- Making a cot / crib for Baby Brown from scratch! Using some very twisted and warped slabs of beech. Baby will soon be 6 months old, so he needed a cot for his room to sleep in. I designed the cot to have an adjustable mattress base, storage in the form of a large drawer underneath and removable panels at the front and back ready for converting to a toddler bed.

One day baby brown will watch this video and see what a great dad hes got
Pretty sure Mama Brown sees that already.
I love the pride in your voice when you said ‘My Son’ at the very start. Brilliant cot as well, awesome job fella
We all noticed! 😊
Thank you Dean 😁
baby Brown is lucky to have you as his dad. And of course his mom rocks too!
You’ve made a beautiful heirloom for your family. I’m sure your grandchildren will one day use it. Suggestion: Add the year the crib was made next to your maker’s mark. Obviously, you won’t forget Baby Brown’s birthday, but if it’s used for future generations, that date will be meaningful.
That's beautiful. Baby Brown is VERY fortunate to have a Dad like you.
That is a great piece. Quality enough that Baby Brown might be able to use it if they decide to have Baby Baby Browns.
Absolutely beautiful Keith. Good tip for removing stickers is Pledge polish.
. Thank you. I'll have to try that
Even though it may not get loads of views because it’s a child’s project. That looked like an absolute joy to make. Lots of love poured into it.
A brilliant built, Keith, it HAD to rank as one of, if not THE, best built you've done. Baby Brown is a very lucky boy. We'll done.
We have a cradle in our family that was bought somewhere around 1921. It passed down 4 generations and currently the 12th baby is using it. Looking at the design, ease of disassembly and storage, and build quality, I guess that this cot will last longer then you think.
Isnt it mad that although we all know about "measure twice, cut once!" we often dont apply it and make mistakes! Dont worry you arent alone here! Nice little project well executed :)
Yes! Thank you!
Top! Top! Job buddy, you must be proud as its for your little one. My daughter slept in the same cot my great nan slept in, so I’d love it if yours got passed down the generations the same. Great vid👍
Wooow nice job Keith baby Brown will love it.
first time you've made something where I'm genuinely impressed by the design and quality of the craftsmanship overall
Very nice job, love the style and color.
I always appreciate that you show your mistakes, it makes the rest of us feel not so stupid !😉
Thank you very much!
Well done Keith you should be proud of yourself for making your son cot a lot of work but I say it was worth it as for all projects you always think later l could have done it differently but saying that l think you did a great job 👏
Great job, a real family heirloom. Hopefully, baby browns' own kids will use it, too.
Another work of art Keith.
Fair play Keith been watching you for a few years now and this project is by far your best. well done
Thank you! I don't think it's my best to be honest. I think the double bed frame I made is my best work, I'm not sure if I'll ever better it!
great practice for all the baby gates Keith!
Gorgeous work and I love how you’re so modest and not afraid to show your mistakes
Thank you so much!
That’s is absolutely beautiful!! Ur baby is so lucky to have you..
Very smart. Better than the shops
Beautiful. Your baby is very lucky!
Super job. It's especially rewarding when your hard work is for your own family members
I enjoy these videos very much and they bring me alot of inspiration and enthusiasm. Though I am not a woodworker I am an avid diy’er, love these!
Thats a lovely piece of work and showcases the quality of your workmanship.
Well done mate, looks great. A really classy look. You should be very proud of youself.
It IS your son we are talking about, so it's understandable you put so much time and trouble into it. I think you did a great job and am impressed you didn't just throw up a site to copy for people. They should want to do their own research. It's for their child, or someone else's. Couldn't be more important! Thanks for showing us it can be done. 😊
Onwards and upwards, certainly a change of pace with this build. Glad you're proud of it - congrats on the baby.
Cheers Kevin, a labour of love indeeed, looks great!
Baby Brown is a lucky boy to have such a smart papa. Lovely job, would be nice to see it become a family heirloom passed to Grand baby Brown in years to come. Hope Ria is doing well too. Stay safe.
You've made an heirloom to be passed down to future generations of baby Browns! Lovely work.
Beautiful job, and hopefully a family heirloom built! Great-Grand son Brown may use it one day!!
Great job as usual Keith, well done. Like many of us, we all make the odd mistake or two but with a short break and a cuppa, we figure out a solution. Well done again.
Such an accomplished build Keith. I’m sure baby Brown will be very comfy and safe in his new bed. Brings back very fond memories of when ours were just tiddlers. What a great Dad.
Thank you so much Mandy
hi Keith you got build plans for this plz
@@Countryboy246he discusses this at the end of the vid.
Looks lovely; Baby Brown should be happy in the cot!
Baby Brown is a lucky boy to have gotten a dad like you, he’s going to love his cot and all the other great things that you are going to build for him as he grows ❤
I generally mean this, this build is insane!! I get why you built it yourself, most things on the market are built on quantity and not quality. Well done mate!
Lovely work, Keith - you should be rightly proud. Also, noticed Baby Brown's room looks out onto the catio: endless entertainment 😆
Great video. As a dad to a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I did think have you remembered this or that bit. You did a great job. My little one is already at his beds lowest setting as I couldn't to bothered to change it 3 times.
I missed your great news. Congratulations and welcome to the World Master Brown.
Great build too 👍🏻
Thats lovely that Keith mate. 👌
Great build. That really was a lot of work, but surely well worth it. Thanks for sharing the video.
