You guys each deserve a medal ! Out of all the detecting videos that I ve seen, I have never seen such effort and dedication to detecting under such conditions as this. Amazing guys! I hope you continue to enjoy it, I can tell you are all commited enthusiasts
I can watch that all day long.
If Garrett made a sand scoop as good as the pro pointer in quality, i would be a happy camper!
Hi guys, try to use ......strong magnet!!!! You may find some new stufff. It was used in other plces in Poland, Russia and it works!!!
A water proof pro-pointer in bright orange....Would be a huge seller I bet!!
you know what, I dont care if any of these videos are fake or not, its fun and cool to watch
It doesn't look like Steve waterproofed his . . . ?? Of course, I would assume he has access to an unlimited supply. ;o) Suggestion - Garrett needs to come up w/a waterproof version of the Pro Pointer. I tried another brand, but didn't like it at all. The Garrett Pro Pointer has spoiled me. I also own the AT Pro and a buddy and I have had it out in the river once with some initial success. Great video!
Great video guys, I felt like I was sitting on the bank just watching you all enjoy yourselves.
Beau is one of my favourite detectorists
Civil war soldiers were running around and marching constantly, so they did often drop things, especially bullets. In a steep and hard to navigate area such as a creek/river where they were, it was much easier to drop things. Also, soldiers dropped items when they died :\ so that's how they got dropped. The stuff like that bent barrel were most likely just discarded in the river since it wasn't of much use anymore.
Relaxing, peaceful, interesting, and smart video. Thanks guys...
Hey well done fellas, longest video i've watched on you tube and enjoyed every minute of it. i have only recently begun detecting and looking at the history here in Darwin, Northern Territory.
Unfortunately we are very young when compared to your history, but i still enjoy the hunt. Hope to get over that way one day.
cheers.
@stonewallbook Waterproof version would be really really good!!
This is SO COOL. Looks like lots of fun.
Really enjoyed this, I agree the person with the camera did a fantastic job!
10 out of 10 for the wet T-shirt competition.
well seriously happy hunting! :-P
Well, not being directly involved I can't say for certain but this area has been settled for quite some time. I do know that after a battle troops didn't like to tote heavy lead around and frequently dumped bullets out in handfuls along the trail. I myself have found little piles of mini balls along a straight line every 50 feet on an old narrow gauge rail line. Psychology as well as history is part of relic hunting.
I will say it is exciting to pass the time that way.
hello from France!
Very good high quality video :)
Some quite recent items found, but very interesting. Very nice rifle barrel.
I can promise you that none of the videos we filmed with Garrett or on our own are faked...and they are always fun. Thanks for checking us out.
Dan
its very smart to give all ur personal information in on say
Have just bought a detector ( a TRACKER1V )Cant wait to get out exploring in my area which is North Ireland......Billy
makes me wanna go fishing
you'll have to go to a library or online to see if theres any history behind those places
The chigg. What a legend.
so that metal detector works on land and in sea and on beaches? you get good depth with it?
Garrett AT Gold and AT Pro is waterproof to 10 feet. The head of the unit can be submerged. See video.
I look forward to getting a 250 soon. My 1st detector ever
A civil war historian might be able to do some interesting work with this type of equipment and the addition of a top notch gps receiver to log the exact location of all the finds. I wonder what interesting patterns might emerge when plotted on a map. The number of bullets found can give one a sense of the level of carnage that occurred along the river 150 years ago.
AT Gold (recommended for freshwater use) is waterproof to 10ft , and the PRO-POINTER was modified by Beau to be waterproof.
squishface,
F.Y.I.
AT Pro and AT Gold are submersible to ten feet. So, it's fine to put the control box underwater. However, as an accessory, the blue underwater headphones are required to dive with your head underwater.
Good luck and welcome to the hobby.
. I am a newbie and have studied maps within a 100 mile radius of Tifton, GA. Hernando Desoto's actual trail is not known. He would head east and west from a base camp to check out local tribes and posibility of gold and silver. I know that Desoto and his biographer excluded these ventures. David Hally, Head of UGA Archaeology Dept searched for these excursions with little evidence . But a local found a Spanish sword 50 feet from the test grids after a hard rain a few days later. It was sold to
Nice! Thanks for the history lesson. Subscribed can't wait to watch more. I bet yall were well soaked by the end of the day. Soggy bottom boys. LOL
Is the garret 150 ace control box waterproof? So you can dunk it under the water like at 10:17?
nice camera work
That some sweet finds there guys -Wish I could be there .
any info on the ring? sometimes gold/platinum can have a false coating on it making it appear a cheaper metal. what was the end result when you checked the ring?
You guys are getting the casing part underwater, i thought that was a big no no. You guys got special detectors that is ok for that or you got some sort of protector on it? I am new to metal hunting btw.
i want to get a detector to use at my grandmas old place, the house has been there for over 300 years and is the oldest property in my town, and it was once used as a trading post as its on the river about 250 years ago, should be some good stuff hidden in the ground.
