Making a new valve assembly for my TalonDor 257 cal

  • A 10+ minute video of my buddy/machinist Doug machining me a new valve body assembly for my TalonDor 257 cal Air Gun. I had about 3 days of machining to sort through and i used only 10 minutes of it....lol! Anymore and you guys would have been bored to death.
So this video simply shows some of the work it takes to machine a complete Valve and its assembly for the Air Force line of Air Guns. In particular, my TalonDor .257.
This valve assembly has taken my gun from 900 fps with the 74 gr FP bullet to 1000 fps with the same projectile. I get 1015 FPS on the MAX setting. That's a 100 fps increase to flatten trajectories even more and a 30+ FPE increase for added knockdown power over distance. Initial testing has shown groups to tighten up and range now increased along with harder hitting impact on reactive targets downrange.
More results to come so.....................STAY TUNED!

    Andre,
Doug's Valves make a lot of power and are totally designed differently then the way AirForce makes theirs. So the dimensions for his valve and different than AirForces. Like Doug said, if i wanted to modify the stock valve body, the amount of REWORK that would have went into it could have been the same as if he just machined me one of his. Doug also uses stronger materials and dimensions that Airforce. As with all STOCK parts, you can only go so far with power then its KABOOM!

OK but does that mean you get less shots per fill??? and is it possible to make some sort of spring loaded 6rd mag or of sometype for any of the air force rifle series guns??? i keep leaning towards buying one but i really hate the single shot.

They did not film the coffee powered down time. It does look good to a retired toolmaker.
