Following your project from the beginning! If I may, just to let you know that I built a complete travel trailer from scratch and I did myself the propane installation on october 2021. I am not sure that running rubber propane hose inside a van be legal in your state, I would also check with your van insurance company. I would at least have used the stainless steel braided propane hoses that are more protected than the rubber ones. Copper tubing is not that difficult to use, you need a special cheap bending and flaring tools. After my installation, I asked an RV propane technician to inspect my set up, including the leak test: he then issued an invoice / certificate stating that my installation was in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations in my country, Canada. You didn't show all the details but your propane locker access door should be gasketed and equiped with some kind of locking devices assuring that the door correctly compress its gasket; also, you should have a gas drop out vent in the bottom of the locker to assure that if there is any leak, gas will escape from this floor opening. Good luck with your project and I am looking forward watching the rest of the videos!

Thanks Charles, this are really good points for people to know. The propane hoses that I've used are Flexible thermoplastic (TPE) UL and CGA approved hose. These hoses are rated up to 350 psig working pressure with a 400 pound pull test rating. (Eventhough I have a double regulator that will drop the PSI from the tank to the correct range for my appliances i.e. around 12 PSI) Each hose comes with two ends and fully crimped brass ferrules. (They actually have metal inside them). I chose these because they are flexible and less likely to be affected or dislodged by the constant movement of the van. The CSA mark means it has been tested against applicable North American standards requirements. CSA marks are found on a wide variety of North American products: electrical and electronic, gas-fired, personal protective equipment and many more. www.csagroup.org/testing-certification/marks-labels/csa-marks-labels-north-america/#:~:text=The%20CSA%20mark%20on%20your,protective%20equipment%20and%20many%20more

On the propane locker. th-cam.com/video/8DNGYlgVaKM/w-d-xo.html You will see in that video that I do have a propane exhaust at the bottom of the locker out to beneath the van. I haven't shown the locker box finished yet with all of the gaskets in place and the locking device that will push it against the gaskets...although I mention this in that video. (this is the difficulty with making videos whilst other construction is going on and needed to be completed before this project can be completed!) Thanks again for your input....it's super helpful for others to know what to consider with all of these systems that are needed for a van/camper conversion.

@@VanLifeDesigner Your response is quite detailed and correct! You know, an item can be CSA rated for a certain application and not for others: for example, this hose can be CSA Certified for outdoor application, not necessarily for indoor application.

Good to know. I do intend to get my systems inspected either way! Thanks again for your input!

So how is the solenoid for the propane activated? I didn't hear it discussed in the video at all nor saw any switches.

It's always activated when the button is off in the van. When you click "on" the button in the van, the solenoid turns off and the propane flows. That's what the solenoid is for, to stop the flow of the propane when not in use, so as to not have constant pressure on the pipes.

10:58 fantastic video. Are you using the Mopeka wireless monitor?
