      @Boosted Media You had mentioned in your review an option of mounting aluminum profile lengths for greater rigidity and unlimited left to right placement due to the slots, but I am curious what length you would want to cut these to and how to best mount? Would you want the profile piece mounted on top of the existing rails using elbow brackets front and rear or try and cut to exact length so it falls nicely between the two existing pedal rails. Thanks for any help, new to aluminum profile building.

      My big tip with this is: if you're on carpet, omit the feet on the bottom rails. It decreases wobble and helps with the rigidity.

    Good to hear about the clean extrusions. It boggles my mind how companies let them go out the door with shavings everywhere. It takes 5 minutes to wash them off. I used to work in a machine shop and those chips get EVERYWHERE. And it really would suck for people on carpet. Thankfully I’m on concrete, but I did the cleaning myself when I’ve received profiles in the past anyway. The only place I have gotten clean extrusions from is an industrial supply place that carries some aluminum profiles and hardware.

    This is the first rig I ever build as I was confined to a wheelstand for more than a decade, did it in a couple of hours, instructions are fool proof and everything fitted nicely together. Also having all the screws labeled helps a ton. Perfect first time rig and very happy with the purchase!

    The angled profile is an immediate no-buy signal for me. As is the angled profile for the integrated monitor stand. I know this is something NLR consider their signature style but it gives away rigidity. I worked with a buddy on his NLR rig to stiffen it; it cost over £100 in extra brackets and £130 in custom profile pieces to make it as rigid as my own rig. I won't mention where I bought mine in case anyone thinks I am writing an advert. Overall, I would never by NLR. Even their most expensive rig is still a wobble-fest.

  • @brulaapgaapmeester8052
    @brulaapgaapmeester8052 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My rig does just about everything this one does, but since it is made with a lot less steel (it's from around 2005, you could call it a 'classic' rig) it flexes quite a bit more than this one. Now that Will suggested that you might call that 'authentic', from now on I'll call it a feature. Classic cars flex more than modern ones too. ;-)
    But on a more serious note, if I were to upgrade to a different rig, flex would be one of the things I would look at, and this one may have a bit too much of it. Still a great rig though, but it is always nice to have alternatives in the same price range.

    quick feedback on their logistics: good unless you pre-order something to be soon released, the demand for sim racin hardware is still much higher than supply, at least for such new products, so expect to wait a couple of months more than promised to receive the goods, as they have to be first send to your local distributor/seller. All is good once the stock is actually avaiable, but not gonna lie, NLR wheel stand 2.0 initially only gave me grief, and eneded up being the very last piece of gear to be delivered which was unfortunate as I could not start the assembly without it.
    Pretty common with logistics in those times, but keep that in mind if you are planning your big hollidays around receiving those products like I did.

    Thanks for the review! I eventually decided on F-GT Elite. Since it’s probably the last rig I buy for the foreseeable future, I want no compromises this time, so GT Elite using profiles with much thinner internal structure really puts me off. I wish NLR could make the GT Elite a non-compromising downgrade to F-GT Elite, I know it sounds contradicting, but what I meant is essentially F-GT Elite with a non-switchable seating position, which is what NLR wants people to believe, but as this review tells, it's not, the price gap is no joke.
    I'm currently using Wheel Stand 2.0 & GT seat add-on, it's $150 cheaper than GTTrack, and that absolutely showed during the time I've been using this combo. It doesn't have the caster wheels ($50), the seat belts ($?, not that I really need), and most importantly the pedal tray has a different and a structurally much weaker pedal tray. Honestly, I decided to upgrade solely thanks to the frustrating pedal tray! This experience makes me especially skeptical about GT Elite's upgrade path, I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

  • @DavelSaverage

    Can you confirm the profile is different between the gt and f-gt versions and it’s not just a blanket change in profile for all NLR rigs? Will new f-gt rigs sold still have the thicker profile? Seems weird for NLR to have 2 different profiles for nearly identical rigs…

  • @SN3Gaming_

    While I do enjoy my TR120. They made the assembly very challenging, not to mention I got a ton of incompatible t-nuts, and had to buy my own parts as well, not to mention the lack of measuring items especially on the monitor mounts. Part of me wishes I went to Next Level as that was my second choice.

  • @Fred_Bassett

    If you have the new buttkicker pro, it won't go were where the buttkicker mounting post is. It's too big and you won't get the seat to slide back as the BK hits the inside of the frame. I moved my mount to the back frame of the fgt elite and had it pointing up. It works great

  • @samgao
    @samgao ปีที่แล้ว

    took me about 12 hours to assemble and configure start to finish. about 3 hours on the first day (about 50% done) and then 7 hours the next to install the seats and the wheels and micro adjusting them to the way I like. My ESR1 came semi-damaged: the Rails did not move smoothly and to mount them to the right was not the most thought out when designing this rig.

  • @supercededman
    @supercededman 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Will (or readers!), a quick, dumb question. I noted that NLR's specs state the width of the rig is EITHER 70cm or 84cm. I gather the shifter mount is the reason, being an option fitment.
    I need to move my rig through a doorway (80cm, I t hink!), and am wondering if the shifter plate could be mounted on the inside of the rig, even on the vertical beams to which the wheel plate is mounted, but obviously lower than the wheel.
    I have a G Pro, and have used paddle shifters to this point, seeing as I don't have the option for a good shifter yet, and the handbrake COULD be mapped to one of the analog paddles of my wheel (not a bad option now that I think of it).
    EDIT: I was thinking that WIll's (valid) criticism of the shifter mount not matching the frame profile if mounted to the (outside) left position may be overcome if it is mounted on the inside. Obviously, space is the consideration, but if viable, this option may feel more natural for drivers of RHD vehicles (like here in Oz - I'm in Melbourne, BTW). :-)
    Advice will be appreciated.

    Hey Will, great review as always! I have a question: Could you guys take a look at the Motedis DD-Dream and S-Dream rigs please? I own a DD-Dream myself and I‘d love to see your take on it. It‘s by no means the best rig out there nor the best designed one, but I heard that they supply Sim-Lab with their profiles, which gave me some confidence about their rigidity. The main selling point for me was that it was 417€ including shipping (I know it‘s more now due to increased aluminium costs) and at the time it was cheaper and IMO more solid than the competing GT1-EVO from Sim-Lab. Cheers BM crew!

    I’m not in the market for a cockpit, aluminium profile doesn’t suit my current need. But I don’t understand offering a different aluminium profile and fragmenting parts compatibility within the product range, leading to the T-Nut compatibility issue. I’d rather spend the extra $250 on the F-GT.

    i bought the tr120 just after you reviewed it, previously had the gtomega prime but sold that when i gave up sim racing for a bit, getting back into it yeh i purchased the tr120 and its been really good but i know what you mean when talking about metal shavings, that shit was everywhere and its really quite nasty stuff so simple things like not having to deal with that when unboxing do go a long way, i also had a bitch of a time with the seat slider for one reason or another, besides that yeh its solid, simucube 2 pro using the front mount trak racer offers and it looks really nice with the red accents.
    i can see where the next level racing stuff come across more premium, they seem to get the little details right, user experience looks a bit nicer but that flex is just something i would hate, once i know its there id be pulling it to and throw all the time in frustration and probably going around all the bolts once a week checking for tightness, i just wouldn't like that at all.
