Awesome video! You should do a Q&A video in the future! Im sure tons of people like myself wanna know about the history of NBS Welding and how you’ve obtained your wealth of knowledge on all things construction and fabrication! Thanks for posting videos I learn something everytime I watch!
Love those GRK’s as well. Beats a traditional lag bolt by a mile in terms of strength and finished appearance especially on handrail brackets. Wish they made them in shorter 3/8” shank diameter and in stainless steel. As far as paint, you’re exactly right. Whenever I have tried to paint handrails in the shop prior to delivery and installation, I always have to paint them again after installation. May as well just wait. Saves a step.
Hey JB, Great video as always!! I always pick up something from all of your videos so I though I would share one of my tricks with you. 😉 I do quite a few caps on tube and when I do these, I use one of my cheap triangle magnets and pop the cap on the center of it. Then place the magnet on the end of the tube with the cap inside the tube and tack it, pull the magnet off and weld it out. Keeps your hands free, the cap perfectly flush and don't have to hold anything. Keep up the great work my man!!💙
That is a repair I did...I was pulling my air compressor out of the house after some framing modification and when I pulled it off the porch the tank hit the porch and the entire front section broke off....I laid those 4 solid cap blocks with type S morter to fix it
Nice job CB. Some really good tips here that I'm going to use. I actually need to make a hand rail on some back door steps at a new rental house of mine. I'm only a weekend welder 😂 but I do ok. Thanks for the inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Well, if I don’t work, we will always thought it should’ve. Man I have done me a bunch of handrails and 40 years of fabricating. Proximately 10 years ago we did a tribal casino handrail system, it was a little large job ,so I broke down and bought a tubing bender, it really helped make a lot of the job easier, it made a lot of the job look better,but we still used some weld ells places . Of course had to follow all the code crap and had lots of bosses and lots of onlookers. It got to the point we had to put up some wild curtains because people were standing around watching us. The tribe finally bordered off our area so that people couldn’t get in our way. Part of it was a huge wheelchair ramp that had two returns in the middle of it , it went from one parking lot to another. Of course it had to be started in the middle of August, in the Eastern part of Washington in August. it’s done at least 100° every day, good times lol. PS good tip on the silicone and the reverse screw.
If the door was facing the street it would be much more difficult for the disabled tenant to get her mail...this is setup for her to be able to hold the handrail and get the mail without stepping down off of the porch
Did you use your Arccaptian to weld your brackets at the house? and if so, can you tell us the rod size and amperage setting please? Very clean looking job. Nicely done as always. Thx CB
16:46 I woulda thought you'd use some 3\16 pop rivets instead of self-tapper 'zip' screws to mount the aluminum panel inside that mailbox rather than grinding sharp points off, risking potential injury in there. Nice job on the railings though. Tennant should be happy with them!👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔩🔧👨🏻🏭🦺 ✊🏻🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸✊🏻
Rivets would work...but not sure if they would be any better....using self tap screws and sanding them makes the inside perfectly smooth and I think that does a better job

For CB, for the algorithm!

As always awesome work and video I think the mailbox would’ve looked better if the mailbox door was facing the street But that’s my 2 cents worth

I did not use the ARCCAPTAIN...I welded that with the Miller Trailblazer 302
3/32" 7018 @ 80amps
@NBSWELDING thx again CB!

25:43 I agree on the GRK lags, those things are real sweet. They really hold well & will suck a gap closed with no hesitation whatsoever.
