- H....Hello everyone....it's been a while. Well uhhh...... here is a highly requested TAS you all wanted.
This TAS started off with just me and my brother (SpeedyTheHedgehog) doing worlds 1-6. This TAS wouldn't be possible to finish without “[TAS] Jaiden” finishing worlds 7-8. (Go give her a sub. She 100% deserves this for her hard work and dedication! Get her to at least 100 subs or more: / @tasjaiden5024 )
Various improvements along the way as well! Yeah. A LOT of them! Hopefully y'all would find this TAS enjoyable even after my 10 month fold! I'm grateful to all of the people that still considered to subscribe even though I folded. We were at 1.3K I believe the last time I folded. Now we at 1.53K. Again, I can't thank y'all enough! @@TheLastDrPhil No. Our PC during this time was very old so it crashed and corrupted on world 8 which lost all of our progress on world 7 in which my brother and I decided to give up at that point.
However well speedrunned, but the problem keeps being you'll have to go back on those levels to collect KONG & unlock those special levels

At least we get to jam out to the rocket barrel mixes as much as a normal playthrough
We barely even got to that classic piano swell of DK Island Swing in the first level.
Donkey kong game’s, where his bananas are stolen, fastest world records are canonically how fast he got his bananas back. Like how angry he was to get them back.

is the jump off the button at 22:23 considered a glitch?
@@snowob Eh, not really a glitch, but more of a collision mistake
I know of two glitches:
1. You can take damage and throw a dk barrel at the same time to have dk and 1hp and diddy at 2. It can definitely be done by tas but I'm not sure of it's usefulness.
2. Cranky sometimes disappears when you enter the shop. Don't know what causes it, but it most probably is a loading issue, and cannot be replicated by tas.
@@davinchristino you can also Clip through rails using minecarts, cancel knockback from moving into walls by pressing grab & triple/double pound on some buttons (dunno if triple is possible outside of 8-1) hope this helps :3

It's really cool to see a TAS for Returns. Such an underrated gem in the Donkey Kong series and an even more underrated speed game. Great work!

I love the fact that Tiki Tong used the bananas we were after the entire game just to gain hands which he loses merely around thirty seconds into the fight.
53:56 - 54:02 is such a troll. The game is like 'Oh, you thought you were unlocking the boss? Lol nope.'
Such a funny moment. Great touch by the game designers.
Whats better is that the level you play foreshadows the roadblock because everything in the level is crumbling around you. Its a nice touch
13:41 I never noticed how well-timed that key change is, it helps show the intensity of the crab pulling out that giant cannon and makes that moment in the level feel special

Been playing DKCR again recently, and while I’m a slow-playing collectibles sort of person, it’s so clear than enemy and platform placements are set up for getting through the levels at speed. Came here to see what that looked like, and I’m not disappointed, wow! Impressive stuff!
7 year old me would freak out if I saw this, all I did was speed-ran the game but always stopped mid-way through. This made my day. 😢

It’s always a treat to see the TAS person goofing off during sections that can’t be sped up. For example, cutting rocket barrel levels way too close and getting no bananas during Tiki Tong Terror.
So that’s how I do the time trials.

13 yo me played thos game from start to finish at 200% twice and watching this TAS just made me realize how gorgeously well made this game is and how it still looks good for being a Wii game, with tons of colors, animations, details, backgrounds, deco, etc.

After all these years I came back to this game to play it a little bit but then I see this holy shit this is absolutely insane, this gameplay is on another level!
I played this game with a friend for the first time in years and for some reason I found it really difficult and I wondering how 7 year old me was doing this game no problem 😭

I find the momentum in this game really addictive, just slightly better than tropical freeze. It looks extremely fun to run. Really hoping we get a remaster of this game soon with proper button controls.

@WeegeeDX Hopefully, it contains both button & motion controls so people who prefer one or the other will both be happy. Then, it'll be the definitive version of the game.

Dk, feeling levels of anger never before thought possible, channeled that into speed and destroyed the tikis into about an hour of their rule, reclaming the bananas.
This is probably the perfect Donkey Kong Country Returns speedrun

Would it be possible to do a Four Medals% TAS? This would mean collecting every KONG letter in every level, collecting every puzzle piece, beating all levels again in Mirror Mode, and completing all levels again with a Gold Medal in each one during Time Attack. It was speculated that for a human the run would be 10 hours, but I’m not sure for a TAS. Would be fun to see.

One of the best games of all time. I was confused as to why the first boss wasn't included (I was skipping through to find it) but then I realized it was literally like a 20 second fight. TAS are crazy.

41:20 - 41:23 made me spit out my drink. Why do they sound like that?! LMAO
46:37 I dont know if this is known now but there is a faster way to get through the barrel part without having to land on the spikes at the top. You can roll under the first barrel and jump mid air between the barrels as you are going to fall. You should land in the second barrel.
If you land in the 2nd barrel, you’ll have to wait until the enemy with the blades past by into which (I’m sure) wasted frames. Then you’d have to wait to roll again after landing on the ground for a few seconds. You can definitely do this in speedruns tho since you could risk everything doing what TAS did.

I want to TAS the game too, but I can't get stable replays, how do you get smooth footage of your tas playback?
Dumping frames and Audio will automatically give you smooth footage after you're done dumping no matter how slow your pc is.
@@KananIsMyBae I tried dumping before but the video was corupted and the process took forever because idk how to dump without ultra quality.
any tips on that? :')

We had to face the other way so that we could land on the platform by it. Only way to do it atm that was to hover so he could turn the other way.

@@technoworld964 Puzzle pieces are not apart of the main 100% or 200% category as they only just stock up your gallery. In order to get 200% is through mirror mode. IDK why puzzle pieces aren’t apart of the percentages but it is what it is with that. This category is any% which is the fastest way to beat the game and not focus on those things in it like Puzzles pieces and KONG letters and mirror mode.

@@MatPgame67 Puzzle pieces are not in my Goal as of current. Puzzle pieces aren’t even within the game’s categories we seen today except file completion. M goal is to 100% the game or if I feel like it after I reach the end of 100%, 200%.
