@@arzesen Annarieta would be dead before she even realizes whats happening. Oriana is only Bruxa, in fact, in trailer Night to remember, we saw Geralt killing her in future. So she is killable. But if Regis and Dettlaff team up, then Gaunter O'Dimm be with you... 1v1 you may be able to defeat even higher vampire(its not something usual witcher can do. But Geralt with his additional mutations is one of the most powerful witchers (he was the sole survivor of additional trials. They enhanced his already enhanced senses)) but 2 vs. 1? They would rip him to shreds
I swear when i was playing the game and Dettlaff entered the scene my jaw dropped so hard that you can still see the cracks in the floor.

One of the greatest moments of this scene was when Anna Henrietta talks about Nazair's fashion with Dettlaff. It's such a subtle scene, but it makes her look like a babbling child who's totally oblivious of the conversation among the adults. Geralt, Dettlaff and Orianna seem to be merely entertaining her childish ramblings.
She's just another spoiled brat who everyone bows to.
@@ZNR-om9yn At first i kinda liked Annarieta, for her attitude and that she wasn't afraid to go with you when needed and she helped usually. But after finding Syanna, she became nothing more, than whining bitch, who wasn't capable to see difference between "hunting foxes" and trying to get to higher vampire... During that talk before the Vampire attack on Toussiant, she was so annoying, that if ending would've let me exchange her life for Detlaff's i would do it in a heartbeat. Both Syanna and Dettlaff are tragic characters (and exceptionally written), i do get why Syanna did what she did, and i get Dettlaff, why she wants her dead. But Annarieta? She showed her true face during B&W story, especially after what Syanna said to you.
Perfect ending for me would've be: "Dettlaff lives, but leaves Touissant for some solitary with some lesser vampires (Bruxa, Alpa etc.). Annarieta would've be dead and Syanna either leaves some place unknown, or stay and tries to rebuild what was destroyed by Vampires during attack.

@@HanithSVK I can kinda understand Anarietta’s decisions up until the very end where she have that confrontation with Syanna. First of all, she is a human and above that she’s a noble so it easy to expect her ignorance about monsters in general. Except for those who live in areas that have monsters like Velen, most human think they’re superior to all the other kinds, let along comprehending the fact that higher vampires are far more superior to them. Therefore there’s no way in hell she would compromise with a monster, especially when it involves with her sister. What irritates me is that she just blatantly denied all the fucked up shit Syanna had done, from murdering the knights to the attack of Beauclair. Obviously there should have been a trial for Syanna, but instead of that, we have the “let’s hug and make up”. It’s so out of character for Anarietta to be that irrational.

@@GummeeHater01 It's more than that. The writers are creating a complex villain and sympathetic character, something occasionally seen in other literature and media. It is designed to challenge the opinions of the reader or viewer, thereby constructing a compelling case to side with the 'villain.'

A great scene that elicits both emotion and thought: you're at first unnerved that Regis would dare bring The Beast to meet with the Duchess, and that you are now- probably- surrounded by 3 vampires. But then rationality kicks in: if any one of them had wanted her dead, it would have happened by now and short of an exceptional witcher or a powerful mage, they likely wouldn't be stopped.
Davito2000 Each of the three wanted her alive at that point. In fact, if anyione tried to hurt her that evening they would have ran into 3 grumpy vamps and a legendary witcher.

She might not have known that she was surrounded by vampires, but her conversation with Geralt at the end makes it clear that she intuited that Dettlaff was a sad man. She intentionally turned the topic of conversation away from a morbid topic and to a happier if more banal topic, one focused on drawing out Dettlaff a bit and hearing about his life.
TRIVIA: The English voice actress of Anna Henrietta is MyAnna Buring, currently playing Tissaia in the NETFLIX adaptation of The Witcher.
This scene, along with Regis' requests (I couldn't bring myself to deny his requests for peaceful solution), was the exact reason I wanted Dettlaff to survive. I don't agree with him attacking the city at all, but he did it to demand justice be done. Besides the note of Regis, "Last thought before I sleep", really showcases that he actually does care for Dettlaff, and Geralt owes helping him.
But of course being a completionist.. I took the ribbon and thus Dettlaff went crazy with anger thinking we had tricked him. That made me upset.

I believe "Attacking the city" decision was due to sloppy writing and bad story development. The game is marvelous by all means, but this quest-line went downhill after finding Syanna. Vampires give the impression that they want to be left alone and they have a desire to be not found, not noticed. Dettlaff's attacking the city with an army of lesser Vampires is totally not in character, given the fact above, and given the fact that he felt shame for murdering people to begin with (cutting off his hand after the murder). It is also unlikely that someone who is friends with Regis, and has lived for centuries gets impatient because they cannot wait for a couple more days, or impatient enough not to devise an alternative plan with people they previously confided in, to talk to Syanna.
I don't think this was problem. He was angry, furious, his judgment was clouded. As Regis said, in some sense Detlaff is naive(look little like a child to me), he doesn't know what the deception or lie is. He preffers company of lesser vampires before humans, cause those vampires don't lie, but not because they can't, but because they appreciate the company of others vampires(they don't care if it is a lesser or higher).
You assuming it is ''sloppy'' is an inability to accept people (or characters) can make choices based on emotion or passion, not reason. Why would Detlaff have to be perfectly rational? You make a mistake in your thinking.

