    First let me compliment you on your tee shirt...I'm going to have to dis-agree a little on the rear vs front suspension mods, I think the rear is so bad replacing the stock springs AND getting rid of the blocks should be done first...with the rear chattering around at times and a lot of axle wrap on my 18' the rear spring replacement was paramount. And the Live Valve shocks go full firm anytime they lose power, that is their default setting..so if a cable gets ripped of while off road that shock is going full firm.

      Titantramp4u I think we are on the same page then. My comment about the front is if you upgrade the back, you need to plan some kind of spring upgrade up front. I found this out the hard way on my 17. Back was way too stiff for the very soft front end and I lawn-darted when the back end bucked. The Live valve can compensate somewhat, but eventually as you start going faster, problems will come up.

    I noticed this on some of the trucks when I was at the Raptor performance driving school.

      Yeah. Stock these trucks are setup to favor pavement driving and the stock springs reflect it

    I think your choice on front springs is an interesting choice. Sounds like it could be best choice with the live valve set up, due to the live valves stiffening up when needed . And the Geiser springs sound better for the shocks without the live valve due to the dual rate spring. Would be interesting to here the results. Different springs due to which stock shocks ? Looking forward to your opinion after install.

      David Jordan I’ve ran the eibachs now for 2 weeks and just barely broke them in. I was assuming the same results but I have not seen it yet. I will be doing a full review video showing benefits and drawbacks but right now it looks like the shocks don’t play too much of a role. Eibachs are more tuned for street driving and Geisers are tuned for off-road driving.

      Check out my latest video on spring upgrades for Raptor. Basically, we’ve seen so many failures, that we don’t recommend spring upgrades anymore on the Raptor if you plan to do any off-roading.

    you should measure from the center of the wheel/hub to fender opening on a level surface .

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M Sobecki that won’t work. Tires wear and the fenders move a lot and warp. Best measurements are from the frame down.

    So is it the combo of the springs plus the live valve that causes the problem? Maybe SVT can chime in on what they know or have seen?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      b pospolyta it’s a problem on the 17s too. The springs are way too soft and can’t handle much of anything in the bed. The problem is made worse with the Live Valves. Back don’t settle until you put weight in the back and once you do, the springs can’t handle it offroad. SVT don’t do Raptors anymore and it’s part of Ford Performance now and they will tell you the truck was built to be good all around. Offroad was not the only focus and that’s why the choice of springs

    I would first like to say thank you for your very informative videos they have been a life saver during this 19 quarantine .
    I just sold my 14 Raptor and I am awaiting the delivery of my new 20, which has been delayed another two weeks because of factors closers so I have been following your channel very closely.
    My first mod for my new build is to replace my rear springs and new coils up front. I’ve done some research and I’m going with Deaver leafs in the rear but I’m very conflicted as to the front coils. Eibach or giser “ wrong spelling “ and linear or progressive would appreciate it if you could shed some light on the subject for me.
    Again thanks for the great content.
    Ricardo

      Richard Brambila I plan on releasing a video on that subject. Had too many tell me the eibachs are great. But I had not seen many off-roaders run them. I ran the Geisers on my last truck and just barely broke in my eibachs. Plan on doing a few more trails and then doing a review. But it s coming down to what’s your primary purpose. Off-roading or street?

      I just moved from So. Cal. Claremont to a smallish town in Utah. I do a lot of hunting and exploring in my new state. I am five minutes from the Unita mountains and hundreds of miles of dirt roads. I would lean towards off road performance and give up on some highway comfort.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Richard Brambila if your down by heavy off-roading and high speed trails, Geisers are better. For more street and slow stuff, under 40, the eibachs are better. I’ll put a full video review with all the reasons why and benefits and drawbacks in a few weeks

    Thx, did you have the Geiger springs up front on the last system? If so that would be a comparison. I am a Gen 1 owner and looking to upgrade my 10 year old suspension at a budget so I will be watching this future upgrade. P.S. - watched all your other upgrade videos on the previous raptor.

      John Gordon I will have a review video coming up talking about the benefits and drawbacks of both the Geisers and Eibachs . I’ve only had the eibachs on for 2-3 weeks. Barely just broke them in, in Baja. need some more trail time with them to give a fair review so hopefully soon I’ll have a video up with a review

      Basically I want to off road but I won't be doing any whoops fast anyways. I do enjoy off-roading but I tend to be conservative about it and my Ultimate goal is to go Overlanding alot when I retire.
      So after all my research so far I'm leaning towards Eibachs up fron and Deaver's +3 in the rear.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sixshooter4570 If your not going fast and keep it under 50 offroad, you will be fine with the Eibachs. But for faster off-roading, the Geisers are better and help protect the truck from those surprise washes by not letting it bottom out. but +3 Seaver's are not enough to deal with the height.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad

      That block is factory. Once you upgrade the leaf pack, a block is replaced by the taller leaf pack and a block should NOT be used at all.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      frank for they do, but they want you to buy the factory series shocks that come with them🤷‍♂️. At the end of the day, upgrading the shocks is a cheat to pre-load the suspension up front. So the proper solution is a new shocks and spring package designed to work with each other to get the most use of suspension travel.

    They gotta have a kit from the factory or something that is for the real offroaders, I get that they cant make every raptor actually really ready for offroading because the mall crawlers wouldnt buy them or at least they would complain about the ride quality or some bullshit, but ford could do so much more if they just didnt hold back

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andy Brooks Ford has to make the truck that’s an all around drivable truck. 90% of Raptors are status symbols and won’t see any off-roading. I get a lot of those guys trying to tell me how I should do my build.
      Fox does make the Factory series that improve offroad manners and add adjustability. Then you have to hit up the shops like RPG, SVC, HM to start adding functionally. But once you start upgrading, the on road manners of the truck are impacted. More noise, more chatter, more creaks, more body roll, less MPGs. And you pavement princess don’t like all that. In its stock form the Raptor is a great compromise. It’s also a good way to get more people into off-roading.
