- Liszt Transcendental Étude No. 12 in Bb Minor "Chasse-neige"
Performed by Vyacheslav Gryaznov
"Chasse-neige" is the last etude in the S.139 set. The piece features tremolos as the main focus, with wide jumps and fast chromatic scales as secondary challenges. Lastly, the etude itself begins softly in tone, and slowly builds up to a powerful climax - similar to the fall of snow, turning from flurries to a storm. Hence the name of the piece "chasse-neige," translates to "snow whirls." The piece ranks as one of the most difficult, with a 9 out of 9 difficulty by publisher G. Henle Verlag.

Can we just stop and consider how someone was able to compose a piece like this and that someone else could perform it in this way?
I find myself doing that at least once a month whenever I discover yet another top-calibre piece in a top-calibre performance.
This is by far the best piece I've ever heard. It sounds like many pianos playing at the same time and gives me chills each time I listen to it.
I always say the moment at 0:36 is like the music that plays when your soul leaves the body
listem to more music then
Woah... The part with the chromatic scales... (2:51 - 3:28) sounds like the wind murmuring ... I'm aware that's the impression Liszt wanted to give, but this gives me literal chills. Thank you, Mr. Kozlowski, for uploading this video.
My absolute pleasure. Thank you for listening :)
Music on another level.
A este estudio lo llaman "Elliot Ness"...¡EL INTOCABLE! Qué prodigio este tipo, no sólo Liszt sino además el que lo interpretó!!!!! Un genio!!!!!

Three Sonatas No 8 Op 67-John Xiamo
It is very necessary that you listen to Claudio Arrau and then write what you want
Great point! Undoubtedly one of the greatest interpreters of Liszt.
