Very informative, you definitely have the Jim Green addiction ! I just have the African Ranger in Fudge and The Vellie, absolutely love the Vellies in Khaki rough out for summer, my fave. loving your vids
Their vellies are the best - my first JG boot was a brown Vellie I wore for work, wore them down good, and ended up getting a bunch of other styles, the AR, AR barefoot, and even got some shoelies in houston black for a more formal work pair.
3 boots with the same build? You really like that style. My first pair of Jim Green boots were African Ranger Barefoot in Natural Veg Tan. I had never heard of Jim Green before this year but I got hooked. I got 2 pairs of Vellies in different leathers next, 1 in smooth tan leather and 1 in chestnut roughout, because they're half the price of the African Ranger boots and sizes were quickly being sold out. After that, I decided to get a custom pair of Shoellies on the barefoot last, which makes them wider than the stock Shoellies. I got them in buffalo leather with olive stitch down thread, just like your custom African Ranger pair. I wore my roughout vellies on a recent trip out of town and did a lot of walking in 90 degree heat sockless with shorts. They did great. My feet didn't hurt.
Great boots! I only wished they had a leather insole/lasting board instead of the fiber board. I asked JG this and the price of them would then match the barefoot versions which I totally would not mind at all. You can get them custom made, but the shipping is just brutal at 55 bucks.
@@xplorsocal2222 Yeah, it's understandable in a interview with Carl Murawski he talked a bit about this. Basically South Africa is not in a good place atm and their postal service has basically collapsed, so they rely on private companies like DHL to ship custom boots.

I have a pair of Barefoot African Ranges in Huston Brown. With wear and brushing they don't look nubuck anymore, lol. Not polished or matte either. Something between. Anyway, I want a second pair in the new Bronco leather. Thanks for the upload, I enjoyed you sharing your boots with us.
I've been wearing the regular brown Rangers for my everyday boots for a year. I switch over to Danner for Winter boots, if it's snowy or below 20 degrees. So excited because I just got the Houston Green Barefoot Rangers, but haven't started wearing them yet. Planning for AR8's or a custom order Summer 2025.
I have a Razorback with steel toe. Heavy. Which is what you expect with steel toe. I would consider Numzaan next. Your 2nd pair, the brown, need oil and polish.
Instead of a "what I bought" video how about a "how they feel" video? For example, is it worth waiting on the Buffalo leather for the added durability or do they seem similar to the Fudge? Is the break-in bad for the Buffalo? Etc
Can you comment on the decision to get double lasting in your custom pair, and the differences in feel, weight, and performance vs the standard version you’ve been wearing?
I went with the double lasted option because I had been wearing my Baobab a lot and the it is double lasted, I like the feel of it. Hard to say on the weight difference because I also got the leather midsole which added more weight too. I don’t have enough wear in them to really give good feedback on the long term performance. I can say that they are very comfortable and the toe seems to have more structure than the single lasted version. Thanks for watching, don’t forget to sub 😂.
I had to get the custom boots to get the barefoot in buffalo hide. I think the barefoot buffaloes may become a standard offering like the conventional Rangers in buffalo.
I see Jim Green COLLECTION I click. Lol great video!
@@Jake-ns4iq I’ll let some new Jim Green videos up soon, some comparisons and updates. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
@@xplorsocal2222 Your welcome buddy. I'll be watching for that next video.

Once you get a pair from the custom shop you will want several more.

This is an excellent channel! I just ordered a pair of the standard brown JG’s!

Yeah, the extra shipping cost for the customs is a bummer but they do have to ship them from South Africa so I understand it.

JG has a premium offering with a leather midsole on their website now.

lol I also have my collection, I’ve purchased four so far!
Nice! Which models did you get?
I have 3 pair, 2 in Buffalo leather and a custom pair. Just got a pair in Buffalo for my cousin's birthday present.
Wow, nice gift for your cousin!!!
@@xplorsocal2222 I hope he gets them before he heads back to Africa next month.
I have several pairs .. the crazy horse is awesome .. as are the buffalo . And one off horween pair
Nice, a Horween pair!
I have barefoot in crazy horse and a recrafted tactical version on the Ranger I had done
You find the sizing consistent? How does sizing compare to your iron rangers?
Yes, I have several pairs and they all fit the same. They run true to size while the iron rangers run big.
Do they fit true to size?
Yeah, I usually wear an eight and these fit perfectly in their size eight. Thanks for watching!

I want a pair in green with the frog grip sole.
That would be a great combo, the frog grip sole is nice and the green is a cool color.
By your experience, how the different leather affects in feel and which leather you recommend as a first boot for daily use?
The fudge is a great daily use boot, it broke in really fast.

Cool collection!😁 I wanna try the Stockman Chelsea so bad😍
