No better feeling when your favorite artist's favorite artists are also your favorite artists.
0:55 - "It's so cheap I think Im going to give it to my girlfriend" - Ty Segall, 2012
hahaha...the albums so good that she not gonna care about the comment...lol...
+Miguel Magalhaes Probably actually aha its a great album.
what a lucky girl lol
Reminds me of a Jimmy Carr joke: bought my girlfriend a book, cheap & easy vegetarian cooking, because not only is she a vegetarian...
The way he said my friend Dwyer, hes like yeah, this guy is fuckin nuts
"my buddy dwyer"
ANDREW SALTINO Ty: ya know from THEE OH SEES. you probably never heard of em
XxAirocker08xX as in budd dwyer dawg
and the coachwhips =)
like hes just some random guy
@@XxAirocker08xX HEY! WAVVES!
i am so grateful this man exists
He has awesome taste and yet he isn’t pretentious? Ty Segall is the man!
Hot Rats for a buck? What is this magical place? Also we definitely need a John Dwyer's What's in the Bag.
would be so many strange things and oddities
yes we do need
All the zappa used vinyl cost nothing , I got all size fit from mothers of invention for 4$ in perfect condition
Isnt this amoeba ?
@Michael Tomas i did it in 4.29 seconds, bet u cant do better than that
Such a cool, down to earth guy. LOL I love how he always brings up price
He's probably not as rich as you think
@@SaschaHusenbethHe definitely is pretty damn rich
thats my favorite Zappa song too. the beefheart growl on it makes it 10x better, and the 7 minute guitar solo, holy shit
It actually surprised me a bi9t that Ty hadn't heard much of Bauhaus before. Easily one of my favorite bands since high school
Ty Segall and Thee oh Sees need to tour immediately.
my favorite "whats in my bag" for sureeee
this kid has got great taste! bauhaus, west coast pop art, byrds, flying lizards?! damn. musical soul mate. and he makes kickass music. what a winner!
Segall is definitely into the The Kinks. 2:10 of the first track off his new EP, is identical to the middle part of "Mr. Churchill Says" by The Kinks and the opening of "Feel" from Manipultor by Segall is nearly the same as the opening to "Powerman" by The Kinks. It's really cool, the way he pays tribute to bands that he digs in these little ways.
+SylentEcho what's this song you are talking about (2:10 of the first track...which EP?) ? i'm curious. anyway, nice comment. kinks is one of the best bands ever (and also underrated, in my opinion. they have such awesome songs even before 1967, on their earlier records, for example till the end of the day, all day and all of the night, everybody's gonna me happy, dancing in the street, you shouldn't be sad...). and ty segall is a genius of our generation, maybe one of the few that will left us a legacy (as older artists did, like bowie, lou reed, etc).
marcelo I was talking about the first track of the "Mr. Face" EP by Segall. Ray Davies is one of the top 5 songwriters ever, alongside Brian Wilson and Lennon/McCartney. Kink Kontroversy - Powerman was their best era. All of their early stuff is nothing short of amazing and I can never decide which my favourite Kinks album is from that era. Check out their 1981 album, "Give The People What They Want". It was pretty cool, too.
SylentEcho i love the album Lola vs Powerman. also village green, arthur, face to face...great albums. but my favorite i think is Something Else (especially with the bonus track on the cd reissue). i just don't understand why this album is so underrated. but i must say i haven't heard with attention the records from the late seventies and eighties...i should listen to them. it's because the previous ones are so good...hahah
marcelo Yeah, I agree. Something Else is an awesome album. One of my favourites for sure! Not much of what they did after the 60s was all that great, but there's 3 really good albums; "Give the People what they want", "State of Confusion" and "Muswell Hillbillies". Check those out.
SylentEcho sure, i'll do it! thank you for the tips
i'm strangely disturbed by how i own and love all the albums he picked out...
Ty is a profound musical genius who absorbs musical styles like a sponge....I have no doubt that he could write and perform albums in the style of any of these artists and do it better....It took Brian Wilson 40 years to complete SMILE...Ty and Mikal Cronin could have knocked it out in a month !
100%
Just when I think I can’t love Ty more than I already do. I go and do it xxx
What great taste this dude has. No wonder I love his stuff. Right on, Ty!
This made me so happy, he picked out some of my favorite records. Ty Segall is the bessst maaaaan
never been a big fan of Ty Segall, but he has great taste in music.. Snakefinger!!
Records are so cheap in the states..I'd love to have a shopping spree in Amoeba
Gavin Johnson I live in SF so when I have some extra money I go to amoeba on haight to go all out on buying CD's and records, it's the shit
Gavin Johnson They're like $20 and up usually? They used to be a lot cheaper back in the day... How much are they where you live?
