RS3 Pro with tilta advanced RING GRIP - Will it WORK?

- Replacing the rs2 is not an easy task. it's an great gimbal and so this DJI ronin s3 pro has some serious shoes to fill. Today we put it on the Tilta Advanced Ring grip and see if the DJI RS 3 Pro will work with the ring!

Do the wheel dials on the Tilta handle pull focus through the RS3 Pro or does it only control Tilta's own focus motor?

do you have to buy that transmitter for the handles to work i dont see it in my rs3 pro combo
The transmitter is a Tilta part. Comes with the handles or with the Tilta Advanced ring. You can buy it separately.
Great Video! Different topic, but I am trying to get my DJI focus motor to work on this exact setup. (RS3/Advanced Ring Grip) I have the toggle on joystick handle set to "df" (dji focus motor). When switched to "tf" my Tilta Nucleus Focus motor works perfectly and is controlled by other handle with focus thumb wheels, but when toggled to "df" I can't get my DJI focus motor engage or work. Any idea? Does the other handle with 2 spin wheels need to be completely off and only the joystick handle on to make it work?
Do you have any issues with the Tilta receiver when you're also using V-lock power? I have the same setup, and unfortunately, the Tilta receiver often seems to lose power or freeze. I have to mount it a few times, and after many tries, the green light comes on. I don't know why it's losing power like that.

Peter, Because of the lack of IO, lack of usbc, bluetooth etc..what features that would normally work on most cameras with the RS3 Pro, don't work on the komodo?
If you have access to the Tamron 35-150 and an A1 or A7S III, I'd love to see you rig up that camera the same way on this gimbal/ring setup and see if there are any clearance issues.
I'll check it can get my hand on this setup. If I can I'll cover it in a video. Want to do a Sony build for a long time now. Such interesting camera's.

This Ring is so ridiculously expensive. Without those handles would be ok though
It did rise in price a lot. I pre-ordered mine and aside from the crazy long extra wait time before delivery.. It at least was quite affordable.
Does the camera balance with the Catta Zoom lenses?
It does! no batteries on the back but it does fit with a little work.
I currently own the Titla Basic Ring Grip and I was wondering if there was a carry case that you use or something to hold it in unpacked when traveling. Anything would be helpful, thanks.

I just got off the phone with titla, apparently the other handle (the one without the joystick) is set to be paired with a nucleus motor. I was hoping i could balance the functionality of the handles a bit rather than have the joystick function AND pull focus on the same side. was hoping to see if you found a different solution

The quick lock function works. And functions: Only lidar and the menu of the gimbal can't be controlled through the ring. Could be more but these are the things I can across.

Great video buddy! Quick question... Tilta advanced rig is not coming with D-tap splitter what you have on top of the rig. Can you share link of that product so I can check where i can buy it. Yeah unfortunatly it doesnt work flawless with my Tilta Ring Grip and the RS3 Pro.
There is a little bit of play between the Connection from the ring to the gimbal so it always slides a little bit and creating a shake whenever lean the setup back or forward.
Preeeetty annoying
That makes it pretty much unusable. Got an RS3 Pro and thinking to get the Advanced Tilta Ring Grip. Do you have the Advanced or the normal Ring Grip?
@@symbiohse I do have the normal grip, and I am still in a back and forth communication with the firm I bought it from. They sent me a useless answer from Tilta which had nothing to do with the issue. So far no useful answers. It is possible tho, that the advanced grip works fine, also possible that I just have a somewhat faulty connection although my RS2 fits perfectly and has fit for the last year.
So please don't let my issue discourage you :-)

Does the ring setup still work with the top section removed so it is just the bottom U piece? Seems like with an additional rear handle would be a better setup so can still get low.
Is it wise to balance the DJI Ronin on the Tilta Ring or balance the Ronin off the ring

I don’t think so. The wireless transmitter from this ring can’t be connected as the rs3 has no pins. Maybe the basic ring will work as it only provide power no connectivity.
Do you expirence any vibrations or a small play in between gimbal and ring? I was shooting with this ring few times and always had some vibrations in the shot, specially when running.
No my connection is pretty solid! Other seem to have that problem as well. I do sometimes have a bit of shake in the footage but nothing Davinci’s stabilizer can;t fix.
Do you know if you can update the remote control handle of the tilta?

double check on this, I thought that the non pro version wouldn't allow for the little bluetooth connector.

Hey Peter, thanks for making this video. I've just hit a snag.... I own the Tilta Advanced Ring Grip and have just upgraded my RS2 Pro to the RS3 Pro Combo and have found that the battery does not fit in the handle socket. It won't go all the way in, it stops before the pins can make contact and it appears to be the spacing of the two little cut outs top and bottom (would be best described with a photo). Well now begins my investigation as to what's going on as I thought the battery was the same model as the previous version!
Curious as I also have the RS3 Pro Combo and my battery fits just fine.
@@meteora5673 Hey thanks for the reply - it turned out that the battery had a manufacturing defect! Got it replaced under warranty and all is good again.

I just got the ring and have this problem, but the battery fits the gimbal fine. Is this a DJI or Tilta issue?
DJI in my case. Took it back to the DJI shop with the Tilta Ring Grip, showed them and they replaced the DJI battery on the spot.@@wavelengthstudio

I was thinking the same thing. I just don't want to buy the RS4 pro so that's why I didn't make any video's for it. In regards to my trusty RS3 pro I don't know if it offeres me enough to upgrade you know.
Hey brother, do you absolutely need the module to use Tilta Remote Control Handle or we can use it without?
For communication between gimbal and the handles you do need that module you put on the gimbal.

My rs3 pro doesn't get any power through the top handle. Without the ring it works perfectly. Do you have any idea what's wrong?
Hmm, sounds like a a power problem with the ring. Did you own a rs2 and did that work?
Just upgraded my original ronin to RS 3 pro and the Tilta Ring. Works great! Any tips on RS 3 pro settings when using the ring?
So far I've been pretty happy with the auto tune settings from the rs3 pro. I do tweak the motors sometimes. I just didn't took the time up until now to really sit down for that and go in-depth. When I do There will be a video covering it :)

Which new focus puller are you talking about? Would this be the new DJI one by any chance?
I have the Float already, the Ring is on order. Still on the RS2. But yes, it's great, that they've kept it to all the same connectors.
Yes right?! I was quite afraid they would go corporate *ss on us and change it so we would need to reinvest. I guess they understood that nobody would reinvest in the new system if our eco system had to go completely.

Just had that same problem. I had to exchange my tilta ring. Joystick was defective
What about the new hard switch for pf, fpv, and custom…. Is there a way to switch the modes on the ring?
As it was made for the RS2 the handles don’t have that now. Maybe Tilta will do it trough software and/or make a new Handle. Right now you can’t change it as far as I know.

The tilta Ring grip works with both the RS3 as the RS3 Pro ;)
Where is your monitor??
I would normally add the monitor on top of the ring :) For this video that wasn't relevant as were only testing if the RS3 Pro works with the ring. If you're curious about my monitor setup check out on of my other ring video's. You'll find my monitor setup and how i connect it to the Komodo.
great vids Peter , how easy is it to pull focus with the advanced ring? is it work or still hard to do?
It's something you need to learn by doing. With cine lenses like my DZOfilm vespid primes you can do it easier as the focus distance is exact. A puller would make it more practical but with practice I can definitely pull my focus accurately.
