I totally agree that co-ops can be intimidating! Homeschooling already takes so much time and effort that when you also have small kids at home and maybe even part-time work, joining anything at all can be so hard! And then, too, I think we all homeschool to some extent because we want to cater to our own family’s needs, and homeschooling is such a blessing because it allows us to do that, but the flip side is that we might be more reticent to let other people get involved. Especially if we don’t know them. Or maybe that’s just me. 😂 But I love your idea for a homeschool co-op that focuses on extracurriculars, like fun activities or sports or cooking or day trips! And I love the other comment on here about a co-op that’s more of a play group and a chance for fellowship. Be sure and let us know what you end up doing!
Absolutely love co-ops for a myriad of reasons. I always started and ran my own so that we could cover and set it up in a way that suited our lives during that time. Have had co-ops with 60 kids down to extra small ones with only about 15. Hands down the smaller ones - what I call Tiny Co-ops - are the best, or at least they were for us. 🙂 Best of luck with this!
How awesome you are brave to start a co-op! Sounds like fun areas to tackle. I think it’ll be great. I’m sure the other parents will be willing to help in any way you need.
I’ve still got friends from my homeschool co op so I want my kids to be in a good co op!!! We are travel schooling with my work and they have a co op that meets wherever we are in the hotels!!! I’ve looked for good co ops!!! I’m planning the travel for work so I find the best places in the locations w are in and we do electives!!! We have a team working on the co op planing and planning the classes!!!
I am not a co-op person which is why I didn’t join the collab, but I am part of a small friend group that meets every other week during the school year. It’s mostly just a chatty time for us moms and playtime at one of our houses for the kids. 😊 That’s what I woukd try first, but your drawing class sounds like a fantastic idea! I would do something like that. But not a super academic co-op. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!❤
Do you know what they say in Norway? "There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes", in Norwegian "Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, det finnes bare dårlig klær", beatiful, right?
Have you been part of a coop before? What are your thoughts on them?

Haha, it's not just you! It's a lot to tackle. And I do get very independent with it. We'll see what we end up with. :)

Yeah, that sounds nice and chill and I would definitely consider something like that instead.
Just bring the kids to the park and let them play with whatever kids are there, at least while they're that young.
Yeah, I've been considering that too. It can just be really cold here during the winter, which makes it harder....

Haha...I like that. But still, with littles cold weather makes for no fun sometimes....
I would suggest you to try a coop close to you, to see how you like it. Starting a coop is a lot more work! 😅 thanks for joining the collab!
Thanks for the advice! :)
