From this play test, I have already determined that I'm going to re-work the Action Point system. At present the 'dice system' has variables that are much too large. I was thinking of doing 'cards' instead but I have now decided to utilize a 'chit pull' system that allows me to control the wide swings in luck much better.
Gilbert - I'm sold! Have enjoyed playing both your other games. This seems like the best one yet! I'll need the movie score to "Last of the Mohicans" when I play this-). Interestingly, I own Wilderness War and Bayonets and Tomahawks. Both have some interesting elements, but not enough history IMO. Yours I like because it includes notable locations (William/Henry, Ft. Edward). You have a knack for creating games with good balances between playability and historicity. Any timeline on this one? Keep em coming, my friend!
Thank you Paul for the kind comments. I had owned "Wilderness War" for years but somehow was never satisfied when playing it. That old game "Mohawk", although crude at the time resonated with me somehow. As I work on this game I realize that some of the concepts are a bit out dated and I have modified the movement system in this game. Watching the videos helps me improve it. I play tested it yesterday and it was much smoother. Yeah, I also have soundtracks from period film going on a I play also.
I’m assuming it infused your design of America At War? Btw, there is recent scholarship on credit/currency squeezes in the 13 colonies after the 7 Years War leading to many bankruptcies, etc., all of which added to the Locckean impulses. I tried yo send you a link to a podcast and s summary and an article but it seems youtube deleted them. If interested, perhaps start with JAR (Journal of American Revolution) podcast about two episides ago (“Bedlam”). On another point, given the currrnt situation, I’m starting to think the Loyalists were correct …
I am really enjoying watching you play your game. Congratulations! I hope to make one myself one day. When is it available for purchase and where will we be able to buy it?
Oh games take about 2 years to produce, even when you have a publisher. If this ever comes out, it would be my 4th published game. But I'm still play testing it now. In theory, if it was accepted for publication tomorrow (which it isn't) it wouldn't be available for at least 2 years. I intend to bring it to the Compass Expo next year and then we can see what will happen.
Why are you calling the Indian forces Coureurs de Bois? Certainly, they were woods runners, but the term was used to address the private French-Canadians who were trading with the Indians, not the Indians themselves. Also, I know almost nothing about the French and Indian War. However, my Impression was that the lack of French support was due to its activities on the continent, not the British fleet. Is that mistaken? Great and admirable effort by you.
It appears you are not understanding the units that I have featured in the game. The 'Coureur de Bois' units are French Canadian and are blue. The 'First Nations' units (Indians) are all in green. I have never said that the Coureur units ARE Indian units, they are definitely not. However, in the GAME the Coureur units are used to 'activate' the Indian units. This is in accordance with history where Coureur units often accompanied Indian units in battle. The video is a 'play through' of a concept that I am working on, it is NOT a tutorial on how the game works. I'm thinking now that I should dispense with an 'play throughs'.

For playtest components, Gilbert, those look pretty darn good.
Thanks for the compliment. I try my best and in this case the 1" counters makes it much easier.

The game looks great, Gilbert! The publisher is going to have a hard time improving your component's physical and graphic quality, too! Cheers!
Thanks Joe. Still plugging away at it. I overhauled the Action Mechanism yesterday.
take good care of yourself sir we enjoy your shows and games😄
I appreciate that. I am very much on the mend and continue to work on the game.
Also btw, I read a few pages from different books each night one of which you suggested: “The War for America 1775-1783” by Piers Mackey.
Definitely an excellent book from the English side of things.

@@XLEGION1You are right. The distinction you explained is not one I understood. I think the activation of the Indians by the CdeB is what confused me.
The First Nation / Native American talk is abit tedious and takes away from this clip - they are still Indians
Totally agree.
