@@joshjo9405 no, the fact it wasn't high enough was the primary thing, that kind of massively expensive civic improvement usually just can't happen unless half your city has just been leveled. I don't know if a bomb really fits, despite some unique textures and brick work, neither secret area has any indicators of a big explosion or previous charring. Given that this is the sort of world where oxygen is produced mostly or entirely by inorganic means, I think it's safe to assume they melted their icecaps.

Someone mentioned that part of the sarcophagus looks like the DJ's mask. Not only that, but one of the Old Ones mention the mask was worn by Felix, and implies that the mask is dangerous.
Seriously hoping its a sequel. Dlc just wouldnt scratch my itch for more of this game. Especially after what could almost be considered a sequel bait from the ending with what dj says.
I think it's an early concept for what they decided to use as the pyramid island maze. But they decided to scrap it. (Which is why there are no graffiti spots or collectibles there.) They most likely left it in as a fun area to explore for the fans that liked exploring. (Like they left in the wallride glitch). Either that or it would be too tedious to remove the assets.
it's a cocoon though dj cyber has the mask now, it seems to be leaning to something bug adjascent. dj cyber has 6 discs, 6 eyes, and a spider-like vehicle. (cyber also rhymes with spider funny enough)
Also unrelated but I made the connection that both this one and the pyramid island one are locked behind the oldheads, and I can’t shake the thought that there could be more locations hidden behind other oldheads. Does anyone know?
I wonder if this is connected to the long drop in the maze of pyramid island after you get 200 REP for the Oldheads. It's very similar, not as huge. Makes me wonder if there is 1 like this in every main level has something like this.
I feel like all of this points to New Amsterdam being built on top of the old Amsterdam, the Oldhead’s comment about running in the old Amsterdam back in the day, the drop in the maze, this hidden area beneath Versum Hill, like the place was abandoned and when people returned they built on top of the well preserved ruins

There's another secret in the pyramid island maze area. Jump into the hole when you reach the giant penguin.
