i really liked the 'messy' commentary ! it can be so discouraging when art commentary makes the artist feel like they're so far above the viewer, it makes me feel like a kid aspiring to be a god LOL. it was a lot of fun to listen to and watch while drawing along, it makes my own mistakes and the things i dont like about my _own_ art feel less like the end of the world, knowing artists i like dont _always_ create things they're super happy with either
I've seen so many really-really boring, lengthy art videos on youtube. This is definitely NOT one of them. Instead this is inspiring, motivating and encouraging. I love what you are doing.
it broke my heart when you said you thought we might find this video boring because i loved this video :( i was literally in awe of every drawing you made (the old and new ones) because it is so insightful seeing how your skill and style have changed. please give yourself more credit this was probably incredibly long and tiresome to make but i enjoyed every second of it!!!
✨✨"sorry if I'm boring y'all" dude i was HYPNOTIZED watching you draw in fast motion, and watching these awesome art piece emerge from a blank page. extreme talent and i love the style!! ✨✨
In 10:53 with the wonky face redrawn that you did in red, I kept thinking it looked like a pot, if you drew funky flowers or plants growing out the top of the head, it would look so cool and cute
I can see you were already special 10 years ago, but what I truly admire is the amount of effort you must have been putting on to your work since then. The progress is amazing.
You have helped me pick up the art supplies and start drawing again. Your attitude and effortless creativity, the way you just DO IT! No over thinking, just pure expression. It's something I've lost along the way and am trying to get back. Your videos have really helped me alot! I adore this channel!🖤
The “musty” face, as you called it, (14:47) reminds me a lot of Edward Herrmann, who played Herman Munster, in the great tv show, The Munsters! Loved your sketch book! This would be a fun thing for us to watch you go through them! Maybe once a month, because it’s time consuming for you, or twice a month. I just don’t want you overworked, you have too much more to show us of your talent and teach us how to let go of our own art insecurities that gets in the way of creativity! Stay juicy!👍🏽😎
Your style is just so iconic i feel like I'd recognize it 10 years from now. Honestly the commentary was just so honest and organic, I really enjoyed it.
It's so good to see artists pull out their old sketchbooks like this, sometimes I feel embarrassed for having old books full of unfinished or 'bad' drawings that never went anywhere, or were from different times in my life when I was into things that I feel a bit embarrassed about now - sometimes I'd be so embarrassed that I would put the book away and buy a brand new one. It's really cool that you're so easily able to look at those ideas and reinterpret them into a definitive style or artistic identity you have today. I've done a couple of drawings like this (from b&w sketches into larger, full colour works) in the past year or two, and my issue was always wondering if I could. I realised that the big barrier for me was feeling like I had to do it within a certain amount of time, as though a good artist was able to finish their work within a day or two, but now that I speak to more people, I know that their personal projects might sit on the shelf for months or years.
this wasnt boring at all! i was so entertained by your commentary and editing, and most importantly the art itself, its so satisfying seeing you shade the face and draw without erasing
I am so happy to have found you. Your personality is fire, your style has blown my limbs off. I love this video and look forward to viewing more of your content. Keep growing, keep it up.
not boring at all! This kind of video is great for inspiration if you are feeling like you are in a creative funk! I have old sketch books and art work that I always review and say to myself that I would do it so differently now... well, I never though about redoing them. Thanks for this!
Juicy video! Loved the commentary and the drawing. It’s super relatable, enlightening and humorous to hear your inner critic! Funny and relatable. I love that you fall in love with a few of your drawings. Again, very relatable! I’m so glad I found your channel. Juicy! Juicy! Juicy!
Not boring at all. Loved this video. Made me wish I had my sketchbooks from like 20+ years ago and could redraw all that stuff. Be a good way to reconnect with yourself as a young artist.
Love your commentary! And the way you speak,.. I found myself calm and almost fell asleep but not because you’re boring! I forced myself to stay up till the end because I couldn’t miss a second of it!
love the longer video!! im always left craving more of you when it’s over!!! also while like, yeah dont talk bad abt yourself, i find it kind of relieving. like of all the artists i follow, they rarely share their insecurities about their works and you sharing that makes me feel better about feeling it myself. like no of course not every work is great. yes even the pros who post flawless piece after piece have really shitty times when drawing. idk, thank you
Your vids are NEVER boring and I would totally love to see more of your old sketchbooks if you wanted to share😊💜 even though these had to be rushed they turned out great and was vvv enjoyable to watch! This is a great practice; reconnecting with your younger artist self and compare how your style has changed. Could be a fun way to warm up or work through some art block. Loved this and thanks for sharing/being vulnerable💕💜💕
