hands down: the best photoshop tutorial I have ever seen! Most tutorials for low poly editing suggest methods which take up to 4 hrs for one photo. This method here cuts this down at least in half Thank you for sharpening my skills!
I never comment on tutorials, but this was exceptionally well made. It was clear, precise, and straight to the point, and I didn't scim through as per usual, faffing around to get the parts I want. Thanks!
I've seen quite a few tutorials on these low poly vectors before; this one is by far the best! I also love how you can do everything in Photoshop with it! I prefer Photoshop to Illustrator. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
This is the best tutorial in ALL the TH-cam videos. THANK YOU -- I am so very happy I watched yours first BEFORE anyone else. You earned a SUB from me!
PROBLEMS WITH CTRL+J ? [I fixed it by right clicking on the background layer thumbnail first, then select the option called "click thumbnails to layer bounds".] - Hugo Violet THIS WORKED FOR ME. i started out with my face and it worked fine. took about 2 hours but mine was a little more detailed. great tut. thanks!
If you're still having issues with cmd-J, this is how I fixed it. 1) Right click the thumbnail (little picture) on the background layer and click "Clip Thumbnails to Layer Bounds" (you might have to create another layer, and then click on the background layer thumbnail, for this option to show up). This will make the polygon layer thumbnail show up like in the video. 2) Make a polygon with the lasso tool and hit "cmd-j". 3) With the new layer selected, hold "cmd" and click on the thumbnail of the new layer. This should select the polygon. 4) Now click Filter > Average.
nice tut. I spent the weekend working on it (I'm kinda OCD so it took time to make it "perfect"!) Shared the tut with my students who are now working away on it too.
thank you so much man, i was freaking out about a low poly art project using photopea (bootleg free online photoshop). i forgot how to fill correctly. had to look up like 6 videos before finding this.
sangat teliti dan begitu mencerahkan... it helps me out when I am having an issue of editting photo in photoshop with polygonal tools instead using corel draw for similar result
try-angles heh but thanks. I have learned a lot about photoshop functions. Truth be said, this would be easier and faster with illustrator, but thanks to your method you have explored possiblities I have not seen in PS
Having 25+ years in 3D animation, I'd use the free FaceBuilder plugin for Blender to create the face and texture it, then use the decimate command. It would take about 30 secs and be renderable at print res from many angles and 3D printable too! :o)
FX - Ray Please, help. When I press the comand j button it duplicates the selections but deselect it after there's a new layer. then because i guess its not selected the average turns it the whiteish color. Please get back to me on this. Thanks
Translatoryka Angielska i spent hours with trying to figure this out .. i ended up -while recording the action- manually copying and pasting the selection !!on the same (background copy) layer!! (this automatically pastes the selection onto a new layer) and also manually reselect the previous selection (the one that disappeared) with cmd/ctrl+shift+d !!on the newly created layer .. then comes the 'blur - avarage' hope this helped
Great Tutorial, I have been wanting to do this for a while especially in Photoshop. To start off with I had the problem with the polygon turning white, but I had to hold CMD (Ctrl if windows) on the layer of the duplicated poly, which then gave me the poly but selected as well, then it worked completely fine! Once again amazing tutorial keep it up :D -Unikx