Good job guys. You guys in GA? Careful for gators!
One man's trash is another man's treasure
What type of silicone have you guys used to "waterproof" the pro pointer? And does it last? Nice video. HH
cool video guys! some nice stuff!
Magnet fishing is the thing you guys should check on google, good for these kind of searches!
GREAT JOB GENTLEMEN.
Very cool!!
Nice Video...Greetings from Germany
nice camera.. great quality.
Hey to the fellow that found the Spanish Coin, If you want to make a leather and sterling pendant out of the coin with out ruining the integrity of the coin, let me know.
That was absolutely cool!
Devin
great vid!
If you still had the AT Gold, I would have asked that you send it to Garrett for repair. We have excellent customer service department.
I SO WISH I had an AT Pro ..... but I'm not rich so I am not lucky. Have fun guys.
Wouldn't "early pottery" wear down over time? The passing sediment rounds everything in the rivers where i live, glass, bricks, etc. But i guess that depends on how fast the water is moving.
Strange, I watched a video on youtube where Garrett was showing how you can wash off your Pro Pointer under running water after each use. Just showed the guy holding his thumb over the speaker hole.
Garrett Makes waterproof detectors for water recovery, I believe.
xiGoRawrxx, thanks for the comment. Actually some of those bullets were fired, but the majority of the ones we found in the water that day were dropped and never fired.
HH
Dan
Killer creek you have there
Wow .. that river has very high lead content! Must be strange to just let your detector float as you dig.
@uw1955 woah woah, you detect in Berlin? seems quite dangerous don't you think lol
I wish i was as lucky as some people to get all these cool detectors to try out.... But great hunt..
Nice camera work.
hi im 13 and want to start metal detecting and found that garret would be the best and i want somthing that will last and will find things in sand and dirt what do you think i should get im in the 350 and under prize range
snake detector would be nice too!
Where did you get your camera man, he's really good...
I need one like that ! How much was he ? I hope you had that Diamond ring checked out... Back in the period it was common to mount diamonds in Silver... Don't see it much today but back in the day it was common... I understand that a cheap aluminum sand scoop would be bad because of rocks, but could you use maybe a heavy steel one to ease in the bending over with a snorkel and mask? I hope you take the time to answer these, Thank you.
It's a Kentucky flintlock rifle barrel.
Sounds like you guys are working off of the Hooch in the Atlanta area possibly? I kayak there every season.
Only the AT Gold, AT Pro, Sea Hunter and Infinium LS are waterproof. If you need more information about Garrett products, please visit garrett.com
@rexnri when you bought it, the place you bought it at should tell you or if you got it online, the person who sold it to you should of said if it was or not. Ask him, or just google search it :p
@GarrettDetectors yeah 50cal its easy to tell
what are you using to protect the head unit on those detectors? i used to have an ATgold and it got ruined by a little bit of rain.
I don't know why you guys are throwing back some of that stuff, like the part of a rail. I would take out all the trash, like I do when I am dredging....
Good show, thanks.
ummm i didnt know this but your metal detectors are water proof?
That is cool
are you using waterproof everything?
Will my AT pro Float ??
Do I need to secure headphones of any type before submerging, and can I submerge it with just the plug and NO headphones ?? Also Can I submerge the machine with just the normal headphones plugged in ?? Any preparations or precautions I need to check before submerging the machine ?? Thank you, HH !!
@snidedog2004 great idea!
and finding things in a river is legal vs finging things in a grave sight or battle field, so finding it in a river kina launders relics? you see i have found many bullets and old targets down stream from where they were fired, so its not probable they would still be at the battle sight in the water, from my experience you would find bullets concentrated in the same place you would find gold because of the weight, a whites detector can find things 4 foot deep in the ground so far
what are are you finding this river and things?
where's the damn cannons!!!
Is that ax that you use to stck it in the mud after detecting noise or sign?
I am thinking about buying one of your metal detectors
Finding stuff must be pretty cool but when it is so corroded it there any value to these pieces or is it just fun finding them and salvaging the metal?
Well usually when coins are found in the bottom of so e random river, the are usually pretty old and worth something, but even if there's not, it's still cool to have
do you guys ever find gold ?
u allowed to keep it?
These are river shorts...dry in 15 minutes. Chaffing happens regardless when you walk that much in the water :)
i would go in with swimming shorts, swimming shoes and no shirt. maybe have the side pouch to put finds into.
They are done the same exact way, Steve's just was less used.
Why not take the metal scraps that you find out of the water, would help a lot you know.
cool
thats my sinker !!!
what state and city is this search...''?
thanx
wow i did not know that
@dogahog plenty of good stuff to find here mate :)
how do u know it' s saved river or ocean with no snakes or wild animals?
i once was at a creek and i thought i saw a realy cool stick but no it was a dear leg and the name of the creek was murder creek D:
looks like a good way to get polio o.O
I like
And?
damn are those waterproof?
No bullets of gold??
