My mother went to heaven Dec 2020. I have shoe boxes full of her jewelry. Some of her pieces go back as for as the 30's. Beautiful jewelry. I really don't know what to do with all of it. I've seen where people make mosaic arrangements and frame them. I'm so glad to find this Channel. I need lots of help and ideas.

Thank you so much for all the info , I am starting to resell costume jewelry and I just bought a small zip lock bag for $20. That had 7 necklaces and 4 rings in it. Ended up being diamond and sapphire stones and some topaz. With all 14 or 10k gold settings. I was thrilled to say the least

Thank you for being so thorough about this type of jewelry. Just found a chest after my father passed away that has a secret compartment that is filled with so many pieces of extremely old jewelry that I have no idea where to begin. This channel is going to be very important for me as I go through this process of identifying what the heck I am looking at. The pieces are in the original boxes and are laying in what appears to be wool shaped as cotton and the pieces are different from anything I’ve ever seen before. It’s a bit overwhelming actually.

I’m so glad I watch your channel, being nót the older of 2 daughters, after my Mom passed away last year, my sister gave me a couple of pieces, which I am so grateful to have... but, having nó knowledge of Vintage costume jewelry, she gave me a box fúll of the ‘odd ducks’ as she referred to it. It has quite a few most beautiful screw-on earring sets, mány single clip-ons with lovely Austrian Crystals in and no less than 7 different strands of faux pearls, broken but 5 are very good quality and worth the repair. I got a whole box of beautifully polished semi-precious stones, like rose quartz, tiger’s eye, opal(!), and many others I will have to have identified, but they are truly lovely. Thank you for your very helpful channel, I love watching you and your energy, always the same. Stay well, stay blessed 🌺

I have an original newspaper clipping dated 1919 that has a complete poem on it, called "The Little Shoes." My great grandmother lost two little girls, Ruby and Violet, during the flu epidemic from 1917-1920, one was two and the other 6 wks. It's a long poem about two pairs of shoes and the little feet that once wore them, it's really beautiful. I don't know the author, it may even be by my GG as poetry writing runs in my family.

Well they don’t call you the Doctor for nothing. Exceptionally informative. Thank you 🥰. I have a string of what we think are fake pearls that we took to a “jewellery” buyer once who couldn’t tell if they were real or extremely good fakes. We know they are at least 70 if not 80 or 90 years old. The family members have since passed decades ago so there is no source for information on them. But from you have said, I will dig them out of storage and check them tomorrow. 😉

I found 2 Henkel Dior costume from Germany from 60s that lost a couple pave stones but plan to restore and resell. It's worth looking for the designer costume jewelry - highly collectible. Same company produced entire time and Dior eventually bought the company. Great channel very informative. Will sub.

I absolutely love this style of video (the other ones where you're out appraising are helpful, but these are so helpful its ridiculous).
Thanks to a couple of your other jewelry videos, I found an unmarked (well I think the tag with the marking may have fallen off) piece of Benedikt NY Jewelry for 2 dollars on a thrift. I didn't know what it was until I did research, but I knew it was valuable because of your videos talking about stones and looking for detail on the back.
Please keep these types of videos coming! I absolutely love them. Once I have enough of a stockpile of items to justify it (and I learn more), I'm for sure scheduling something with you!
You have taught me more in the past month than I could have ever learned by myself. As a new reseller looking for valuable stuff to sell to collectors that appreciate them, I'm hitting the ground running. I've found so much great stuff I always just thought of as junk, and my whole perception is changing. The good buys are much more frequent than the bad buys, and I'm so excited!
    Seriously, thank you.

Dr Lori, I don't understand what you mean by "stippling" on the back of the 1960s circle pin. Could you explain, please? I'm so enjoying your videos! :)

    • @DrLoriV

Stippling is the loose pattern in the metal on the verso of some pieces of costume jewelry. Happy to help. Glad the videos are giving you the instruction you need to succeed.

Great tip about 1 earring, can be used as a pendant. I have 1 Givenchy earring, now I can use it still. Thanks. Video full of information. 🏆

Lots of great information in this video! I love the idea of using the clip on earring as a pendant on a necklace, that is brilliant! Also very curious what type of jewelry box that is because it’s huge and I love the way it opens and lays everything out, and I definitely would like to find one like that.

I do that often with the clip ons. They hurt my ear lobes. I like them as makeshift pendants.