+Gavin Johnson yeah its ridiculous. i would love to visit the US and go to these record stores. in my country LPs are really expensive (for understandable reasons).
+marcelo Exactly what i was thinking, Hot Rats goes for around £50-£80 everywhere i've found it
+Travis Garman new vinyl records here in the UK are usually £15 - £25. sometimes gatefold new releases are even more expensive.
thanks . great great song from great album.
For the most part, yes. We have editors at both the SF and LA stores.
Television Personalities 1st!! And The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band! Hell yeah - this guy has my tastes.
good taste in music!
I'm one of those too. Vinyl is very addictive.
Sharin the passion!
Fucking love The Deviants
"It's so cheap, I think I'm going to give it to my girlfriend" spoken like a real man.
lmfao
i love Ty so much
Hot Rats is a masterpiece.
So is On the Corner :)
I'm ashamed to say that I'm yet to hear it, lol. Just loved the artwork the moment I saw it.
damn.... lol for a second there, I thought "What's In My Bag" was a cool song a lot of different artists were doing cover versions of... I get it now. :)϶
Why do you have a scrotum underneath your smiley face?
This man is amazing.
Easily my fav series on YT
By Far the Coolest Choices You Sir are Legend
Guy is a legend

swell maps, fuck yeah Ty. didnt expect that for some reason
I like how he's "embarrassed" that he's never heard Bauhaus. That album was a good choice!
great taste!
Excelente gusto musical el de Ty Segall.
Ty's the man !
I thought I was the only person who bought a west coast pop art experimental band record
I love musicians who appreciate other musicians. Ty's taste is too close to mine and basically he was looking for records i have owned for decades. On top of that he seems to be a great guy with alot to say/sing. He has definitely got my attention...
Ty segall and Andrew savage both picking Jane from occupied Europe is awesome
Great taste!
Ty is the fucking man.
If you're insinuating he's just showing off for the camera, I'd have to disagree. It's obvious some people on whats in my bag do it, but I think he's pretty genuine here.
Él realmente es muy tierno.
YAY as my reaction too
i met the drummer for snake finger two years ago at a carwash for my high school band. he saw my friends and i playing the drums and gave a 40 dollar donation lol
West Cost Pop Art Experimental Band & Ptooff!...nice finds
"Never got around to buying this because it's on the pricier side" - have to respect him for being a cheapskate. Good record too.
This stuff definitely influenced Emotional Mugger and his more psych rock/Zappa sound on his self-titled album/Freedom Band records. Pretty cool
Thank you kindly
The Deviants - Ptooff!
yeah! oh sees episode!
Great picks👍
"Hot rats", real nice record. "Willie the pimp" rocks.
My favorite snowboarder and my favorite musician look like twins.
Travis Rice and Ty Segal.
I wish there would be such a store anywhere near my home or near my country
The swell maps ❤
just grabbed his solo album.
I have this strange feeling that Ty and myself have similar tastes in music.
Same here.
this dude is like the second coming
lord of this world
Great taste dude
Ty Segall is a Swell Maps fan!
Take note, you TH-cam viewers, and ye also, ye wider world ye. Verily this man IS the Kwisatz Haderach of alternative music.
Zappa so good
tvp and flying lizards! damn nice selections indeed!
YES I LOVE SNAKEFINGER!
fuck yeah residents
He's already discussed the bag he's in. Now, it's time for what's in HIS bag.
best whats in the bag
It's called Zelda. It's a demo Pete made in 1981 while making demos for the Who's Face Dances album. It's actually not on the album Ty's got there, Ty's got Pete's second demo collection called Another Scoop. Zelda is on the first volume, just called Scoop.
Thanks mate!
I have been waiting for this day! Hopefully one day Thee Oh Sees will have a WIMB.
it's just oh sees now
This is ty segall and this is whats in my bag ahhh....yeah :D
About time
"uhh yeah" best intro
Nice picks Ty
God The Byrds are great.
hell yeah that JPD shoutout
this cat has got it together, some good choices!
Hey man, I liked that song too. Had a quick search for it and it's called 'Smell of Incense', if you haven't already found it.
i didnt know him,but he said willie the pimp was his favorite zappa song, and i like him already.
Great music he picked there. All this psych is a side he explored on his recent collaboration, it seems.
YES BEST BYRDS RECORD even if it does have a ton of covers
Ty Segall "You're the Doctor"
Hey,I've got the Flying Lizards record! , kinda forgot, i haven't played it years, i'm gonna go home and throw it on the turntable, thanks Ty! i wonder what it's going for these days..hmm.. not that i'd ever sell it...but i might...anyway...back to work ..

FUCK YEA TY U JUST GOT 1 MILLION PERCENT BETTER WHEN U SAID HOT RATS IS ONE OF YOUR FAVES
Fuck yes, "Helicopter Spies" and "Willie the Pimp".
