I can't recommend Dr. Lori's "Thrift with me" videos enough! The knowledge this smart lady shares is invaluable and I appreciate how she gets right to the point without a lot of introduction and unnecessary chatter.
Dr. Lori, I'm torn. My favorite series you do used to be the real bargains and the people's stories, but thrifting with you is giving it some serious competition! I know that you can stumble across amazing treasures - once got a box of vintage costume jewelry that also had a platinum, diamond, and large (gorgeous!) Opal from the 1920's in it, as well as an 18k white black onyx and diamond signet ring. It does happen! And thank you so much for providing us with so much information about what to look for in so many different categories. I used to focus primarily on vintage costume jewelry, but have definitely expanded my horizons thanks to your channel.
I really dig these shopping w/Dr. Lori videos. It helps to imagine being in the store and getting in the right mindset. I dig the other videos too but this brings real world experiences to cement the information. Thank you!
Oh lord. I used to be a server at Bennigans. There was a stained glass lamp hanging over the tables. No matter how long you worked there you would forever be slamming your head into them when you bent over to clean the table.
I like finding art by high school students who still have the passion. Someone somewhere has pieces of my lovely art. My sister has a corner in my home of her works. She was very talented…still is.
Know what I lovemost about your thrifting videos? YOU seem to be having a lot of fun!! Seeing the mission style rocker reminded me of a funny story---I lived for 30 years in a neighborhood full of early 190's craftsman style houses, I moved in just as Barbra Streisand built her craftsman house & began collecting, so prices were going sky-high. Afriend &I were Sunday window-shopping in an antique district when we came upon a closed store with a large handwrittensign proclaiming that they had plenty of "cortisone oak" furniture. We laughed until we almost passed out---you will no doubt have figured that they were talkng about "quarter-sawn oak." Craftsman/mission furniture & all the pottery crashed in price eventually---I had friends who spent hundreds collecting Roseville only to find it in antique stores for literally $15. I guess now it's back up b/c of cottagecore or whatever. That would be an interesting video, talking about the trends, such as cabbage patch kids, Beanie Babies, etc. Seems like the pattern is crazy, crash, then some recovery? Anyway, thanks, & keep an eye out for that cortisone oak!
I really like these thrift with me videos. They're very educational because you explain in detail the items that you are looking at. I always learn something new when I what these videos. I hope you keep on making them. Thank you Dr. Lori.
I really enjoy these segments, especially when you go through the furniture section. My husband is restoring all of my 2x great grandmother's furniture that I inherited and I like when you give little details regarding the structure of pieces.
First time I’ve watched you in the thrift store, so much fun and informative! Fills in the blanks when I visit and don’t quite know the worth of the pieces. Hope you continue this forum with all your knowledge.
The block print picture was cool. one time I was with my art teacher going to the estate sales and we found two two that were likely brought to the States after WW2. 50 or so years ago. We took one to have it frame at a local gallery, and in the window was a piece they were selling by the same artist. $800! Art is the best treasure!
I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying my videos. It is not the videographer you heard; it's me. I have a speech impediment with which I have struggled since childhood.
Dr.Lori Where would one go to sell the things you say are worth more money than Goodwill is selling them for? Or where to find the antique buyers? Just curious about that.
I love watching your videos. I always buy artwork. I rent so I have to keep the colors neutral, so I color my walls with original artwork! I have one print that was printed in 1787 when Marie Antoinette still had her head about her!
I love these short videos you have recently begun uploading on a weekly basis, Dr. Lori. All the different things you talk about are informative and we get to see and hear from you.😇 Thank you for giving us all your time and expertise! Love from Las Vegas, NV!!👍😁
You're amazing! Thank you for the helpful video. My mom was was a watercolor artist that went on to learn Chinese painting. It's very difficult. You snagged some treasures for sure!
Loved the video some nice items you showed us...I confess if I find CHEAP stained glass shades...and I've found several for 5 to 10 dollars I turn them upside down put the coconut plant liner in and use it for hanging plants on my porch in large macrame hangers. I love finding other uses for pretty things.
These thrift shop series are so much fun to watch. I love thrifting and garage saling. I'm learning so much just from her videos. Thank you so much for taking your time and for the information.😊😊
