Keith, this bed frame is beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you design and build it, and of course I love that you used almost all salvaged material. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
One of the things I always appreciate is the inclusion of mistakes. Few projects, especially original projects, happen without them. I'm also a big fan of your repurposing and frugal nature. The bed looks amazing.
I hope you don't mind a suggestion. You might need some ventilation holes in the ply, otherwise mould can grow in the trapped condensation. A hole saw applied at regular intervals, would do the job. Beautiful project, and lovely to see reclaimed wood being used.
Wow, the bed frame looks awesome. Really nice to use salvage wood and bring new life to it. I'm really impressed. Thanks for all videos you make, I really love them.
The bed looks fantastic. Congratulations! I may be wrong but I think you should add some holes in that plywood for ventilation as mold could start developing at the bottom of the mattress due blocked to air flow. Also, it is good practice to flip the mattress periodically (if it's designed that way).
I really enjoy your vids man. One thing I do like about you is you never shy away from your mistakes and explain what went wrong and how you resolved it!
Absolutely beautiful, outstanding craftsmanship, and the fact u managed to do it from reclaimed wood in to such a high quality finish, hats off to u sir!!
Love the idea of returning material from the house in a new form. I’ve made mantles, bench seats and vanity tops from old floorboards and wall cladding in our 1870s timber framed house. It feels great to know that the material is having a new life and makes the extra work worth it. Your final product looks amazing.
I love the fact that as much as possible of what you make is from salvaged wood but the quality of what you now make with it is exceptional. Thank you for sharing it.
I admire your colour matching skills. I have never used different woods and tried to get them to match, simply because I just never had any luck on test pieces. You seem to get it right so often.
Hi Keith A great bed, love the design , I've stripped a single Divan bed for a skip and under the cloth cover was a wooden frame then cardboard , once a mattress is on it must spread the weight , keep up the good work, Graeme.
I've been wanting to make a bed for my guest room. I have tile, so I think finding a center post with a rotating wheel may do the trick to moving it around as needed.
What a super job you made of that Keith. The bed with the new mattress looks smashing. You must be delighted with the outcome and how satisfying to have used mostly reclaimed wood. Well done!
Excellent job, I really like the pale/dark co trast, and the herringbone slats. I had a mattress on a board but had to drill 50mm holes to inhibit mould from the moisture that had nowhere to go. Thanks for posting.
Wow, that is gorgeous, excellent job! I read your blog about burnout and I think the fun you had taking your time with this project really shows. I also really love reusing the ancient tools, bits and scraps that came with my house when I bought it.
Thank you. That was also the Keith working 60+ hours per week though - I'm not going back there, and I would hope that no one would wish that upon me either....
7:31 That made me wince. I had kickback from a very similar cut to that. Still have a slight scar. Nice bed. I made my own too - pine - and it weighs a lot. I ended up reinforcing the corners with massive corner braces and coach bolts because the bed hardware loosened as metal plates can give. Solid. Nice finishing work. You did something really good there.
Keith....That is fabulous, and the fact it is made from your old conservatory is even better. It took me ages to work out how those brackets worked... Nice one, Cheers Paul
The bed base is a masterpiece Keith. The finish is perfect and the stain used on it really makes the timber stand out. Thoroughly enjoyed each video mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Great looking bed, Keith - love the reclaimed element. Just an FYI on the center support, I ran a furniture/mattress store for many years and the number one reason for mattress warranty claims was sagging in the middle. Your center rail looks strong but you might want to check and see if the mattress warranty has a clause about requiring a center support leg. Keep up the great work!
Hi Keith, I like the style of this simple bed, but I would recommend giving the mattress the opportunity to breathe, the air needs to circulate under the mattress, that's one of the reasons beds have slatted bases/frames. Otherwise the wooden panels will start to mold relatively quickly. Greetings Ben
This has to be one of your best projects to date. Totally fantastic build and finish. Love the cost cutting as well. Never a bad thing. Great video, keep up the good work.
That turned out great! You might want to add a vertical post (leg) to the center of the center rail for just a little more support. Our bed has it and other than hitting it when we vacuum, it really is no bother.
Great looking bed Kieth. The quality of the finish is amazing. I'm a great believer of using reclaimed wood as and when I can, especially as you said about the cost of wood right now. Great work 👍
Thank you for telling us how long the overall project took. I like hearing that because as a new woodworker I have been wondering if I am just really slow..... sounds like I am about on par.
Great work, awesome to watch. I think you are one of the most gifted narrators of projects, and although I know no one wants to make mistakes, I love how you talk through them with solutions to make it work. It’s amazing, keep up the great work, and enjoy some well deserved rest on your new bed!
You have an uncanny knack of casually showing a genius idea. Centre rail of your bed, many times I've put a screw in to repair a split step cut in the end of a Timber, have I ever thought to put a screw in before it splits? NOPE!!!! I've 40 years of experience making and repairing stuff and this is not the first time watching your channel I've thought - Why the hell didn't I think of that?
Hi Keith, Have you thought about a Diesel heater, they are noisy but it takes my workshop that is a similar size to yours without any insulation from 5 degrees to 17degrees in about 5 mins. I got mine from Machine Mart.
Really nice build! Looks absolutely stunning! One small thing that's not the end of the world but you do need to keep an eye on. As far as I understand the bottom of the bed/matrass is now closed off? It's actually better to keep holes in there for ventilation of the bottom side of the matrass. Otherwise you run the risk getting a slightly damp bottom of the matrass as well as some mold eventually. Turning the matrass enough can prevent this, but personally I would just make some holes in the bottom.
Wow. Looks awesome, I find this very inspiring, and if this is a taste of future project videos all I can say is I am really looking forward to future projects!
Really like how the bed has turned out.You have made a super king size bed for £55 in material costs, now that is a serious saving to what you would of been paying from a supplier.
A really nice project. A great deal of care made such a difference. Sometimes a longer time frame is so much better on a project. And it doesn’t matter if you break the videos into multiple parts either. Well done 👍
I understand your going for a "Fine Furniture" bed. For me I typically don;t acre about matching my timbers on a project. Its re-used, I'm happy to show that. I'm also increasingly saddened we don't see the Oak hatstands make an appearance anymore .....
What a fantastic result. I really like the chevron detail to the head and foot boards and the mix of finishes to ensure a consistent colour. I've a superking bed with underbed storage in my order book and I think I'm going to use the bed-hardware you featured, the alternative are bed bolts which require visible fixings on the outside of the bed which these avoid. A question though, now you have had use of the bed, is there anything you'd change in the construction or design if you were to tackle the project again? Plus, I'm guessing that new bed-side tables will be a future project ???
Cheers Karl. Yeah the hardware is actually really good, despite having to make a few adjustments, very solid. The only thing I would change is that I'd make the bed about 1-2 inches shorter in height, but a bit nitpicky. It's still sitting height but taller than my old bed - maybe I just need to get used to it!
Love your thought processes and the way the jobs come along it feels like home. That’s a wonderful bed god alone knows what it would cost to buy and that’s part of the joy in building your own furniture.

