As someone who is employed and looking for a better option, I can say that "nobody is hiring" is true above a certain standard. I could have a fast food job tomorrow if I just needed a job. I just have standards higher than that. So, depending on her last job, she may still have standards at the same level when she needs to consider any job pays more than no job. That "I'm the prize" would have had me laughing too though.