I got nervous when both appeared, especially since I was certain Orianna was the Bruxa from the trailer. I think.
on my first playthrough i didnt realise she was a vampire. Not at this moment. After all was done i realised it. Felt stupid about it
@@2D_Stranger Orianna is actually higher vampire in game just like Regis and Dettlaff. Bruxae can't take fully human for, There was just confusion with that trailer that came out years before where they portrayed her as Bruxa. I think it was just because they wanted to make a cool trailer with a monster but they didn't settle on her character yet at that time. Later they reused her model. But yeah, she's definitely a Higher one :)

Orianna is a Bruxa and Bruxae are also considered higher vampires. She probably is a particularly old/powerful one though.
It's only a game.... but you can actually *feel* the room shift when Dettlaf arrives, and even increase when he moves to his seat... He hasn't even spoken a word at that point! marvelous storytelling that.

One of the few moments Geralt felt vulnerable. He mentions in the books that he's not sure if he could defeat Regis. He struggled with Detlaff, and now he realizes Orlena is also a vampire, possibly a Higher Vampire. Not to mention hes completely unarmed as well. Such a cool moment, its very rare Geralt seems like hes nervous, this was one of those moments, Anna being completely oblivious to whats really going on is the cherry on top, not realizing that if conversation turned sour she would be dead before she even realized what was happening.

I loved this dialouge/scene. So well made, coreographed and everything. Especially when Detlaff and Regis enter the scene.
The Orianna vampire reveal was masterful. As soon as I saw Regis and Dettlaff walking up behind her I was like "I fucking knew this DLC would involve high society vampires"
It never dawned on me that Oriana was a vampire in my first playthough, in retrospect the way she defeated the attacker and trashed the room is enough of a hint.
That and the B&W trailer :D something MUST have changed with Geralt as the years passed since Blood & Wine. Maybe a betrayal, or he just ran out of monsters to kill :P the Witcher, brave and bold, paid in coin or gold. Great scene!
@@mikfhan Nah, I think Orianna slipped. Maybe someone discovered the truth of her Orphanage. Let us also not forget that initially Dettlaff does send legions of the dark on Toussain until Geralt pleads a bargain with him. So people were likely very terrified of vampires and the like as of that moment.
I clocked it during this scene, big give away when she walked in with the two vampires and she clearly knows what’s going on with Detlaff.
I suspected it when she said that she’s known Regis for literal ages. That’s why I chose the “You sound surprised,” option. The whole can’t believe that he would have something in common with a witcher line confirmed it for me.
One of the best scenes I’ve seen in a video game. I struggle to think of a scene in another game that built tension this masterfully. I was immediately put on edge when Regis walked in with Detlaff, and with the less-than-subtle hints at Oriana being a vampire as well added to that uneasy feeling. That things might boil over at any moment. And that they pulled off a scene like that purely through the dialogue, setting, and music was extremely impressive. Best game.
The voice, the accent, the class... hearing how Regis speak make want to throw up at my own voice
8:33 I like how that deciding for an answer adds to the drama - Geralt just looking at Regis, saying nothing, doing nothing, probably against his better judgment, and then "few I can rely on like I can on Regis". Regis just brought the "object" of Geralt's contract, a killer, a beast (we don't know yet that Dettlaff is actually a victim of a true beast ) right under his nose and Geralt does nothing and is like "This really looks like a huge shitshow but I trust you beyond words, bro". and Regis then slightly nods with this relief and thanks. There is so much going on that is not verbalized, under the surface so to say and that makes this scene so, so good. Such good writing.

Realizing "A night to remember" trailer is an epilogue for this,i have more questions than answers.
Given that the scene probably isn't her orphanage and we see Toussaint in the background, I'm thinking Anna or someone (depending on how long after ANTR takes place) put a bounty on Orianna. She probably slipped somewhere.

what exactly was she going to do if she did find out then and there? if anything Geralt would be killed and he isn't going to foolishly jump into fight a higher vampire with no prep time, you do know Geralt has been killed by normal people before right?

I agree 100%, and even that what Geralt say is true. It is sad if people get treated like that for something they had nothing to decide this. And that some people do this horrible things because of this treatment.