you read my mind. thought the same thing too.
This turned out great. If the middle support ever did start to split, you could add a metal collar/belt just before the notch.
Wow, the bed frame looks awesome. Really nice to use salvage wood and bring new life to it. I'm really impressed. Thanks for all videos you make, I really love them.
Thank you

What a super job you made of that Keith. The bed with the new mattress looks smashing. You must be delighted with the outcome and how satisfying to have used mostly reclaimed wood. Well done!

Bed looks beautiful...good to see ya working with reclaimed wood again. And no sponsor. Glade to see the Keith from the little shed.
Thank you. That was also the Keith working 60+ hours per week though - I'm not going back there, and I would hope that no one would wish that upon me either....
@@RagnBoneBrown just saying that you looked more relaxed.
7:31 That made me wince. I had kickback from a very similar cut to that. Still have a slight scar.

One of your best projects so far. The bed is beautiful! Thanks for sharing this with us!
This has to be one of your best projects to date. Totally fantastic build and finish. Love the cost cutting as well. Never a bad thing. Great video, keep up the good work.
Thanks Jonathan!
Looks stunning Keith, it must weigh a bloody ton as well. 🌎s strongest bed I reckon.
Cheers mate! It's not as heavy as you'd think actually..!
Keith, been watching your vids for a while now and you truly are inspirational. This bed is amazing and demonstrates your amazing skill.
Thank you
Superb job Keith the bed looks extremely impressive. Great use of your salvaged timber. Tony
Thanks Tony 👍
Clearly, Dylan gives it his seal of approval--absolutely gorgeous bed! Great work.
That turned out great! You might want to add a vertical post (leg) to the center of the center rail for just a little more support. Our bed has it and other than hitting it when we vacuum, it really is no bother.
I mentioned in the video that i wanted to avoid adding a central leg, hence the chunky centre beam
Great looking bed Kieth. The quality of the finish is amazing. I'm a great believer of using reclaimed wood as and when I can, especially as you said about the cost of wood right now. Great work 👍