That's great Keith, and a real labour of love, a unique and stylish item of furniture to be proud of for sure !
I know you'll be disappointed at your dimension mistake, it's so easily done, especially when you flex an existing design, but you've come such a long way in your skills and your recent machine upgrades also helped you achieve this high-end result !
Beautiful, you can tell it was a personal project for sure with them hours put in to it 👍
Really nice work, Keith! You can be justifiably proud of that.
Amazing build. Nice work! Cheers!
That's a great build bro. It's crazy he's almost 6 months old already it seems like it was just yesterday it was summer time and you made the announcement. Time flies! Can't wait to see him in the years to come helping you in the shop.
Thank you! I hope he likes sanding 🤣
@@RagnBoneBrownI've never been lucky enough to have kids of my own, but my step son does the sanding in my shop 😂 he enjoys it for some strange reason
@@woodworkingandepoxy643 Probably more the time together, rather than the actual task (that's what I've found anyway)
Nice. I bet it was such a great feeling making this for your son.
Really impressive. Very well done.
Keith...that is FAB U LOUS...
Good to watch. Congratulations!
Great build Keith. You should be proud.
That looks awesome Keith! 😎
great build Keith and it looks great in situ. Hard to believe he's at 6 months already.
Beautiful build Keith.
Really lovely, Keith. You should be proud.
That's a beaut 🙌
Thanks mate
really good job, and congratulations again
Top job that, Keith 👌
Beautiful work, Keith! Really stunning looking bed!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy holidays!
Thanks, you too!
Awesome build Keith.
Excellent work! When it comes to the struggles you had with the insert nuts you should try running a tap into the wood. I have done that on lots of applications and they work great. I even remember seeing a TH-cam video where in testing the wood threads lasted longer than inserts! plus the wood threads lasted for many in and out cycles. Great Points on the regulations around cribs!

An absolute outstanding build Keith.
Needless to say you'd never buy such a quality cot from a shop or outlet of any kind mate and nothing as stunning as this one. Great work and fantastic video 😉🙂
Congrats, very beautifull.
Brilliant, I’m sure that will last for years and maybe even be used for a second baby Brown? 👍👍👍👍👍 I think it looks Bloody awesome too 👍👍
you've improved so much since the first shed days!!
What an incredible piece of furniture! Beech is such an underrated wood, it looks fantastic.
that came out great looking
Extremely satisfying, Keith- it’s obvious how much love and care has gone into this build. Absolutely marvellous.
So.. You were testing for fit, just in case you were kicked out to the Dog house LOL. I never trust just using the Hex key to screw in the inserts. I use a bolt with a double lock nut. I haven't had any problems so far. Very nice. Looks better than a bought one. And pride in building it yourself. 😎😊
Undoubtedly a nice piece of furniture made with loving care. From experience I would suggest two changes. Firstly as the baby develops he or she will want to stand. Dowels rather than the slats would be far easier for the baby's tiny hands to grip in order to gain balance confidence. Dowels would have made for simpler manufacture too ..... no need for an expensive DF500.
Secondly the side of the cot must be high enough to keep the baby safe from falling out but low enough to avoid back injury for the parent laying the baby down or lifting the baby out. This is normally achieved by locking drop sides. Clearly as evidenced by Keith, "dropping" the side while the baby is resting is impossible with those Button-fix fasteners. But certainly a nice piece of woodwork.
brilliant build !
Fantastic work 🙂 Putting a little wax on the threaded inserts helps to screw them into hardwoods.
Top job, well done 👍🏻
Fantastic job, Keith. This is a beautiful piece of furniture. Congratulations on a job well done. Thanks for the video.
That is stunning Keith! Bravo! My favourite project from you yet.
I’m not usually a huge fan of beech but it looks great.
Great build Keith. Stylish and practical. Those plywood stickers are the bain of my life! B&Q are the worst culprits.
Amazing work Keith! You should be very proud of your work. I'm sure all us diy dads are jealous of you completing this project!
Beautiful work
Great job he love it
Beautiful cot.
Thank you! 😊
It looks great, you've done a lovely job.
Beautiful piece. Hopefully he can put his baby in it one day. I missed the announcement, so please allow me to say congratulations now. Congratulations! Take care.
Thank you so much!
Amazing build Keith, a nice strong cot for your baby, and made by your self that is some thing to be proud off, well done, As always a good build and a great video, Take care👍
It is beautiful and so special.
That really is fantastic, one of the best builds you've done! We picked up a Tutti Bambini cot-bed which is very similar in design but nowhere near the quality of materials and finish you've put together.
Beautiful
Well done!
Well done keith! Lovely project and its wholesome to see the level of love and care you’ve put in! ❤
It's a really neat-looking cot. Well done. I got to build my son's post-cot cabin bed myself, and it's been one of my favourite projects in the last 25 years. It was the first after I finished my bench joinery course at night school. You'll look back on this with pride, I'm sure.
Amazing!
For those threaded inserts put a small amount of furniture wax onto them before installing. Worked for me.
Beautiful work. ☺☺
Love a good project video! Came out great, thanks for including the time it took you to build it. Well done!
Amazing work, Keith! I'd much rather have your hand made cot than one bought from a "reputable" shop!
looks awesome
Outstanding 👏🤘
Nice job 👍
