I had that same moment the first time I played RE4 on the gamecube. I was 12 at the time. It happened one other time, two years later, when my cousin showed me Gears of War on his new 360.
The thing about Metroid Prime that really impressed me was seeing Samus's face reflected in her visor at certain moments. It was all round a special game. I don't even like first person shooters but Metroid Prime I love to death.
The demo disc with Soul Calibur II was by far my favorite to play back at Target. I remember the voices being in Japanese and Nightmare having Link's voice actor lol. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the english voices when I bought the full game later!
6:42 "And the disk looks like the person barely played it, if ever". Get this: Discs does not get scratches if you care about them, even if you play the heck out of the Game. My Release Luigi's Mansion Disc looks like new, but i beaten the Game over 10 times now.

Other ppl just "throw" them somewhere else to make room for another Disk. Im not sure how ignorant ppl can be to get this hard scratches like in this Video and wonder why it doesn't work anymore. But at least ppl start to learn, that scratches don't come from playing the Games. I mostly buy used Last Gen Games and if i think about used Wii and Wii U Titles, most of the Discs looks like never touched but the Box itself has scratches from getting out/put it back on the Shelf (you know, if more Games Boxes Slide against each other)

I've just started collecting games, I've only got around 7 right now but videos like this make me super excited to get more!
Those Interactive Multi-Game demo discs, some are very rare. 14 and 16 contain the Berry Glitch Zigzagoon program that connects to Ruby and Sapphire to fix the Berry Glitch. You get a free shiny Zigzagoon holding a Liechi Berry. It took me a while to find 16 but I finally got it two years ago after having only 14 for a number of years. I'm not sure of the current pricing as I've been out of the Pokémon distribution game a while now but they used to reach over $200-300 at times. Only versions 14 and 16 contain this program. If you have one, hold on to it. It's a gem.

Kind of cool to see they made quite a few demo discs over the GameCube's lifespan. The GameCube kiosks in Australia effectively stopped appearing from the end 2003. The last one I remember playing had Fzero GX and Soul Calibur 2.
If you mean the normal game then you can get the pal version for 30 - 40 euro and the NTSC version for around 50 euro. If you want it New / Factory Sealed expect to pay 100 - 200

I put hundreds of hours on SSX. The soundtrack was great because they got Mix Master Mike, the DJ in Beastie Boys, to do it. Every section has it's own track and transitions and different routes change the tone and music playing. He actually synced up rhythm changes to match so it wasn't a hard abrupt transition. I'd love a rerelease of that game. EA would never do it, but I'd buy it day of.

Nintendo bundled that preview disc in with the gamecube system and the gameboy advance player, hence why that one has artwork on the box and a list of games. I got that bundle for Christmas and all I had to play on it for over two months were those game demos and my gameboy games. The demos were comparatively long at least. It had the entire first mission of Splinter cell, etc.
SSX Tricky needs to be remade I’ll pay for it!!! GameCube was awesome I remember getting the silver one with Mario Kart double dash and super Mario sunshine 🤙🏾

2:00 correct me if I'm wrong because I don't know for sure but I always believed that since the Ps2 was technologically the lowest common denominator and had the bigger install size by far, developers would primarily build the game, assets etc on Ps2, and then simply port the game over to the Gamecube and Xbox. Sometimes with or without upgrades.
Also hopefully with enough videos like these, the myth of the Gamecube having poor 3rd party multiplat support (comparable to the N64 which had very little) can die and go away lol.
You've probably already gotten a ton of comments about this, but that Preview Disc with Sonic Adventure DX and Billy Hatcher doesn't have a number because that was the only one ever intended for the public. It actually came bundled in with a few models for a while. It's all the other ones with the lame, soulless covers that are the ones stores got.
I remember those double disc games on the gamecube... ohhh what good memories!!!! My first game to beat was Luigis mansion. And eternal darkness!!!! And of course Smash on the Game Cube..

I have all the Official Xbox Magazine Demo Discs that are from the original Xbox era. They are like a time capsule. Some of them even have demos and trailers for games that never came out.
Simpson's Road Rage, Simpson's Hit n Run, Crazy Taxi, F-Zero, SSX3 (better than tricky), Viewtiful Joe, Zelda Collectors Edition (4 game compilation), Pokemon XD, Donkey Konga (with bongos - you could open them up for a tech video)

That version of Metroid Prime you played is actually a beta version of the game. If you compare the HUD and some of the audio the differences are VERY noticeable.

I still have a lot of my old gamecube games, i remember getting chocobo's dungeon a while back, as i heard it was really good, i think that was only on the wii, and ds, but crystal chronicles was on the gamecube iirc.
Also, people prefer the Gamecube Twilight Princess because it is not mirrored like the Wii version was. Wii was mirrored to have Link's sword in his right hand to match most players being right handed for added motion controls.

We like these discs because some of the demos are early builds, and can have very interesting coding that will likely be removed from the end product.
