- Residents of Sarasota, Florida, have been impressed with the piano skills of Donald Gould, a homeless man who is living on the streets.
Gould, a 51-year-old Marine veteran, learned to play the piano as a kid and studied music education at Spring Arbor University in Michigan. After his wife passed away in 1998, he developed a substance abuse problem.

This man is a veteran. He served in the marines. Its sad to see how bad our veterans get treated after serving but still yet find a escape no matter the situation. God bless him. I hope he got his life together and dies a happy man.
The streets aren't a safe place for a vet. My dad served 25 years and we fly the flag but he still battles even me, PTSD is no joke, he's a big man and it's up to me from preventing him hurting family members when he go's into an uncontrollable rage. I had to take him down by tackle and ground and pound him. The psychiatrist are slobby and slow and dismissive. But everyday I deal with the consequences of my dad joining a war that injured/incapacitated him.
No help from the government?😢

I was homeless for over a year-and-a-half let me tell you it's not easy and to see the talent in this man is just amazing bless him and I hope he finds his tracks in life

I use to work in a homeless shelter. I had a guy there who use to play piano during the chapel services. He sounded like Mozart. Everyone has a story.

Could be an underlying personality disorder (Borderline Personality Disorder) or addiction (aka Narcissistic Personality Disorder) or even a genuine mental illness like Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia. Also could be PTSD from some kind of trauma.

His name is Donald Gould, a musical professor that fell to tough times. He was later recognized and given a second shot at life from what i last heard cleaned up and began playing in concerts. The song is called "para siempre" or Forever in translation. Several parts of this song are not just cool to hear, but require one hand to play one beat as the second performs a totally different one. Mane people can never duplicate this.. Super cool

10 years ago while driving a cab in Santa Barbara at 3:00 am a homeless man played from classical to contemporary for over an hour, and killed it. No one around, just him and the piano. He looked so happy. Hopefully down but not out.
This is truly the most beautiful story I've heard. @ Cathy, yes he was discovered, he was reunited with his son after 18 years, attended rehab, was asked to plat the National Anthem and now in studios recording. I cried like a baby watching Donald story from beginning to present. Let us not forget it was Donald who put in the hard work in going to rehab. God is good!

America is great, because everybody has the opportunity to do whatever they want. Make as much money as they want, whatever job they want, etc. That makes it the best. The government does provide help, but nobody should depend on the government.

For just a fraction of time in this judgmental world he was able to find comfort and solitude within society, taking himself away from grief and the world aways apart from us in which he lives. Every note plays the story of his life. Like its a trail of bitter sweet memories of his past. Pain is the most colorful picture of an artist, the most beautiful song of a song writer, the most moving music that ever felt..😥
Usually I'm on hard rock music and songs although I did have preference on most heart-warming music that spread stories and meaning. As long as its not christian or love songs, at least songs that perferably have tragic but striking ones is Ok for me.

About five or six years ago, I was very impressed by this video when I was still young, so I remember wearing underclothes at home and playing the same song on the piano for a few days. So nostalgic..

I cry everytime I watch this because I used to watch it before going homeless, soon after I became homeless myself, and then it was me playing the piano as I was homeless myself… but I was playing a shabby verison on one man’s dream, but this…… I wish he found happiness and peace and comfort too in the end.
