Thanks for the inspiration. Im quite new with just over 5 hours. And I've seen some crazy stuff already. Thanks for keeping it a "normal" so to speak haha
Good luck and have fun! The game is endless hours of entertainment if you enjoy building things. Take it at your own pace and don't worry too much about what/how others build or say you should. As long as you're having fun, you're doing it right.
mate one of the cloaking device i will be adding is(there like little smoke pellets ,cakes great for landing under fire fighthing dark co;ours r good red smoke when they come down to check out ya damage you fly out shooting.
We did quite a few 1v1 dogfights with it and found that (with good flying) it could run out of ammunition before you shot each other down. It's hard to score a lot of critical hits because the front is rather tanky and you're almost always facing each other. In large group battles where you could get surrounded it was better. Many of the ships were downed because someone crashed into the ground while trying to shake multiple followers, or while chasing (which was funny). To reduce the likelihood of running out of ammo before being shot down we changed all the gatlings to autocannons. This meant you need to hit the same spot less often to break blocks, which resulted in more people being shot down. It reduces your overall firing time though, so it changed the strategy from firing constantly to only when you're pretty sure you will score hits. Overall a healthy change. The auto cannons are also much more satisfying to listen to. The only downside is that the two positioned in front of the cockpit obscure your view while firing if you're in first person.
This build also inspired entire set of small combat ships. Here they are: (The Raven is my favorite.) steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2932233902
I've used it a bit in survival, the connector and cockpit hold enough ammo to last through most fights. The ship tends to get shot down (or shoot down its target) before I run out.
I'm planning to put together a shipbuilding basics video, it's always a tad confusing for new players and it's very easy to overcomplicate the problem.
I have a version that uses autocannons instead of gatlings, but I've found that having 3+ different types of guns is less fun for me, and less functional.
@@ShiftyshadowTV makes sense, whatever works best for you of course. I personally liked the way those different weapon systems looked. But functionality is important! Lol.
Low cost and looks like it would be fun to fight with especially if we are just going to be doing dog fights.
Yup, should be easy to print up a bunch of these, and I think they're pretty well balanced for what we'll be doing.

I would also add light armor plates just to add some protection around the battery but that I a great design as is
Thanks, adding some plates isn't a bad idea, I'll look into it.
Pretty nice Shifty! I like the thrusters in the wings idea!
Thanks, it really tucks them away nicely. Took me forever to get a wing shape I liked though.
i replaced the armour plating on the top and bottom of the wing with solar panels and it works like a charm =)
Captain Sparrow Fighter, that is.
XD didn't even think of that. Might have to change the name.

Interesting, what happens if they target lock you?
@@ShiftyshadowTV im not that high tec my friend, setting off a smoke bomb by remote control is as far as my brain can do.self taught.
mine are real drones
The big gun could B used for stationary targets & the gats for dogfighting, specialization.
I've found that I usually swap the gatlings for autocannons in my survival playthroughs. They seem to work better for me against most targets.
Great vid!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Workshop version of this ship has been updated a few times, nothing major.
Did this turn out well? Or did it need an overhaul to be better balanced/fun?

@@ShiftyshadowTV from what I've seen auto cannons seem much more effective against lightly armored targets. That makes sense.
I’m so bad at making fighters and any large grid ship, large (small grid) ships though, I am great at, same with rovers
Nice. Everyone has things they're good, and bad, at. Large small-grid ships are some of my favorite.
If it's for survival I think you'll want at least one small cargo container for reloads

Just got this game, kinda confusing with the mechanics so far on what you need for a ship haha.

The mirror thing was messing with me hard. Couldnt tell what the peices looked like at
mate u can get these smoke cakes that u heat up by rc and no one will be fo;;owing u they cant see ,it works great.i love red and blue smoke.
How to build from both sides at the same time?
If you mean the mirroring, and you're paying on PC, N and M are the hotkeys to toggle it on and off, and set the planes you want to mirror across.
Not as sparkly as mine.
Very true.
Hi can you build a Coloration ship
Not sure what you mean, but probably.
Kamikaze?
Im just sad you took the autocannons and arty off.
