Top 2-3 teams have consistently won international tournaments through league’s whole history lmao. DRX was by far the biggest upset in history. Regional bias against either China or Korea might lead someone to underrate teams like edg 2021 or dwg 2020, but calling them underdogs is bizarre.
true it really annoys me that there is this narrative from mostly the official channels from Riot that suggest that only the top 2 LCK and LPL teams are favourites and then like everyone else from those regions has the same level of chance as like the top LEC and LCS teams. It's so annoying because it leads to narratives like what this video is about which just suggest that being 3rd in LPL when the LPL is the strongest region and the way teams are seeded is kinda broken are like absolute underdogs with no hope.
yeah I mean pre-FPX winning worlds in 2019 I could understand this narrative that the LPL didn't produce almost exclusively teams that could compete and the LCK could produce at least 3 decent candidates, and then like the official LoL Esports channel will come out with some bs like how G2 and C9 will be up there with T1 as favourites when in reality G2 and C9 will be lucky to make quarters and T1 are probably competitors rather than like direct favourites but it would still not be an underdog story if they were to win yk

honestly DRX weren't even that bad, they had flaws yes but they were more likely to fix those problems than a team like T1
