When my daughter was a little girl, she loved this song. Even when she got older, it would soothe her. She had many medical problems starting at age 4 with rheumatoid arthritis. She died in April 2019. So I cried through your song today, but it is mixed grief and joy. I’ll finish with her message. Bee Kind 💕🐝

Styx was my mother's favorite band. Thank's for the moment of nostalgia. A track of theirs that I personally love is "I'm Ok." From what I've read, the organ from the St James Cathedral in Chicago was used in the recording of that track.

I have been to many concerts in my 57 years but the best all around sound, lights, stage and crowd was Styx Paradise Theater tour at the Cow Palace in San Francisco I was 15 years old I will never forget thousands of people singing this song together! The show started with Dennis DeYoung coming up through the stage playing his white grand piano.. I'm so glad I grew up during this time in music. I am enjoying reliving it though watching you discover it. 😀

"Lady" is beautiful! It was from their second album... their only real hit until the 4th album, Equinox, when they exploded onto the international scene with "Suite Madam Blue"! They went back and re-issued Lady after they had made it big... ;-]

Graduated high school in 1978 in Seattle. “Come sail away” was the theme song of our graduation ceremony, which was awesome! Such an appropriate tune for the occasion! Do yourself a favor and check out the title track from that album “The Grand Illusion” and “Fooling Yourself”(the angry young man). “Crystal Ball” is also a great one, and “Suite: Madam Blue”. Enjoy my friend! 🎸

    Styx is magic.
The music lures you to a restful place.
Then BOOM BOOM BANG you’re up, wide awake, heart racing, body jumping and saying WHOA!!!
Then maybe a slow restful part comes back in.
You don’t trust it. You’re up still.
You’re right. Here comes the Boom, Boom Bang again but you’re prepared for it.
    That’s Styx.

This is the hardest song to listen too. My sons Dad died unexpectedly, it took us a year to go see his grave. This song began playing as we were leaving. His dad had been in the Navy for 21 years. Loved to fish, take the kids out on his boat. We were all crying as we left.
Still a great song. It was like he was telling us he was okay in heaven....

Sell it to our favorite music reactor by pointing out that Derringer got Weird Al on the track that led to Al's success. And I had the "All American Boy" album back in the day, but alas, I bought it on 8-track, so naturally within a year it got munched in the player. Tech is much better today than it was back then, though I still enjoy listening to vinyl, but that requires a decent turntable, which I also fortunately still own.

Funny how music takes you on some amazing rides. As I started, I was with many of you going back to high school. Smiling.
Then bam. This was my brother's favorite band. We would argue about it. He loved this type of music. Me more of the southern rock and heavier sounds. Smiling ear to ear. Great times! Man I need to send this reaction to Bert I begin to tell myself.
Sorrow yet still smiling a bit, memory of extreme physical pain, shaking like a leaf, crying, as I am going thru colo-rectal cancer treatment when I get the csll. No this can't be, I was just talking to him the other day. Begging my wife to tell me it's not true.
Alas, God had decided that Bert was needed in heaven. Seven years ago a couple of days before Memorial Day my older and only brother was called to Heaven.
Thank you for these memories. The great, the good, the sad. These are what make each of us who we are. Believe me, you have just made a ordinary night better for this old man.

When the day came a few short years ago, I was to overwhelmed to sing, but we did play it. So sorry for your loss, but glad you got to remember the memories. Me too. ❤

Most of the bands I like best are the ones that had multiple songwriters and multiple lead vocalists in the band. I think that always contributed to having a wide variety of sounds and seemed to make most of those bands less one-dimensional and more rounded. Bands like Styx, Eagles, Beatles, Queen, Supertramp, KISS, The Band, Chicago.
