- Hope you enjoy this video on the Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo.
Apologies for the poor sound between approx 2 mins and 6 mins of the video. I was trialling out a new place to do my car reviews and whilst it did not seem that noisy whilst filming the videos, when it came to the editing there was a lot of background noise.
Unfortunately I was unable to re-record it due to only having access to the car for a limited time.

Just bought a monti Carlo 1.5 dsg same spec as yours , love it .
Just watched this again after watching many videos in trying to decide what car to go for. Your review really helped me make the choice as it was very in-depth but also understandable to a novice about cars. We had a Kodiaq and while it was an amazing car it got to the point where I just didn't need the size. Now have a Kamiq Monte Carlo and it really is a pleasure to drive (and look at :) ) - Thanks.

We were very disappointed by the audio when reviewing the outside of the car but sadly we were unable to redo it as we only had the car for a short time and I was unaware of the bad sound until we came to edit it.
Same here replacing my Arona excellence plus with one of these.

There is a disclaimer underneath the video warning of the poor sound (something wrong with the phone on the day of recording) for a portion of the video. I do apologise about this.
is the interior lighting on the doors and optional extra. Mine doesn’t seem to have it. And it’s the same year registration as your test car.

Well done on the order. Did you buy any extra options with it? I think there is a winter pack which includes heated windscreen washer jets. Presumably this is to defrost the windscreen? Wish they offered the heated screen like other cars… I wanted electric but that’s a paid extra also folding side mirrors £££. If you want a slimline spare wheel that an extra, they just give you the expanding foam repair kit in case you get a puncture. Still looking to purchase one though…

This car didn’t have any optional extras because this would have meant a waiting time of nearly 1 year at the time of purchase.
This car was a pre-registered one so it was already on the forecourt waiting for purchase. 😀

I’m looking to buy the Monte Carlo in the new year but I’ve seen comments elsewhere that there will be a bit of a face lift in 2023. Anyone have more news on that? Thanks for the vid by the way 👍
I’ve not heard about there being a facelift to be honest but I am aware that often with Skoda because of the vast range of options available there will often be a long waiting time for your model to be built.

Good review. I have that exact colour in Monte Carlo trim and I love it. I’ve had most other makes in my time, but the Kamiq is by far the best. The 1.5 DSG is pretty quick, especially in sport mode. You get the usual and well documented VAG electrical gremlins, but most of these are minor and few and far between, just be warned. Apart from that, great car.

It is quite good.
You can’t tell on this video so well as the sound quality was quite poor. (Broken phone!)
Does anyone know if the Kamiq has an open/close boot button or if there is a kick under opening of the boot?
There is no open/close button. You have to open and close it manually on the Monte Carlo.
I think the remote boot release is an option on Executive model ?

No sadly this one does not come with reverse cameras. If you order from the factory though you can add them on as an optional extra. I believe it was in the region of between £200-300
I ordered my kamiq monte csrlo two days ago the optional extra for the reversible camera wqs £440
Is this version available without the glass roof?
Not the Monty, but an option on other models. The best is the 1.5 TSI SEL EXEC, with the sunroof as an option.
It's surprising you can't get dual climate control on this "top spec" model and have to settle for manual aircon these days
I there may have been an option to spec it up if you bought the car from brand new but this was the standard option that was on the car when the owner bought it.
It’s not the top model, it’s the sports version. The top model is the SE L Executive. I’ve got one on order and can’t wait……
@@Jestey6 The Monte Carlo is more expensive than the SE L so that to me means it's the top model really which is why i'm surprised it doesn't have climate control as standard
@@danbrowning4000 Hi Dan. What you’re actually saying is that it’s the most expensive, so any car with a diamond encrusted steering wheel, by your reckoning would be the top model.
My take is that although it is the most expensive, by only £300, it’s only because it is being promoted in the UK, as being something different, and that does not make it the top of the range. When you look a the specs you will discover that it not only lacks climate control, it lacks many other features.
The SE L Executive is far better equipped, has the same performance, is just as economic, and is far more comfortable. And that logically must make it the top of the range.
Have you driven both models? I have. If you have not, drive both and then make a judgement.

very poor sound, should not have posted this review with this sound quality
I did put a message on the video to advise that there was poor sound in certain parts of the video.
I debated putting this review up due to this but eventually decided to give it a go.
This has actually ending up being one of our best performing and most liked videos.
I appreciate your comments about the sound however and have since got new recording equipment so this shouldn’t happen again in the future. 🙂
Get a dedicated mic, mate. The way you have filmed/recorded this is so irritating that it made me just skip the video (though it might be really informative).
I am sorry you felt this way about the video. Unfortunately I was unaware of the problem with the recording until I came to listen to it back by which time it was too late as I only had the car for one day.
I thought long and hard about whether to bother uploading it at all, but I did eventually decide to do so and am glad that I did, as it is my second best performing video on the channel (despite the obvious problem with the sound for some of it.)
I did put a disclaimer on the video about the sound and which bits were the worst for the sound.
Hope you come back to watch some more as I no longer having the recording equipment I did on this video! 😀
Volume is totally rubbish to the point i stopped watching the review