Absolute masterclass of a scene here. The most powerful woman in Toussaint, a Master Witcher and THREE Vampires sit together and discuss matters of grave importance... And dresses.
I picked up on Orianna being a Vampire mere seconds before she mentioned she knew Regis and had for ages. But it is so subtly confirmed throughout the scene.
Detlaff, who doesn't know how to lie properly by Regis's own words, subtly apologising to Geralt for everything, and asking for his help even. Must have taken everything he had to do so.
And just... There's Tension, but there's an air of calm as well. No matter ho good he is, I doubt even Geralt could fight Orianna and Detlaff at once, but Regis has brought them together and has such faith in the goodness of all his friends that they will remain calm and collected. And his faith is rewarded. He is able to bring Geralt around further to his side.
I played this for the first time and I was just smiling. It reminds me of the fantastic writing found in early Game of Thrones, as an example. Fantasy Politics, Court Intrigue and Plots are always so fascinating, especially when they are nuanced and have depth.
This scene in particular, scenes with ODimm and final Regis and Geralt scene is the proof of top tier writing and execution! Excuse me I gotta pick up my jaw from floor

As much as I love the dialogue in this scene, this part here should have set alarm bells ringing in Henrietta's head. She's not stupid.

She didn't imagine that her duchy had become a haven for vampires, so she only realized that Detlaff was a sad man with regrets in his past. That's why she turned the topic to him, to his past, and to something happier than monsters.
Or maybe this was here to show how stupid she really is. Remember, beagles are better than witches, and when presented with evidence the correct answer is "I don't believe it"
She is very stupid if you read the books. No different in the game.
Also we have the benefit of having this knowledge as we are playing the game.

Don't get me wrong, Geralt is a total badass, but nobody at that table had any reason to be afraid of him at that point.
They don't even feel fear, so that's another point, but I am certain that many higher monsters mistake witchers to be mere humans, when they are not in any way, human. Geralt is in all sense a monster, a relentless one, with the abilities of actual animals and monsters within him, the raw destructive power of a minor sorcerer and let's not forget his higher than normal detective intelligence and relentelssly trained sword combat (not to mention he usually has a sword that contains alloys and metals that are close to science fiction level of lethality). Combine these and you get a being that is most likely the very definition of death. Needless to say, if one wrongs geralt or gives him serious reason to kill oneself, one better give up.
Unless one is the Unseen Elder. Geralt doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against the Unseen Elder. Given enough time, Regis and Detlaff would become as powerful as the Unseen Elder was too.

@@notenoughgarlic Yeah, it is possible that they'll do another Witcher game, definitely with someone new. I think a lot of it depends on how successful Cyberpunk is. If the studio has success with that, they'll probably be inspired to undertake the huge effort to make another Witcher game.

This is late, but I think it’s bc she’s the most unique looking woman out of all the other models. While none of the main female characters look exactly the same, you can definitely see the similarities in their features. Orianna looks like a real person.

I have fallen in love with Dettlaff, Regis and Geralt. They are so cool and handsome that I even told all my friends about them and pretended they were real in my head and towards my friends. Imagine if Regis and detlaf has been at Kaer Morhen when the Hunt attacked! Oh man that would have been a FIGHT.
I think with their help, the might even won against Wild Hunt, but characters like Eredin and Caranthir would be a big challenge to Regis or Detlaff, since both Eredin and Caranthir have powerful magic and great combat technicues.

I love how at 10:38 there is a bit of foreshadowing on Regis's part. He states, "vampires, a witcher and the dutchess" leaving out Orianna, and then finding out what she is later... 😅

The amount of tension puts quality movies to shame really. Best expansion ever, for me it felt better than the main game.

this was the most epic spine chilling moment in entire blood and wine quest, anyone can sense the tension between Detlaaf and Geralt .

Okay so, I'm playing the dlc now a couple years late, but is it supposed to be super obvious that Orianna is a vampire? I'm hoping that doesn't turn out to be a twist. Regardless, the unspoken dialogue in this scene is excellent. Really enjoyed the tonal set up.

Pretty good, I'd say if Regis hadn't met with a wall incident... he would have made quick work of many wild hunt opponents for Geralt.

That's one thing that just kept buzzing around in my mind once I saw these vampires in action. I just kept thinking, damn, imagine if Geralt had these guys helping him with the hunt? Those fuckers wouldn't have stood a chance.
@@OTBASH not really considering Both Eredin and Caranthir were powerful fighters and both knew a lot of powerful magic. The would be definitely a challenge to Regis or Detlaff, but normal Wild Hunt soldiers wouldn't stand a chance
@@JudgeHolden2003 I can understand Caranthir, but Eredin would get demolished easily. He isn't anywhere near as skilled in magic as Caranthir, and Geralt was eventually able to best him in their fight. Detlaff would've killed Geralt in their first encounter if Regis didn't save him.
@@OTBASH in games Eredin sure looked weak, but he was extremly powerful in Books, So i think he would stand a chance against a higher vampire
