That looks like an amazing trip with lots of beautiful fish. I’m sure Hunter and Bennett had a great time. You’re teaching your boys some awesome skills. You’re an amazing Dad, Mark!
Thanks for watching. We learned so much on that trip. Hard to believe we had all that water when it was SO cold. Looking forward to some more trips next winter.
There were a few times in the night while I was laying there with cold feet and hearing the volcano, I was questioning my parenting decisions…. But, we made it through the night and had a great day.
Hardy souls, as the cold temperatures would not be for me and fishing. So glad you caught something, makes it all worthwhile! Building great memories with the boys.
Hi Mark, Hunter & Bennett, I enjoy seeing you & the boys getting excited at catching fish. Seeing the northern lights we gorgeous what a site to see. I was wondering how come you didn’t drive your truck where you were camping & when you were using the auger how do you prevent it from going into the water & how come you were going to put the lake trout back in the water? I know these are probably silly questions to ask about. Thanks for taking us on your aventurine’s
This lake has too much snow on it to drive and the “locals” will string you up if you drive on the groomed trails. The auger blade is smaller than the motor and handles, so it won’t go through if you drop it.
This is a wild fishery, and lake trout can live for 30+ years. They are easily over-harvested, so we were trying to be conservative. Plus we have lots of salmon in the freezer at home.
I loved everyone's excitement! When Hunter was telling us how the his fish tasted it sounded to me, like he said, it tasted like elephant and frog...lol. I'm sure I just heard him wrong. 😉 That had to have been so frightening feeling the affects of the valcano. It's dark and your on frozen water & I'm sure it took a bit to find out what was going on. You will always have that as a family story, we survived the Conga Valcano! What a fun time you Alaska Boys had, enjoy some good eating!!! 🌼
Wowee what a great Adventure Alaska Boys!!! I was laughing so hard when Mark was screaming about catching the Fish. I started to scream too in the excitement. Mark, you are the greatest Dad!!! I think if they caught a tiny one you would scream just as loud. I loved that you measured the fish. They look big on Camera but they appear smaller. Is it hard to reel them in? What a great Birthday Hunter!!! And your cake looked so good. Kinda stunk about the water but like you said, Sometimes that is how it goes. You Boys always make the best out if it. THANK YOU for All your hard work to get it all set up, and your time, it is so awesome for your viewer's. Gary just loves you guys. The Hamm Boys are true Alaskan Boys of the Wild Fishin'!! What a Birthday!!!
I really get excited and caught up in the moment when we are out fishing. We’d been trying for a long time, so it was VERY exciting to finally be catching fish.
That was so awesome to watch! The real question is where do you go potty when camping out on the ice? Are there accessible public bathrooms? The water in the tent made me cold and l was watching in 30o Celsius heat 😁 Guys in the Western world spend the weekend with the blower vac and ride on mowers, boys in Alaska they got ice drills to play with 😅. The fish looked fantastic, the Northern lights so special. Thanks for sharing 👍
Just drill another hole in the ice, but only about halfway down and you’ve got an instant outhouse. Just cover it with snow when you’re ready to leave.
There are other ways too. We double line a bucket with smaller trash bags and do business in there, tie them up and put them in a heavy trash bag. You dont want that stuff leaking out. Also use disposable gloves so there is no mess and no hand washing needed in cold temperatures It works quite well especially for my girls I bringl. It can be done in a nice heated tent too. 👍🏻
We are already looking at the calendar for when we can try again. Hopefully in a few weeks, plus by then we will have 1.5 more hours of daylight than we did on our trip.
That is crazy cold, Well done on the fish and the video! I hope you got them on ice straight away LOL! Hello from Aussie, love the video, Great fun to watch! Stay safe!
Thanks for the stoke! It was cold but fun and we are hopefully going again soon. Stay tuned for more ice fishing…. 😂, there’s still two more months of winter.
Nice catch lol hey they have a tray u can fit on the top of the buddy heater. I bought one 2 yrs ago at bass pro or cabelas Also if your looking for water lake depths they have a map listing on fish and game site. Or app. Just tryin to help out with ur fun.
Probably a silly question… U mentioned limit p,person on fish.. Does fish u consume while there count toward limit? I would think not , but hey city girl here 🤷♀️
What does Burbot taste like? Such an awesome catch guys! Happy Birthday Bennett!! Mark your a great dad. Teaching and loving your boys

What a great father and sons trip! Looks too cold for this ol’ Missouri lady. 😉
It’s definitely not for everyone, but we sure enjoy it.

Thanks, that was our first time ice camping and I learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t.
👏💕
@@cindyjohnson5581 thanks Cindy. I see you’ve been watching through the catalog!
Don't shovel the snow...just pack it down...you won't have water feet...just a hard learned tip....lol
Totally agree! We tried that next time and it was MUCH better.
Probably a silly question…
U mentioned limit p,person on fish..
Does fish u consume while there count toward limit? I would think not , but hey city girl here 🤷♀️
It’s a per day limit, plus an amount in possession if you stay multiple days. So, yes, fish you eat technically counts towards your daily limit.
🥺 your cousin from Texas didn’t get an invite
😂 I’ll have to buy a bigger tent.
@@AlaskaBoys I have my own 😊
