I just love your platform - counselling student in the UK. It is sooooo helpful; thank you, Marie!

Thanks for this, Dr. Fang. I understand your caution that therapy is not a profession if you’re in it for the money. However, I’ve done the basic math based on current rates and clients per week. I don’t think I’ll be rich, but it’ll be a decent living as a solo private practice, fingers crossed. Do you have any videos or would you be willing to create one for people wanting to work remotely with the least amount of overhead? I guess it’s a selfish request, but I’m curious if I’m missing something major.

Love these videos! Just graduated with an MSc in the UK and looking to get my first job as an assistant psychologist. Quick question, do you have any recommendations of blogs/websites that post psychology related topics maybe on current research etc.. looking to continue my learning !

Marie, I always listen first to the shorter version and then later to the extended one, and I enjoy the chance to dive deeper while knowing what the video is about. I wanted to ask - and if it's sensitive, please, don't bother answering. This is not the first video you've mentioned your narcissistic mom - are you not afraid she might hear this and be hurt, and it might damage your relationship? ("asking for a friend")

I ended my relationship with my mom in 2016. If I hadn't done so, I don't believe it would have been possible for me to even start private practice skills, let alone talk about the ways she harmed me publicly. She passed away a few years later and since then, I feel more comfortable sharing knowing she's no longer consuming every bit of content I put on the internet.
I agree with the intent behind your question, if we had any sort of relationship it would not be possible for me to mention any ounce of unhealth without being extensively attacked by her. Perhaps someday I'll share about how I discovered that ending that relationship was the only available path towards health for me. Sending care to your friend ;)
