Couple call outs Team: Loose = Lose - typo... The small faction miniatures ARE included in the game - its only the larger miniatures I have added in for thematic enhancements. That is probably obvious but wanted to clarify
There are not many youtube reviews about this game and the ones out there suck and are useless, aside from watching the official GF9 how to play videos. Yours is actually the only good one I saw, and gives a real feel of the game, the mechanics and thankfully a brief round overview that clarifies and allows to decide whether this is a game one would like to get or not. I have GF9's Sons of Anarchy and I knew it shared mechanics with this one and wanted to see if they were the same, with different skin. They are not, some part of it is, but they differ in other mechanics and this Vault is more complex with a little more things to do as it presents more variables. Due to your review I now have that cleared out and probably will get this game as well.
My 8 year old son and I had a blast today as I finally got a chance to sit down and try it with him. I wasn’t to sure and was confused by the rule book. We got most of the nuts and bolts figured out. The videos definitely helped. I’m going to really get it down so we can bring in his two younger brothers. I really want them to get into board games as we’ll always have 3-4 people in the house who will play board games with me when they’re older. MUCH cheaper than having more than one game console to be sure!
I just now found your playing sample of this game, i swear i couldnt find anything on it before. A channel called Big Ian does a play of it with a top down camera, that one was just done last year. Thanks for doing it, i really wanted to see how it actually played as it seemed every game channel just complained about the rules and didnt show anything at all about like they just said forget it. I was still trying to decide about getting lately it as it looked interesting and i still had a feeling that it might be worth it.
Its a cool game, specially if you like D&D. All the locations, artwork, etc. really adds to the fun. I think some reviewers just see end game as a little too random. I don’t disagree, it can be a little random but the fun you have getting there is what its all about. This is a game that will always stay in my collection - there are not that many properly themed D&D board games out there. Its fun to actually watch the other players take their turn. Or massively fail when they go for the win at the end.
Subbed. Theres a lack of great D&D board game explainers/ reviewers that clears things up a bit more than the included rules does. Hope the upcoming Onslaught D&D boardgame stay as premised since its a combat focused skirmish pvpve game
Great review, bought the game a while back as not heard of it before and thought it looked/sounded good from back of the box. But have not yet had chance to pull it out mainly due to the rule book.
What a great video. So true about the rules really suck as presented. We had a pre-release demo at Gen Con to give some education or would have been lost. This video sewed up some things we were questioning. Thanks!
