to bits!
I love them for Les Paul’s too. I have it in several Les Pauls.
He is a true master👌 Even during sound checking he never fails one note! It’s amazing👋
Sounding great
First song I heard him play was the Transformers Theme from the 1986 movie, which he also co-wrote with Ford Kinder and Ann Bryant. Awesome rendition of the Transformers theme!
That marvelous tone. 😊 👍
Doug Aldrich showing why he is such an amazing guitar player and individual as well!!! Is such a pleasure to watch and listen to him perform always!!! Simply marvelous!!!
cool guy nice pedalboard - great player
Your so awesome Doug 💪💯🔥🎸🎶🎵
Doug the king of cool Aldridge!
Doug is super Kool
and great guitarist!
TC electronics is great also !🤘
Top! Show!
Dougs 🤘🏻
there's somethings about TC and Gibson.
Yeah, wha's up with the silly blurr on the headstock? As if we didn't know what fiddle Douggie has been using forever? What a load of horse pucky!
Plot twist: Doug was playing a Harley Benton all along 😂
Killer Tone!!
This guy could play a broomstick handle and it would sound amazing
What's with the blurred headstock?
Gibson Les Paul
Gonna assume there's some disagreements with Gibson, where they won't allow mentions or depictions of their name in TC Electronic's videos.
Notice how Doug doesn't mention Gibson when talking about his guitars, but that he also hasn't put any black tape over the logo on his Gibson Les Paul. That leads me to assume that this has to do with Music Tribe, the company that owns TC Electronic, and not with Doug himself.
"this is my guitar, it's a...... a standard.... A standard one"
That was hilarious
Yeah must be a tc thing. Its a 2006 r7 les paul. He talked about the guitar in detail in a blackstar video 6 months ago
It's because we were asked not to show their products in our videos. This is not coming from MusicTribe, but the guitar brand.
This current rig sort of reminds me of Randy Rhoads’ sound than anything I’ve heard before. I wonder if Doug was going for that since he was his student. Oh well, looks and sounds killer either way.
Cool video. Would have loved to know what the Eventide is doing between his Blackstar heads.
Pretty sure thats his delay that runs through the loop that he can leave on if he wants to. Also there's a boss switch on his board that activates it. The 2290 might be replacing it though
Just to help folks out as love Doug and he goes thru gear and has great tones and dials things in, but doesn't technically know thing.
His Magic Box Pedal, which he he has been using exclusively for like 15 years is 2 pedals in 1!
The gainy one as he says is just a slightly modified Ibanez Tube Screamer circuit with a 3-way switch to add bass in 2 of the modes!
The other clean gain side, is again a slightly modified MXR Micro Amp.
It was really hard to watch because of the camera use... Yet sounds cool.
Is it just me or did Doug not even know the name of his own amps?? I know he recently switched from Marshall to Blackstar but still, I was actually shocked he went with Blackstar.
All good, but wondering why the headstock is blurred ... ? Strange.
Hilarious not being able to say "Gibson"...Even with the Scala, "it's kinda like a 1954 guitar"....hahahaha!
What's up with blurring the Gibson Headstock?
Why are you digitally obscuring his Guitar headstock on his Gibson[?] guitar..... And then showing a clear headstock on the Scala Guitar.... Some endorsement problem?
A law firm representing the brand recently claimed infringement when we showed their products on our channels. We love all guitar gear and wouldn't mind sharing this beautiful instrument in full detail.
@@tcelectronic I would think any good publicity for any brand would be a good thing on any channel. But who can account for the things that run through corporate minds these days.
Gibson keeps getting stupider! It’s advertising that a very talented guitarist who’s been in white snake, Dio, etc… playing their gear. I’m so sick of Gibson I’m getting ready to sell mine and get a Heritage guitar with better build quality.
Why is the guitar headstock blurred out?
Why blur the Gibson headstock and not the Scala?
I liked better the sound when he used the JMP Marshalls modded by John Suhr
Why is his Gibson headstock blurred out?
what's up with not showing the headstock of the guitar?
wait when did doug aldrich started to play backstars instead of suhr modified jmp's
Amps????
Gibson taking the piss now , love them to death but , wanting everyone to play "original" then forcing people to blur out their products, i mean come on.... what's that about ? everyone knows doug plays gibson les pauls ....whats the worst that can happen? Someone copies the design???!
Is anything going through the loop?
I see an H9 with the amps along with a switch to bypass it on the board just above the amp channel selector switch, you can even see him use the bypass switch in the video
Great rundown, but the camera work makes it hard to watch… is it a gear video or a film student’s project? Adding a little style is nice, but we don’t need Tarantino filming gear vids
Why blurry headstock then? I’m not clued into all these guitar politics 😬
They haven't made the rocket fuel in years.. would be great if TC or Dunlop would make a good clone of that pedal.
Nice board but pedals mounted sideways…yuk!
Such a drama queens. Was a Blurring one a Montecci or Capuletti? I didn't get it right.
Gotta love how Gibson has to make everyone's lives annoying and stupid. 🙄
there guitars are over priced - you can get some budget friendly LP style guitars that are spec'd better they just do not say gibson on the headstock
Blurring out the headstock WTF is that all about ..
Its a les paul
.
なんでギブソンのロゴにモザイクがかかるのだろう。
Doug seemed like he didn't want to be there.
I will not bow to any sponsor...
Not impressed?
Sure youre not lmao
How can you be so careless about your sound? I don't understand. The pedals are quite normal, the instrument is good.....Was it really impossible to get good cords?