No, this wasn't boring at all. It was hilarious and very interesting. But "pick up a pencil and do something today" ? No. Not happening. I watch artists do art on TH-cam when I'm too lazy to do art myself. Your skill blossomed and your own style developed but what's really awesome was how great your art was in your freshman year of high school. In my freshman year of high school art, my stick figures looked like stroke victims.
I loved this video - artists showing their progress are my favourites! It’s inspiring to see how much a person can grow xx And daaammmnn - some of those drawings were amazing! And the detailed with the pen ones! BUT also love your current style too xx such fun and beautiful colouring xxx
Thank you for making me smile for the first time in so long. Onnthe verge of ending it all for a while now and you bring me a lot of joy. Thank you black bean x
I actually really enjoyed this video and your take on your old drawings! It was cool to see how far your art has changed since high school. Thank you for uploading ❤️
your art is so fantastic and creative, im TRULY INFURIATED that it took this long to find it. but yes uh yeah!! i found myself disagreeing with you a lot because pErSonally i LOVED all your remakes! they were all so funky and creative, i would've never guessed you rushed them. i appreciate you sticking with this idea, the video was QUITE inspiring for me, so thanks :)))
Not bored AT ALL! I would love to see you flip through more of your sketch books. Believe it or not I stopped the video and drew some of your old drawings and re-makes. I still haven’t finished drawing your sketchbook but I am working my way through it! I am always looking to change up what and how I draw and this was so helpful and so fun. I really love drawing along with you. I also love the Picassoy and cubisty drawings.
Literally so glad this video randomly popped up in my recommended. I'm OBSESSED with your style, and your commentary was very endearing and relatable as someone who never knows what to say about their art lmao
14;41 ... Plea s e stop doubting yourself. ... This was highly interesting and restorative to my faith in art. I love your works. Musty was the perfect word.
I like these videos because it shows where your style started from. I love where your style has gone with the exaggerated features. I don’t know why I thought it would be funny if you did a video kind of like a crime lab sketcher but the drawings came out with your exaggerated features.
sooooo cool!!! very outstanding the super quickly way you form and perform the idea, like, almost instantly! i get chocked by each new drawing, simply perfect. a real artist!! :O
Again, I am so IMPRESSED with your growth!!!! Congratulations on your discipline to keep up the practice!! Can not wait for your next 10 year progress review!!
I love the commontery on this video, plus that last drawing, the one of yoursel, was fantastic! And the hair came out brilliant Beanie. God bless you and your family.
When I was in art school 50 years ago nobody was allowed to sketch from photographs. We HAD to sketch from REAL LIFE. Real places, real people, real objects, real animals, real buildings. We really had to spend time looking at and trying over and over to train our eyes and hands/arms to work together. It can take a long time but it's worth it.... and it really does upgrade your confidence the more you draw ! You don't need a reference picture, look around you and draw what you see in real life !!!!! Your work will be less flat and two dimensional, and your skill will be more versatile and independent !! 📝👁👁📘🖍
I loved your re-draws, they are absolutely amazing! I laugh each time you make the noise when you use the color green (my favorite color!). Thank you for a fun video ... do.more of these! 😍🔥❤️💙🎉💜😄
I love the skill evolution from years ago until now, proving a good point for new artists….PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE… your art is timeless and a beautiful contribution to the art community. I just want to say thank you for making me want to do art again, this has been 3 plus years from graffiti, tattooing, clay, painting, drawing, i have six large moving boxes of srt supplies relaxing away.. all that to roofing houses. NOT THE GRINCH WITH NO HAIR.
Going through your old sketchbook and saying, "what the hell is that" is so relatable.
this needs to be the top comment xD too true
Honestly i be goin thru my current one sayin that😭💀

I agree, I love the seemingly unedited rambling because that’s what my head sounds like when I’m making art too.
YEAH THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING TOO! it made me feel human lmao idk how to describe it
@@JDLandscapePainter same lmaoo so enjoying to watch

That's pathetic lol
This wasn’t boring at all. It was fun to see the evolution of your style.

this was super entertaining! don't talk so bad about yourself, this video was awesome
It's crazy how his art went from realism to surrealism, it's like he went from (in)sane to crazy
picaso moment
literally the story of picasso

It was Fred Gwynne who played Herman Munster
It reminded me to Bruce Willis, but it would say musty was the right word
I love your commentary 🤣 it makes the videos 10xs better IMO
People will appreciate and relate to genuine every time. Really happy they see that in you and give you the love you deserve
