Man just seeing these short snippets of cutscenes and dialogue makes me want to go play the Witcher 3 again immediately. Such an outstanding game. Best one I have ever played frankly.
I love these kind of videos on Witcher lore! I originally played through the Witcher 3 and recently embarked on the Witcher 2 which is also quite enjoyable, maybe not so much as The WItcher 3, though this could be because it's rather difficult to understand what to do for certain quests. I'm still new to PC gaming. Also, I have started reading through the books, starting on the Short stories The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, they were amazing!! And now close to finishing Blood of Elves. It's great learning more about Dandelion and other characters we know from the games like Shani, understanding how Yennefer and Geralt met. How Geralt lost his memory. And of course Ciris backstory. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books.
6:22 "They also go into battle shirtless, but not completely without anything on them as they are covered in tattoos..." Ah yes. They greatest defence against dragons. The dreaded tattoo. As long as their nips are inked they'll be fine.
I think the reavers character models were derived from the deckhand models from Novigrad. They share the same tattoos. Their look should signify a bit of a thuggish look and not much else was put into them from CDPR.
WitcherGeorge If you ever seen a default model from the Witcher, certain models aren’t specifically designed with their armor or clothing on. They’re made base or “nude” and the armor is overlaid and locked to certain procedural “bones” much like dressing. I’m not denying that reavers aren’t defined by a certain look. I’m saying CDPR just used the same character models from the deckhand models for the reavers as well, tattoos as well. It’s a big game and CDPR didn’t make every single character’s face different. They reused models and put a new hair style on and/or changed material mesh. You can see it also from the girl Ciri saved in the woods shares the same model as some of the other kids Geralt runs across throughout the game
5:55 -You see the cat eyes you think ah witcher, you see the bald guys with kind of tattoos on you think ah reaver, you see a random red headed whore roaming around in witcher 1 you think ah Triss finally, I wanted to talk to you about this quest...
Am i the only one that noticed a very crucial detail? Reavers suppose to wear armor! In the short story it is stated that they have multiple sets depending on the type of dragon that they plan to fight.
I wonder if they ever take on other contracts, like some hybrids, I dont see them taking on many other types of creatures such as specters or necrophages since the reavers rely on a numbers advantage and those creatures are much more specialized, I guess you could say, with their combat, like flanking and the hags abilities. Cursed creatures seem out of the reavers field as well, with werewolves being so agile and able to call in back up. I dont think their tactics would be as effective on creatures like a fiend or chort but I would say that theyed may have a better chance against a chort than a werewolf with the reavers experience with larger creatures. Maybe theyed take on some orgids too. Im just speculating on what else they could be able to deal with based on their experience.
Possibly, but their mainly know for dragon slaying, perhaps they don't know enough about the other creatures to correctly hunt them, Geralt spent his childhood learning how to deal with them all.
@@dovahkiin7253 cheers but since asking I found it. Bit conflicted about who's side to take but then I realised that geralt only spares creatures that can talk and be reasoned with.
the overworld was far too short for a horse. in witcher 2 specifically theres no real way to shoehorn roach in at all also I doubt the technology was up to scratch for a buggy horse
Geralt lost his memory and had no need for a horse in the other games (well he did, but the world was too small) when he regained his memory I imagine he thought I NEED A ROACH
@@EattingMeatSince82 Yeah as this other gentleman pointed out, you really should read the books. There is great detail that the games just can't emulate sometimes. Arguably the games version of the medallion is better.
In teh short story, Geralt actually befriends the dragon, and starts fighting the reavers, the yen stops him, they try to rape her, in the end, yenifer saves the dragon.
Its not to hard to kill regular monsters to an armed specialized force the problem occurs with cursed ones and spectres where witcher techniques and silver is a must
He was in need. Besides Yen wasn't without fault there. They have a deal and she have the audacity to try kick them all out. Then again they didn't even do the thing only threated. So no harm, no hard feelings.
Why are you constantly calling them Reaver Hunters? It's either short the Reavers or long the Crinfrid Reavers. I know it probably matters little but it really takes me out of the video.
Hes referring to the exact group of reavers in the story they were there to hunt a dragon. And were one of 4 Groups there to do so, in short they were the reaver hunters. There were the dwarfs, the humans with yen, geralts group and the reaver group.

Huh, always wondered who these blokes were when I met them in Beauclair. Thanks for clarifying George.
Thanks for watching man!
You know what'd be a very interesting video? A video on dryads.
I let the silver basilisk live myself.Endangered species, just needs its space
It was that part about it breeding, that sealed it for me
Same here.
I hated to see a species die. But it's the point of the job, slay the beast that feasts on men, it tied my hands when it killed those merchants.

You should make a video about the "White Frost", what it is, from where and when it originated and so on!
good idea!
The Bounds of Reason is one of my favorite stories of Geralt. The two companions of the golden dragon and their culture need more exploration.
Very interesting video! Hadn't even heard of them till now.
Thanks man!
Fab video once again George Keep up your great work like always~
Thank you man
Great Vid Witcher! hope to join your discord soon!
Look forward to having you!
That armor with the fur around his neck looks really really cool.. haven't seen that before
marvDE its the grandmaster witcher ursine armor set.
Grandmaster ursine armour!
Nic Blake thanks!!

