As more and more “normal” brands start including safety features that save yourself and others, charging $4k for those seems a little insulting.

I just did a test drive today on VW Golf (regular version, not GTI) and it was so satisfying. Sadly so few people in North American are asking for this practical 4 door hatch. I seriously think if I have the chance to test drive the Audi Q3 I may actually prefer the the ride quality of the much lighter VW Golf, not to mention I can almost get 2 Golfs with the price of 1 Q3.

  • @Yormsane

The Venza LE is my current favourite in this segment, but having just checked out a Q3 after watching Tom's excellent review, I think this Audi comes a very close 2nd to the super-smooth and ultra-efficient Toyota. A pleasant surprise to find a German car that runs on regular gas, too.

If even a social case citizens of USA can afford to drive some 70's muscle car with V8 engine that does 10 miles per galon then why just WHY do You even bother to talk about fuel economy, do you really care or are you just laughing to the face of us less fortunate !!!! As east european (yes even here on the other side of the World we watch your car reviews) I must admit anything less then 45 miles per gallon is to much for our average life standard that's why 80% of cars here are diesels and yes the last thing on our mind are ecology issues (sorry Greta). Just to compare ours and yours average life standard if you are interested to read it of course. Here are some facts I found on internet : USA average monthly income per person is 3000 US dollars, 1 gallon of gas (3.7 liter) 3.00 US dollar , licence, registration and insurance for average car are between 150 and 300 US dollars per year !!!!!!!!! Correct me if I'm wrong please !! Here in East EU average monthly income per person is 700 US dollars and 1 liter of gasoline is 1.57 us dollars ( yes just 1 liter not gallon), car registration and insurance for average car (with 4 or even less cylinders and about 100 hp ) is about 450 US dollars per year !!!!!! So I wonder is it just autonomy of the car that matters because you mention mpg's or is there something else I'm not aware of !!!? Still even though i criticized sometimes I still watch and love your channel, best regards from Croatia.

    • @stephenhendricks103

Can't speak for Croatia but one reason that many Americans opt for personal transportation for daily transportation lies in the fact that we fail to invest in public transportation. That makes the relative economy of our vehicles a priority especially for those who cannot afford a luxury brand.

My question is channel related: how does your channel do for watch time? If you, Alex (AlexonAutos) and Sofyan (Redline) post videos about a car at the same time, I tend to watch yours because it's informative and entertaining with a smaller time commitment, but most Cartubers seem to think longer is better.

E Brown One of the reasons why Tom is my favorite is because unlike the other two, he doesn’t drone on endlessly like a bad CVT, or basically recite the owner’s manual by explaining every warning light, while leaving how the car ACTUALLY DRIVES till the very end of a 20 - 30 minute episode.

The new Q3 has lots of issues. The Prestige, highest line model, doesn't have have memory driver's seat or heated steering wheel. Things you get on a loaded Mazda Cx5. It's at least 5k overpriced. There are also a lot of reports of people having stalling issues and leaking sunroofs.

44k? Hmmm. This or the better looking XC60 or the much better priced RDX? It seems like you have to REALLY want an Audi to rationalize the Q3, esp since you can get better value in the same category. Thinking about seat comfort and quality of stereo as much as fun to drive factor.

Hi Tom. Already subbed, great video as always!
We tested a 2019 Q3 a few months back because we were drawn to the size and overall style. It drove well enough, but we were disappointed by the cheap interior materials, especially the door pulls that are cheaply painted and will show wear with normal use. Fuel economy was poor , and the price racked up fast.
We compared the 2019 BMW X1 which was a better fit in many aspects, but ended up with a sensibility optioned 2020 X3 which proved to be a great value.

Question here, I did see the cargo space review but can it hold a 29' baggage and a medium size baggage together? Cause my previous model can't which is a disappointment for me.
Also, can we move forward back row to give cargo more space?
Another disappointment you already mentioned. I mean this is a premium luxury car, even though entry level, but too many hard plastic spotted. Like one third of my money actually goes for the luxury feeling, they could do a better job.

It seems that Europe is more tolerant of these performance characteristics, and the US is not. Wassup Tom! No question at all. But I do want to take the time to tell you that I really enjoy your videos and I even make my partner watch them with me on the big screen in our living room. Your videos are very high quality and I appreciate all the work that you put in them. I also appreciate that you share real life specific traits about the vehicle like the sometimes clunky auto stop/start systems and that you compare them to other systems (Hey Buick LaCrosse). Small things like these are a huge help when trying to get a feel for a vehicle that you cant afford, lol. Please continue to make these awesome & informative videos. Your superfan stationed in Germany , Brandon.

How does VW get away with not offering a hybrid or PHEV version of this car? E-tron is nice but very pricey.

    44K!?? Lol, it looks like it’s 30K.
For 44K the new Defender 90 is a much better choice

Always love the reviews Tom... You are like a little kid aren't you? That's what makes you likeable, friendly, outgoing, and best of all, "Believable," when doing these reviews.

Tom, does Audi typically manufacture their own automatic transmissions, or are they sourcing them from ZF, Aisin, etc.?

Would you take the looks of the Sportback over this regular Q3? Since the regular one doesn't have the biggest/most spacious rear anyway, does that make the Sportback a better pick?

Thanks Tom! For anyone considering the Q3, please be sure to drive the Volvo XC40, too. I ended up preferring the XC40. If I could only crack open my wallet and go back into debt.....
