New to dancing altogether, I'm only now learning Tap and have been for 2 weeks. I'm 37. You're never too old.

Enjoy! I did two years of tap when I was 13/14. I’m 38, and have pulled out my tapshoes!

I took dance in college (jazz, tap, ballet, modern, hip hop, etc) but that was 9 years ago. These videos have been great reminders! It all just comes flooding back to me!!! Hurray for muscle memory!!! Lol

this is an incredible refresher… took a tap class a while ago, and now I’ve gotta perform onstage for a theatre thing! It’s all coming back like magic! You’re a miracle at teaching

THANK YOU.......... I GOT IT Right off! I started tap at 3 yrs old, and even taught while in High School at Community Youth Center and the village paid me. Then after marrying only danced at home, as my husband is not fond of me doing it.
Now I am 68 yrs old and have arthritis of hips, knees and thighs and spine .. etc etc. BUT love dancing but when hurting I fall back and stop. Going to Physical therapy now, and the therapist feels I need to teach dancing or at least take dancing lessons . But again ,my husband is not happy. SO.... Will watch to... "brush up"... once more.... and then will do this on my own I guess?
It would be FUN to do it with others of my age at least, but guess I do what I can. LOVE DANCING.. * just HURT* DRIVES ME CRAZY. MY BROTHER 3 YRS YOUNGER than me, NOW IS THE ONE GOING OUT DANCING WITH HIS WIFE!
I NEVER COULD TEACH HIM, BUT AFTER LEARNING 'LINE DANCING ' HE TOOK OFF QUICKLY! THANK YOU for TEACHING. GOOD FOR MANY OF US! GETS PEOPLE INTERESTED IN TAP DANCING AGAIN. I USED TO DO TAP, JAZZ BALLET AND BATON. NEVER ACROBATS AS MY PARENTS THOUGHT i WOULD " BREAK MY BONES, AS I WAS SO THIN" ( so cute, they were)

    *shouldn't have read the comments*
Man... so many people are so discouraging it's awful. So WHAT if you learned this when you were 8? So what if you started tap at 2 and you are the best in your studio now? People need to understand that EVERYONE learns at different times in their life. You don't have to be a child to start learning tap. You can start whenever you feel like it. This was a clear video and a nice segue, if you like, for people who are beginners moving into intermediate. She's made this video accessible for all ages. People learn at different speeds, by showing steps like these which may be on the simpler side of intermediate, it's a lot less daunting for someone coming into this level, or who wants to brush up on something they did years ago.
I don't think people should be bragging about how amazing they are and how they can go 5 times faster or whatever. And I'm aware that lots of these comments are from years ago and were by children, but still, manners cost nothing, so I just thought I'd throw my two pence in.
    *THAT BEING SAID*
I really enjoyed this and the only thing I wish is that it was mirrored as I'm sure I'm not the only one who benefits from mirroring when trying to learn a routine. It just meant it took me a little longer to get my bearings but that's on me really. Good job, I'll definitely check out more!

well, for a lot of people, including myself, this is pooping impossible.

yeah... I've kind of decided not to learn tap dancing until i'm like... 20. because then I might actually be able to move out and then I'll be able to practice without disturbing all the neighbors and being laughed at by my family.

People aren't trying to be stuck up, there is a system of grading. Shuffles, ball changes, tap steps etc are learned in grade 1 (about age 8, I learned at 12 (doesn't matter how old really)). Intermediate deals with steps like 4 beat riffs, 3&4 beat wing changes, divided wings etc.

This is barley intermediate level I would said advanced beginner level maybe. Scuffle steps you learn at a very early level in tap. Peridittles (I think that’s how u spell it) have many combos and usually go faster than what she shows. If you show how to do wings that would be more of an intermediate/ intermediate 2 step. I have been doing tap since I was 2. I’m 14 now so I know a thing or 2 I suppose. I’m not acting “full of myself” or like I feel I’m better than what is shown. People learn at different levels so obviously this combo will be harder for some people and easier for others, it’s just a matter of skill.