Great job Keith, looks amazing. Nice to see I wasn't the only one who had to move the brackets on the legs when I made a bed last year!
Haha glad I'm not the only one. Thank you!
The slats on the bed head look brilliant mate, love it
Hi Keith, Have you thought about a Diesel heater, they are noisy but it takes my workshop that is a similar size to yours without any insulation from 5 degrees to 17degrees in about 5 mins. I got mine from Machine Mart.

Well done! It looks beautiful. Loved the 2 videos on this project and seeing the end result. Beautiful work.
Wow! That looks terrific. I'm impressed with how you get such good results from salvaged materials. Nicely done!
Thank you
Beautiful work, Keith. Thanks for sharing the video. Now I'm sure you'll find a good purpose for the (salvaged) materials of the old bed.
Thank you!
This is such a beautiful bed frame! I’ve been shopping for a new frame and nothing compares to this, and you use salvage which I love. Wonderful job!
looks amazing. Really like the idea of not having the central leg
Cheers Matt, I should probably lay off the pies though!
Wow. Looks awesome, I find this very inspiring, and if this is a taste of future project videos all I can say is I am really looking forward to future projects!
Thank you!
This looks beautiful, Keith! Nice upgrade!
Unbelievable work the bed is top tier! Should be proud of that Keith
Stunning piece of work Keith, loved watching this over the two parts 😀😀👍👍
Cheers Leo, means a lot. It's my favourite ever project I think 👍
Beautiful bed, loved watching this over two videos, has given me ideas for my own bed build on my to do list,
Really like how the bed has turned out.You have made a super king size bed for £55 in material costs, now that is a serious saving to what you would of been paying from a supplier.
Thank you
This is mega Keith. Brilliant bit of work and looks great. Bravo.
Brilliant. Love the design, thoughtfulness and perfect color matching. Now get some rest and kick that cold.
Bravo! Wow Keith. Really well done!!! I absolutely love the look of that bed frame. So professional and classy. Great job.
Thanks!
That is a stunning bed frame, great workmanship and a really helpful video.
Great looking bed, I like the contrast of the head and base boards 👍
Absolutely fantastic. So nice to see great materials repurposed into something so stunning. Brilliant job.
A really nice project. A great deal of care made such a difference.
Sometimes a longer time frame is so much better on a project. And it doesn’t matter if you break the videos into multiple parts either.
Well done 👍
Thank you
Keith, a beautiful project which you must be very proud of. I am pleased to see that Dillon was helping you during the build 😁.
I understand your going for a "Fine Furniture" bed. For me I typically don;t acre about matching my timbers on a project. Its re-used, I'm happy to show that. I'm also increasingly saddened we don't see the Oak hatstands make an appearance anymore .....
They'll be back, still got a few left but I don't think there are any oak ones!
Your slabs of beach are class, lucky you are not my next door neighbour 😂😂
They seem to be never ending!!
Love your thought processes and the way the jobs come along it feels like home. That’s a wonderful bed god alone knows what it would cost to buy and that’s part of the joy in building your own furniture.

Terrific work and a beautiful satisfying result. Great work Keith!
it's a good solid bed for many years to come enjoyed the video.
Great use of the reclaimed wood and a lovely job.

really really good work from the man keef here
thank you Matt!
😁 Lovely job Keith. You can't beat a nice bit of salvaged wood. You should be proud of that one. Good job with the colour matching (something I never get right 😒). Glad to see it gets Dylan approval 😁👍

Mate, the bed looks brilliant. Thanks for another great video. All the best.

Using that screw at 10:53 was a cool little tip. It make perfect sense but I've never seen it done or done it myself. Interesting.
Cheers 👍
It turned beautiful I love it 🥰 I loved seeing a big project it was worth the wait 🤎🤎

love the design! You are a very skilled woodworker.

Very Nice project Keith but aren’t you afraid of moisture under mattress ? I mean there is no gap under the mattress and the plywood. It could have no enough air flow under the mattress ?
Fantastic build Keith, loved the colours too...
Thank you

damn, the cladding and everything looks sooo nice!!
