Norco Sight VLT A1 2022 | First Ride Review | EMTB

  • Norco released 3 new electric bikes this year - the Fluid, Sight, and Range VLT. They all share the same frame but have different geometry thanks to different length forks and shocks, and different linkages.
    I wanted a "do all" ebike, so when the opportunity to pick up a Sight A1 came along I jumped on it. Owning the non-electric Sight, getting used to the new rig was pretty easy, and adjusting to shimano motor has also been pretty intuitive.
    Join me for a lap around the Loftus trails in the RNP and I'll talk about the bike and how I'm feeling about it.

    Great review. Loftus looks fun and so does that Fluid. 👍😎🇦🇺
    I'm out at Orange NSW with last year's Fluid FS2 and it's a GREAT single-track down-country bike for the mount near here. Kinda wish I'd gone electric but all good.

    Good review of eMTB, Loftus is a great trail for eMTB with so many trails to ride there all the way to Heathcote.

      Definitely! And you can link it up with some trails near the pipeline too.

    Awesome mate, well done on the purchase.
    I have a sneaking suspicion you'll be on the E more than your analogues from this point on.
    Love my E, they do chew through your usual maintenance type components but it's a small price to pay for the non-stop smile you have on most rides. And you're right too, single trail climbing becomes fast n flowy Superflow stages.
    I do believe Norco should be giving you something gratis, eg. Another bike.... for the ongoing advertising you do for them.

      I'm trying to ride my Range as often as my VLT, but I will most likely sell my other trail bikes as I mostly ride them solo and I just can't see myself reaching for one of them when I could grab the ebike and get more riding in the same amount of time. I definitely don't need another bike but I am getting some help from Norco Aus/99 Bikes, which works out great since I would be riding the bikes anyway 😍

    Shimano has the easiest ways to increase the speed cap as well. Easily reversible, and it makes the bike that much more useful I'd imagine. Good choice!

    Well. Hope it's reputation lives-up to reality. Purchased a Norco VLT A2. After searching for five months for an available alloy e-bike, the local bike-shop got me a good deal, from another bike shop with the A2, in-stock & is shipping-it up from...Texas. I'm heavy for an e-bike at 260 pounds. Just want a comfy alloy FS e-rig for commuting to work and light trail riding. Gett'n her with the 720 watt battery & a spare.

    I think this is the only Sight A1 video on YT, lol. Im a big guy and have a budget so i thought id rather go Aluminum with better components, than go into a C2. Do you also think the A1 would be a good value compared to C1 or C2 for the same reason?

    • @MTBMcPhee
      @MTBMcPhee  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the A1 is better value than the C2, and I wouldn’t worry about the frame material because they are big heavy ebikes anyway. The wheelset is awful on A1 and C2 so factor that into your decision vs. the C1

    • @DirtRoadRemedy
      @DirtRoadRemedy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MTBMcPhee thanks for the reply, this A1 is 3k Canadian cheaper than the C1, so I'll compromise on wheels. Might even get a second set with studded winter tires. We could have snow in another 2 months, lol

    • @DirtRoadRemedy
      @DirtRoadRemedy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bought this exact bike late last year, with inspiration from this video. Love it! I did just as I said, bought a set of studs for winter, and other than not having a fat bike for winter riding, I am having a blast. I don't feel like buying another damn bike, so I just stay to packed stuff for winter. I can basically ride as far as I want, but this emtb keeps the heart rate up for the fitness side of things, but this is definitely enough bike for any riding I want to do. Thanks again for the vid!

    Great review. I’m thinking of buying myself an ebike for my 50th and looking at the Sight A1 it possibly range C2. Leaning towards the sight for similar reasons to you. Now you’ve had the bike for a while would you still buy it over a range?

    • @MTBMcPhee
      @MTBMcPhee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd be interested to try a Range VLT with a 170 fork but for everything I'm riding the Sight feels just right. There are some killer deals on them at the moment too 👍

    Thanks for the review, looks awesome! The Sight & Range E-MTB seem very similar. I had a regular non - powered Sight, it was a great bike. I decided to order the Range, I figured the extra travel & 38mm forks would suit the E-bike better. Just wondering your thoughts on why the Sight would be an advantage over the Range, considering there's not much difference in price?

    • @MTBMcPhee
      @MTBMcPhee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My mate has the range and it’s also awesome, especially the paint of the A1! It was a close call between the two for me but I went with the Sight because I thought it would be more versatile than the Range, and I feel like the air shock makes it feel a bit more lively and fun on mellower trails. So far I’m happy with my choice but if I end up riding mostly gravity then I might switch to a range in the future.

      Just to let you know - Sight VLT and Range VLT are exactly the same frame. Only difference is the yoke which you can buy separately from Norco. This means you can turn your Sight VLT into a Range VLT by changing Shock, Fork and Yoke