At least one of the reavers looks like one of the vildkaarls from the initiation ceremony that Geralt and Hjalmar witnessed in Fornhala.
Narrator: They took it to Toussaint.
Subs: took it to Tucson

how do I start that quest shown in the very beginning? multiple playthroughs in and I've never seen that.
It's the Silver Basilisk quest from B&W. Normally I just run into it on accident.

Nice video :)
-I like The Bounds of Reason.
- :( Such meanies, killing all the dragons and hurting ladies.
what is your gwent name?
witchergeorge
Do you play on PC or console?
pc, if anyone wants to add me also im rafaelmurciano
sweet thanks man, ill make sure to play some nice matches with crazy decks
i think i added you, but maybe i fucked up XD let me know
Please do a video about Anna Henrietta you know like a Witcher lore video please
P.S.: You are amazing
Thank you man and I definitely will!
Why was roach not in the first two games?
the overworld was far too short for a horse.
in witcher 2 specifically theres no real way to shoehorn roach in at all
also I doubt the technology was up to scratch for a buggy horse
Roach is not just one mare.
Every mare Geralt buys is later called Roach. It's not a character.
Geralt lost his memory and had no need for a horse in the other games (well he did, but the world was too small) when he regained his memory I imagine he thought I NEED A ROACH
I assume they started off as friends as there are so few of them and skilled mercenaries probably would have had a following already
The Reavers could potentially be replacements for when there will be no witcher left.
Good point!
U
I don't remember ever meeting them... they're in Touissant in TW3? I'll have to go back and look around.
It's a contract!
WitcherGeorge Do you pick it up in the countryside or the city?
Could you make a video about the lady of the lake?
Sure!
What are all the rules of the witcher code?
It's not really real, they just say it to get out of contracts
It's just something Geralt makes up
"I'm sorry it goes against my code to work on this particular day, its also against my code to work for less than 100 crowns"
what armour are you wearing in that?
It's grandmaster ursine armor I think
What mg said!
Could you do a video about the silver basculas.
Sure!
Thanks for that. And I love your videos and your channel!
What do you mean" He wouldnt be the best one for war because hes not sound of mind'
Hes EXACTLY what War needs.
As in he wouldn't be reliable, if he's given an order he may not follow it
Wtf I never saw these quests!! :O
It's a contract!
The dragon in the netflix show was laughable
The whole show is laughable the fucking medallion is a fucking coin like really DAFUQ?
The golden dragon looked like a fryed chicken
@@EattingMeatSince82 you say that but to be fair the medallions in the books are described like that and thats what the show is adapting
@@EattingMeatSince82 Yeah as this other gentleman pointed out, you really should read the books. There is great detail that the games just can't emulate sometimes. Arguably the games version of the medallion is better.
Letho looks like he could be one of them 😂😂😂
yeah haha
I know it has nothing to do with the video but have you heard the news that the Netflix show won't be ready to release until 2020?
Damn that's a shame
I disagree that shows that Netflix wants to take their time to make sure the show turns out good and not just rush it.
In teh short story, Geralt actually befriends the dragon, and starts fighting the reavers, the yen stops him, they try to rape her, in the end, yenifer saves the dragon.
That he does!
What the?!? I never saw these guys in Blood and Wine,
witcher contract!
But how did they manage to kill so many draconids without silver swords?
Crossbows and brute force!
WitcherGeorge yeah I guess they add in numbers what they lack in witchery technic. Many reavers must've died though.
Its not to hard to kill regular monsters to an armed specialized force the problem occurs with cursed ones and spectres where witcher techniques and silver is a must
they just called geralt a specialist lmao! they have no idea hes the new and improved version of the specialists!
I always hate these comments but what the heck fancy shmancy armour is THAT?? I’ve not seen it before. Mod?
Grandmaster Bear Armour!
WitcherGeorge Bloody hell, I need to stop making alchemy builds 😑 lol. I’ve never once constructed grandmaster bear.
Makes me wonder why Geralt never killed the guy, or was friends with yarpen next time they met
He was in need. Besides Yen wasn't without fault there. They have a deal and she have the audacity to try kick them all out. Then again they didn't even do the thing only threated. So no harm, no hard feelings.
Was this DLC
Yeah. They tied her up.....and wanted to do things to her.
assholes
i am the only one see the one of The Reavers is look like Gaunter O'Dimm ?? 4:43
Gaunter O'Swole
WhatTheFu he looks a bit different
"the yennefer"
Sorry, I originally had 'The Sorceress', but edited it to Yennefer, to make sure everyone understood, I accidentally left the 'the'
WitcherGeorge it was funny
Is Geralt left handed
Nice!
Beanpole.
wtf the reavers are in the witcher 3
Only in the Blood and Whine Expansion.
Yup!
Naw they're clones lol
Sonta-ha
their tats are the worst Ive ever seen

They are weird
